Trick Art exhibitions in Sapporo, May 2015
I went to two trick art exhibitions in Sapporo in May 2015. One was held in the Higashi-Sapporo Convention Center and one was held in Sapporo Station.
There were things that looked strange from different angles, 3D art, paintings you could interact with and take photos, find the 12 hidden animals type of paintings, and much more.
I ended up with sore muscles from trying to come up with funny poses and ending up doing heavy yoga for several hours... Lots of fun.

Most Surreal National Park ★ ONLY in JAPAN #53
There are some places in this world we have to visit before we die. Places that are so unbelievably beautiful that we need to see it with our own eyes to believe it. This Japanese National Park in Hitachi is one of those places. Japanese manga have come a long way!
The modern manga took off during the US occupation after 1945 and since then, the industry in Japan and abroad has reached new heights.
Fast forward to 2013.
Today, there's more to manga than just manga. There's a whole culture surrounding Japan's comics and one part of that is the manga cafe called manga kissa in Japanese.
Don't let the word cafe fool you -- the services at manga kissa go beyond reading manga with a cup of coffee.
Not only is it a place to read a manga in a quiet place off the busy streets of Tokyo, it's also a place where you can get some privacy with a date watching 3D movies or even spend the night at an affordable rate.

JAPAN TRAVEL: KYOTO! #1 Day 8 & 9
KYOTO: the legendary city was our home for three days. Undeniably touristy but also inconceivably packed with extraordinary things to see and experience.
We first head to Kiyomizudera before munching on some insane ramen and then diving into the geisha-littered streets of historic Gion. To end the first day we grab some skewers at a local Yakitori joint.
The following wet morning we hike through the bamboozling orange gate-filled madness of Fushimi Inari Shrine.
We ate:
Black Ramen at Musoshin
Yakitori at Sumibiyakitori Otonari
Yes there are hordes of tourists, and yes some of the magic can be lost, but there's really nowhere like it.

World's Most Beautiful Starbucks ★ ONLY in JAPAN
Where is the world's most beautiful Starbucks? Japan, of course.
In Toyama city's Kansui Park is a shop that has won awards for it's design, but it's also the location that makes it beautiful. Those big windows overlook a lake in a park, the building resting upon grass, surrounded by sakura trees. The fresh air off the sea of Japan and the beautiful sunsets over the nearby Japanese Alps can't be forgotten. I could sip a hot cappuccino all day here.
But wait! Starbucks newest shop in Kyoto (Ninenzaka) is a traditional tea house that looks centuries old! It's hard to tell it's a Starbucks until you see the sign. Inside, it's like going back in time. You definitely feel Kyoto's historical vibe sitting on tatami sipping macha tea ... lattes. This may also be the world's most beautiful shop.
Hakodate in Hokkaido is home to what many consider to be the coziest Starbucks in the world. It's got a fireplace, wide open rooms and stairs, natural hard wood floors and a beautiful deck that overlooks Hakodate Bay. It's super cozy!
Yeah, visiting Starbucks is certainly one attraction for many visitors because it seems more than just a chain coffee shop. To me, it a reflection of the world around us -- and a really good cup of coffee.
THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED VIDEO.
I made this episode from a suggestion from a viewer in 2016 :) I also like Starbucks Japan because it's the only cafe chain that is non-smoking and has excellent coffee.
LOCATIONS featured in this video:
★ Toyama Kansui Park
★ Hakodate Bayside
☆ Shibuya Tsutaya
☆ Omotesando / Harajuku Tokyu Plaza
☆ Okachimachi
☆ Tokyo Yaesu Sakura Dori
☆ Akihabara
☆ Ueno Onishi Parek
★ Kyoto Nineizaka Yasaka Chaya
Historical note: The first Starbucks in Japan was opened in Ginza in 1996 and is located here.
It is being renovated until August 2017.

Tokyo Capsule Hotel Experience ★ ONLY in JAPAN
A real life capsule to sleep in. Cool!
This is one of the most ONLY in JAPAN experiences possible — staying in a capsule hotel in a Japanese city. It’s cheap and convenient but why do people actually stay here? Is it ... you know ... big enough?
In this episode, John Daub and Masahito Kawahata head to the Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae Capsule Hotel in Kabukicho to find out.
Japan’s Capsule Hotels are more than cheap places to crash.
This type of hotel is distinctively Japanese in style, cramming in as much as possible into a tiny space to make a comfortable experience, but can a guest really be comfortable in one?
More and more foreign tourists to Japan want to give it a try! How small are these capsule? How much is a night? What are the rules?
Is it worth it?
Miss your last train?
Work too late?
Argument with your husband or wife and need a place to crash? Those might be the normal reasons why Japanese salarymen spend the night at a capsule hotel.
For foreign tourists it’s a chance to experience a unique style of hotel that seems more like spending a night at the morgue.
Before you pass judgement on capsule hotels, some things about them may surprise you!
What can you find at the capsule hotel?
Here’s a list:
Capsules
Lockers
Restaurant (Open 18:00~24:00)
Community Room
Vending machines
Laundry machines
Fast and free WIFI
English speaking staff
Women’s only floor
Japanese-style bath and sauna
Close to Shinjuku Station, bars, Golden Gai and Robot Restaurant
