Puchberg am Schneeberg - The climatic spa resort is one of the last offshoots of the foothills of the Alps, located 80 km south of Vienna in a romantically sleepy valley at the foot of the Schneeberg (2075 m), the highest mountain in Lower Austria.
The Salamander - Our train takes you 10 km closer to heaven on this tour into the high-alpine region of the Schneeberg. Lush meadows, the scent of coniferous forests and the magnificent panaroma of the beautiful mountain scenery pass you by as the tour makes its way up the mountain at a leisurely pace. When you finally alight at Austria's highest railway station (1,800 m above sea level) you will be impressed by the performance of this little train. Our Salamander trains have overcome an altitude of 1218 m on a journey of 9.8 km.
