I felt if you had never seen a Veteran's Cemetery this might interest you. Thousands of graves all lined up in perfect precision, each section dedicated to a certain year of death. Workers going about their business of mowing and keeping the grounds neat and clean and also making ready for another burial. Every now and then you will see balloons floating or flowers decorating a headstone. There are so many emotions while there but I think the feeling of being proud mixed with sadness best describes it for me. Thank You for watching...

National Cemetery of Salisbury
Salisbury National Cemetery was established by Confederate authorities to serve as the burial ground for captured Union soldiers, incarcerated at the prison in Salisbury. In the fall of 1864, the number of soldiers at Salisbury prison had doubled. It suffered from one of the highest prison death rates, approximately half the men were dying of disease or starvation, due to the food shortage in the South. It is unknown exactly how many prisoners were buried there, but the established figure is 11,700. The Union monuments at the National Cemetery are The Federal Monument to the unknown dead, The Pennsylvania Monument, the state of Maine erected a granite monument. The cemetery was dedicated in 1874; Salisbury National Cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

On February 18, 2011, people arrived on 222 motorcycles and many cars/trucks to stand in honor of Lyle Davenport and escort Lyle and his family from Holy Covenant United Church of Christ, Charlotte, NC to Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.

Salisbury SAULZ-ber-ee is a city in and the county seat of Rowan County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 33,663 in the 2010 Census. Salisbury is the home to famed North Carolina soft drink, Cheerwine, regional supermarket Food Lion, and the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. It is one of only two cities in North Carolina to have gigabit capacity through its municipally-owned broadband system Fibrant. A press conference held September 3, 2015 at Catawba College announced Salisbury's Fibrant system is now capable of 10 gigabit capacity city-wide; believed to be the only city owned system in the world with this capacity.
