????Scone TAFE Rocks
This is a snapshot of the glory days of NSW TAFE and the types of courses available in 2010 before its cut backs as the NSW liberal government introduced there initiative and sacked teachers and got rid of many courses statewide. The TAFE continued by running courses without teachers. During my diploma in 2013 all we could do to try and complete the course was to sit in class and watch youtube tutorials all day and could talk to the teacher who was teaching the other class during the morning tea and lunch breaks if we had a question. I didn’t pass.
From 2015 politicians and the same government imposed new education fees and charges so high that students have to get a loan for their education.
The government and welfare agencies used to advertise and say to young people don't start life with a debt. The same politicians got their education for free. Students in Australia now start life with a larger debt than young offenders.
In my experience students now face an endless stream of emailed surveys, VET fee and Centrelink notifications that make it hard to find time to communicate with teachers or find time to do the courses. I have since enrolled in a TAFE course that actually had a teacher and completed a different Diploma.
Money would have been better spent by the government employing teachers instead of installing the continually faulty TAFE online learning websites. Students would have more time to study instead of travelling greater distances to colleges in capital cities to do the same courses that used to be available in regional areas.
The old system provided benefits to young people in many more ways that just education it provided a sense of community, wellbeing, mental health and hope for people of all ages. Bring back more teachers for face to face teaching! Bring back more courses! Bring back free education!!!!!!!!

It's the biggest race day in the Upper Hunter.
Scone Palace, 'An Evening Walk Around Perth Race Course', May 2014
Scone Palace is a large country estate and this includes a full size horse racing track. The campsite being located next to the track meant I was also able to go for evening walks around the track and beside the River Tay---this is just a short clip.
Scone Palace also hosts many events and while I was staying there dog championships were taking place over 3 days---loads of campers, etc... but they were housed on a separate field to my camp site
