On today's CapeCast: With spring temperatures rising into the stratosphere--well, at least 70 degrees--we thought we'd better soak in the delights of Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable, one of the great beaches of Cape Cod!

Hi Everyone, this is Marissa again. Today's video I'm taking you to one of the best beach here in Massachusetts. I am going to take you down the river bank first and then to the famous boardwalk in Sandwich, Massachusetts. The Sandwich Boardwalk is built over low dines and Mill Creek. The original boardwalk was destroyed by Hurricane Bob in October 1991. Residents and businesses owner of this area had donated and purchased new planks to rebuilt the walk and engraved many with special messages.
As you meander across the newly reconstructed 1,350-foot boardwalk. You will notice funny quips, memorials to lovers,family members and dedication to boats.The walkways vantage points provides striking views of the Cape Cod Bay where you can watch the marsh grass swaying against the hazy summer horizon. On a closer look you can find various aquatic wildlife in the area. Bird watching is the of the popular pastime in the area. The beach town of Sandwich is home to the endangered piping plover and several species of tern. In order to provide a safe nesting haven for the birds. Areas of the beach are off-limits in the early summer and late spring.
The boardwalk ends at the shoreline. You will also find a platform overlooking the bay as it winds itself around the beach. During clear day you can see all the way to Provincetown, located at the very end of the very tip of Cape Cod. The boardwalk and the beach offers picturesque and accessible for swimming and satisfying combination of nature lovers and for all those who loves the beach.

The 13th video in the In My Footsteps: Cape Cod series features a spot ranked in a Top-10 list by National Geographic. Sandwich's Boardwalk was ranked one of the Top-10 boardwalks in the U.S. Destroyed in 1991 by Hurricane Bob it was rebuilt thanks to people paying for engraved wooden planks along the entirety of the 1,350-foot boardwalk. Cape Cod, a hook-shaped peninsula in southeastern Massachusetts, is a popular summertime destination. Its 15 main towns encompass quaint villages, seafood shacks, lighthouses, ponds and bay and ocean beaches. Provincetown, at the far tip, marks the Pilgrims’ first anchorage in the New World with a towering monument. A longtime haven for artists, gays and lesbians, P-town offers numerous galleries, theaters, cabarets and nightclubs.
Cape Cod is a geographic cape/island and independent land mass separated from the mainland by the Cape Cod Canal that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean in the easternmost part of the state of Massachusetts in the Northeastern United States. Its historic, maritime character and ample beaches attract heavy tourism during the summer months.
Cape Cod stretches from Provincetown in the northeast to Woods Hole in the southwest. Cape Cod, as defined by the Cape Cod Commission's enabling legislation, comprises Barnstable County. The Cape Cod Canal cuts 17.5 miles (28.2 km) roughly across the base of the peninsula, though the western boundary of the cape extends to include small portions of the towns of Bourne and Sandwich which lie on the mainland side of the canal.
Two road bridges cross the Cape Cod Canal: the Sagamore Bridge and the Bourne Bridge. In addition, the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge carries railway freight and limited passenger services onto the Cape. Cape territory is divided into fifteen towns with many villages.

Martha Vineyard - It is a beautiful island located on south of Cape cod.
Can be reached through ferry. It is preferable to take Island Queen ferry from Falmouth Cape Cod to Oak Bluffs (MY) was it is budget friendly (offers $20 return ticket). Once in Martha one can rent a bike, moped or car and enjoy the scenic beauty of the island with some trails offering ocean view on both side of rode.
