2019 Annular solar eclipse in general santos city and sarangani province, philippines
Despite the cloudy condition we we're able to peak the annular solar eclipse. viewing the rare solar ring of fire in gensan is a blessing and a rare opportunity at exactly 2:30 pm that lasts 2 minutes. Video log to follow.

We're almost a decade in our relationship, with her fathers' blessing, I finally planned my proposal. I had an appointment on July in General Santos City, so I thought it would be the perfect place. I began to formulate plans and finally decided to surprise her through paragliding. She was excited to try it, so I booked a paragliding ride, but as our flight to General Santos City approached, I had to cancel last minute due to a health problem her doctor discovered and it scared her. Until she will be healed, she is not allowed any outdoor activities. I did not want to risk it.
Since most of my other plans cannot be used, I contacted JP to help me with another plan. We decided to have the surprise in Isla Jardin Del Mar Beach, but failed since buying flowers on the way to the beach would be obvious because MJ was also in the car. We all just enjoyed swimming. Next day was my appointment so I only had half a day to prepare since we had to drive back to General Santos and that would be my last shot. I decided we have dinner somewhere, JP and I choose Mt. Sabrina, a mountaintop restaurant. From those years of waiting for an answer, to those years in a relationship, to those years of waiting again for her return from a far away land, there I was able to hear her say the sweetest word YES twice. 'Twas a joyous night!

TUKA cove in Kiamba, Sarangani

Tuka cove is a hidden paradise with a pristine coral garden and solitary beach all for yourself most of the time. The place is precious that fishing is not allowed; gathering of sand and pebbles too. You can leave your footprints but please bring home your solid waste to the mainland.

Images of General Santos City on the Southern Island of Mindanao in the Philippines
The photos in this slide show were taken during my many trips to General Santos City on the Southern Island of Mindanao in the Philippines. The city sports a population of around 530,000 people. It's located at the North end of the Sarangani Bay. It is commonly referred to as the Tuna Capital of the Philippines. On any given morning you can go down to the GenSan Fish Port Complex and watch as the fisherman unload the tons of tuna from the previous nights catch.
The City celebrates it's crown jewel, the Tuna with it's annual Tuna Festival. It usually runs between August 15 thru September 15. One of the highlights of the festival is the Tuna Festival Parade. The city comes to life this time of year with the many activities that take place during that month.
There are also literally dozens of beach resorts along the Sarangani Bay, with their pristine waters and white sand beaches. Many of these resorts have some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in all of the Philippines. Other great things that General Santos and the surrounding area have to offer is Lake Sebu Seven Falls with it's absolute breathtaking views of the grand water falls. Then there is Balakayo Adventure Park and Zip Line. One of my favorite things to do at night in GenSan is to wonder on down to the Heneral Santos Park in the middle of the city and enjoy the food that the many street vendors have to offer. The park comes to life and much of General Santos is there each and every night just enjoying the party atmosphere that takes place.
