This church, Saint Michael's, is the oldest standing religious building in Luxembourg and was originally built in the 900s. It's gone through a lot of rebuilds and renovations since then but you can still see some of the older design. It's located in the Ville Haute part of Luxembourg City. Shot in September 2019.

Die wunderschöne Altstadt von Luxemburg zählt seit 1994 zum Weltkulturerbe der UNESCO und auch ihre Umgebung hat einige Museen und zahlreiche architektonische Highlights zu bieten.
BOCK-KASEMATTEN Luxemburg
Im Jahre 963 errichtete Graf Siegfried auf dem Bockfelsen eine Burg, Grundlage für die spätere Stadtgründung. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte wurden gewaltige Ringmauern im Westen angelegt, welche die Burgunder jedoch nicht daran hinderten, die Stadt 1443 einzunehmen. Von da an ging Luxemburg für etwa 400 Jahre an fremde Herrscher über. Die besten Festungsingenieure der neuen Herren (Burgunder, Spanier, Franzosen, Österreicher, Deutscher Bund) schufen aus der Stadt eine der stärksten Festungen der Welt, das Gibraltar des Nordens. Die Verteidigung war gewährleistet durch 3 befestigte Gürtel mit 24 Forts und 16 weiteren äußerst starken Werken sowie durch ein gewaltiges unterirdisches System von 23 km, die Kasematten. Die Letztere gewährten nicht nur Tausenden von Soldaten und deren Pferden Schutz, sondern beherbergten auchWerkstätte, Küchen, Bäckereien, Schlachthäuser usw. 1867 musste die Festung geräumt und anschließend geschleift werden, da Luxemburg neutral erklärt worden war. Während der Schleifung, die 16 Jahre dauerte, verschwanden auch die Aufbauten des Bocks. Es war jedoch unmöglich, die Kasematten zu sprengen, ohne einen Teil der Stadt zu gefährden. Man beschränkte sich darauf, die Hauptverbindungen und Haupteingänge zu schließen, so dass noch17 km Kasematten, verbleiben stellenweise auf mehreren Stockwerken, verteilt. Gewaltige Treppen sind bis zu 40 m Tiefe in die Felswände getrieben.

Luxembourg City Promenade Walking Tour
Luxembourg City is an amazingly scenic city to do a walking tour, especially in Autumn. We did a self-guided walking tour along the City Promenade to take in the best panoramic views of the city and surrounds. What we discovered literally took our breath away. This city is INSANELY beautiful in Autumn, I did not expect it to be as gorgeous as what we found.
In this VLOG we do a comprehensive tour of the City Promenade, following one of the published guided tour leaflets we found in our hotel, the Hotel Central Molitor in Luxembourg City. Not only did this suggested walking tour show us the route to follow, but it also gave us some brief notes on each of the attractions. The brochure, published by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office, stated that it is a 2-hour walk of 4km. From our hotel, we ended up taking about 5 hours and walked 6km.

Well, welcome to Luxembourg! The only Grand Duchy in the world. Over the next few days we're going to be exploring the capital of Luxembourg City and this is going to be a little city guide to show you some of the highlights.
Located smack dab in between Germany, France, and Belgium, the little Grand Duchy of Luxembourg can be easy to miss if you're not looking carefully, however, we're of the opinion that this is a beautiful destination that you'll definitely want to make time for. From picturesque neighbourhoods with cream coloured walls, to dazzling views of blue rooftops in the Old Town below, Luxembourg City is a charming destination that you'll want to add to your European itinerary.
So this hear is the Corniche and it is a pedestrian promenade which has been called the most beautiful balcony in all of Europe because it gets some spectacular views of the old town.
So we are now entering the Bock Casemates and apparently this was the old fortification of Luxemborg and it was known as the Gibraltar of the north.
This was once one of the most envied fortresses in all of Europe.
Right now we're visiting the Three Towers which are remnants of an old fortress.
We've been walking around a neighborhood called the Grund which is directly below the city center. And it is really picturesque and without tourists.
So behind me we have Saint Michael's church which is the oldest church in Luxembourg. The first church to be built on this spot dates back to the year 987, however, the church was destroyed, rebuilt, and renovated many times over the centuries.
The Palace houses the Grand Duke's office and during the summer months.
There is no shortage of museums in Luxembourg City, so we took some time to visit the National Museum of Art and History.
We are now looking at the Passerelle which is Luxembourg's very own viaduct.
So we are now standing in William Square which is a really popular spot on Sundays and Wednesdays because local vendors setup shop and they sell all kinds of things from fresh produce, to flowers, street snacks.
So final thoughts of Luxembourg. Alright, to wrap things up here it was a really cool city. It is the type of city that you can explore in just one or two days. A weekend type of destination because a lot of the attractions are nearby one another. And we just found it a very easy city to get around in on foot.
So as a little travel tip if you're planning on being in the city for a few days we really recommend the Luxembourg Card. This is what we used while we were here and it is really good for public transportation across the city. Across the country actually and you also get access to seventy different galleries, museums, historic attractions and it is not that expensive. I mean it depends on whether you get a family or an individual card but we really recommend it because we made a lot of use of it.

Rindschleiden is het kleinste plaatsje van Luxemburg, bezit een Romaanse kerk uit 1400 met prachtige fresco's, De fresco's tonen het leven van Christus, zijn doop in de rivier de Jordaan, het Laatste Avondmaal, Petrus, Anna de moedervan Maria, Sint Barbara, Sint-Hubertus, Stephanus, Laurentius en Bartolomeüs. Ook zijn er slotstenen met de Piëta en sint Bartholomeüs. Rondom de kerk is een bezinningswandeling met twaalf bezinningspunten.

The frescoes go about the life of Christ , his Baptism in the River Jordan, the last supper, Peter, Anna de mother of Maria, St. Barbara, St. Hubertus, Stephanus, Laurentius and Bartholomew. Also there are slotbricks with the Pietà and St. Bartholomew. Around the Church is a reflectionwalk with twelve reflectionpoints

В далеком 987 году граф Зигфрид изъявил желание построить дворцовую капеллу, которая неоднократно разрушалась в последующие столетия, восстанавливалась и отстраивалась. Свой окончательный вид церковь приняла при Людовике XIV в 1688 году – об этом свидетельствуют несколько линий на фасаде сооружения.
Во время знаменитой Французской революции собор являлся единственным нетронутым зданием Люксембурга. В 2003–2004 годах церковь была в последний раз отремонтирована, а от первоначально построенной капеллы был сохранен только портал.
