Ueda castle - Nagano - 上田城 - 4K Ultra HD
Built in the latter half of the 16th century by the daimyo Sanada Masayuki, Ueda Castle, or in Japanese Ueda-jo, was one of Nagano's major castles as well as a force to recon with and this primarily is thanks to the skill of Sanada Masayuki in war strategies and tactics. Destroyed after the battle of Sekigahara, the castle was then partially rebuilt by the Tokugawa family who appointed another daimyo (ruler) to take care of the area.

Musha queue Sanada Yukimura Japan, Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture [Part 2]
Shinzō Sanada (Shobushi Sasada) is a warlord from the Azuchi Momoyama period to the early Edo period, Daimyo [9]. The second son of Masayuki Sanada. Common name is Shigeru Samon and Genjiro is Genjiro (Genjiro). It is widely known under the name Sanada Yukimura.
The brave success that attacked Tokugawa Ieyasu's Honjin in the summer of Osaka as a warrior of the Toyotomi was recorded in each historical record of the Edo shogunate and various Daimyo families, and the first soldier of the country (Hito no Tachi no Tsuno) It is said to be [10] and others. Ueda City is drawing attention now thanks to the TV drama series Sanadamaru. Ueda Castle is known as the impregnable castle that twice repelled attacks by the opposing Tokugawa clan army. Sanada Shrine, inside Ueda Castle, known as the “shrine that prevents failure”, is a popular place for school students to pray for academic success. Closely related to the Sanada clan of Ueda was the Uesugi clan. In Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, home of clan leader Uesugi Kenshin, there is a place one must visit to pray for success.

Unsere kleine Sengoku Reise: Ueda und Sanada [ENG Sub]
Die Reise geht weiter! Wir verlassen Suwako und machen uns auf in Richtung Ueda. Auf dem Weg dorthin haben wir aber noch einen Halt in Matsumoto gemacht und uns das Matsumoto Schloss angeschaut.
Danach erzähle ich euch etwas über die Sanada und zeige euch ein paar Bauten in Ueda und Sanada, die mit dieser Familie in Verbindung stehen. Ein Ort hat es mir ganz besonders angetan und ihr werdet sehen, weshalb.
Wenn ihr euch auch für die Sengoku Ära und insbesondere für die Sanada interessiert, empfehle ich euch, in Ueda mit dem Auto anzureisen. Es gibt zwar Busse, aber sowohl die alte Sanada Residenz, sowie das Muesum liegen etwas weiter außerhalb und auch das Grab von Sanada Masayuki ist sehr schwer ohne Auto zu erreichen. Gerade dieses empfehle ich sehr.

Our small Sengoku trip: Ueda and Sanada - Six coins for the Sanada
Our travel continues. We leave Suwako behind and head in Ueda direction.
On our way we made a brief stop at Matsumoto and visited Matsumoto castle.
Afterwards I’ll tell you about the Sanada family and show you buildings whcich are connected to this family. One place was very special to me and you will see why exactly.
If you are interested in the Sengoku era and especially the Sanada family I recommend to visit Ueda by car. There are busses as well, but the Sanada residence and the museum are located very out-of-town. Sanada Masayuki’s grave as well. Especially this place I absolutely recommend to pay a visit.

【海津城】川中島の戦いの舞台【松代城】真田藩の城ＢＹ麻布狸穴
枕連が旅行で撮った写真で動画を作成してみました。今回は長野県長野市にある松代城です。松代城は有名な真田幸村の兄である真田信之を藩祖とする松代真田藩の城下町であるだけでなく。戦国時代には武田信玄と上杉謙信が雌雄を決っせんと5回も戦った川中島の戦いの舞台でもあります。武田氏時代は海津城と称しました。川中島の戦いの際の城主は「甲陽軍鑑」の作者として名高い高坂弾正昌信でした。また、松代の町には旧真田藩邸や旧藩校文武学校・真田家累代の墓がある菩提寺長国寺など見所もたくさんです。さらに太平洋戦争末期に建造された大規模な大本営地下壕も見ることができます。

History of Ueda Castle
In 1583 the feudal lord Masayuki Sanada built Ueda Castle. The castle was not built on a hill but rather on a bluff along the Chikuma River.
The castle became known throughout Japan after Sanada twice defeated the formidable Tokugawa army. In 1585, a Sanada army of 2000 warriors defeated the Tokugawa army of 8000. In 1600 Sanada again stopped an army led by Tokugawa Hidetada on its way to Sekigahara. As a result Tokugawa failed to join the Battle of Sekigahara, the biggest inland battle in Japanese history.
In the Battle of Sekigahara, the Sanada army was divided into two sides. Masayuku Sanada and his second son Yukimura sided with Toyotomi while Masayuki's first son Nobuyuki sided with Tokugawa. Yukimura was killed in the Battle of Osaka that summer, Toyotomi's last battle. Yukimura became well known as the strongest soldier in Japan for his exploits.
Nobuyuki, who took up with Tokugawa, left Ueda and became the Lord of the Matsushiro Clan. Tadamasa Sengoku became the Lord of the Ueda Clan after Nobuyuki and maintained the castle town, developing it into a stage of Hokkoku Way. During the Edo period Zenkoji Temple became popular nationwide and the Hokkoku Way was crowded with pilgrims.
After Sengoku, Matsudaira became the Lord of the Ueda Clan. Matsudaira contributed to the development of industry and culture in Ueda up to the beginning of the Meiji period. Nowadays in Ueda Castle one can enjoy many kinds of cherry blossoms in spring, and beautiful autumn colors in fall.

Breakfast at the Tokyu REI Hotel – Japanese breakfast buffet. I went BURA-BURA on the backside of the train station. Walked past a shopping mall, Arts & Cultural Center, the Chikumagawa or Chikuma River. Back to the hotel area, I went to the tourist info center and asked the young lady if the Chikumagawa I saw was the river in the Chikumagawa song by Itsuki Hiroshi. She wasn’t familiar with the song I think as she wasn’t so sure. But, she said there is only one Chikumagawa that she knows so Itsuki Hiroshi’s song, which made the number #1 in Japan was probably before this young lady was born! LOL! Kekekeke Then I went across the train tracks to the front of the station and went BURA-BURA. I went to the Ueda Castle Ruins park. The castle was built by the Sanada clan who was featured in the 2016 NHK Taiga TV drama, “Sanada Maru”. I then headed back to the train station. I saw a sign that said Ueda Dentetsu. It takes folks across the Chikumagawa to Bessho Onsen. 30-minute ride with various stops along the way. A round trip ticket cost 1180-yen and an all day ticket cost 1180-yen. I bought the all-day ticket but only went round trip. Saw some temples/shrines at Bessho Onsen and then caught the train back to the city. Stopped for “DIN-CH”, my dinner-lunch at a ramen shop. First part of this video features Itsuki Hiroshi singing one of his great hits “Chikumagawa”. Then the theme music from the NHK Sanada Maru TV program.

Festival in Ueda, Japan
A festiveal in Ueda, Japan in July 2003 with friends of the Mahoroba youth hostel in Bessho Onsen, who invited me to join. The music was a live band that played for about three hours; played the *same* *song* for about three hours. In the middle of the festival there was a 15-minute break and little carts were wheeled out and supplied hamburgers and cans of beer to everyone. I am the last person in blue to cross the camera briefly at the end.
