Diving my way around ICELAND - Silfra & ICEBERGS !
For my 30th Birthday in January this year I went to Iceland to dive the clearest water in the world. A place called Silfra which has up to 100m visibility. Also found the icebergs in the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon which were way too spectacularly not to dive! We also visited the famous black beach near Vik & the Skaftafell glacier which had some ridiculous ice formations. I didn't get a chance to go spearfishing this time but plan to head back and try that. Also massive thanks to Stu K for letting me borrow the GH5 & Nauticam rig for this trip!
Check out Biggi from freedive Iceland to book your tour, recommend the freediving tour not the snorkel tour as the snorkel tour is with a dry suit and you can't dive at all.

Scuba diving in Iceland : Silfra Fissure, Thingvellir Park
During a long scuba weekend in Reykjavik, I took the opportunity to enjoy the best of Iceland underwater & beyond : scuba diving in Silfra fissure between the American and European tectonic plates in 100m visibility water, Observing geothermal activity in Geysir and Seltun, Resisting freezing winds near waterfalls of Gullfoss and Oxararfoss and finally relaxing in hot springs of Secret Lagoon and Blue Lagoon.

This is a 2 part series of my first time exploring Iceland. We fly into Keflavic, then head to our Air BnB just outside Reykjavik where we will be based for the week. In this second part we head out on a road trip towards the town of Vik in search of some of Iceland's most well known landmarks - seljalandsfoss waterfall which you can walk all the way around the back of and the famous Skógafoss that was used as a filming location for Game of Thrones. We then head to the black sand beach Reynisfjara - to get a look at the deadly sneaker waves.
Day 5 we decided to go a little off piste and design our own tour staring with the Lava Tunnel where we experience Ultimate Darkness then we try to find Arnarker cave (which just FYI - I've been told is now actually closed to the public since filming this!) Then Seltun to see the geothermal area where the ground water is bubbling. Lastly we get a chance to snorkel between the continental plates in Silfra which is 2 degrees - so very cold but the view was spectacular

Silfra Fissure - The World's Clearest Water
Silfra Fissure is located in Thingvellir National Park in Iceland, the Silfra dive site is approximately 60 kilometres (a 45-minute drive) from Reykjavik. Silfra is the only place where one can dive or snorkel directly in the crack between two continental plates.
The Silfra fissure, is known as one of the top dive sites in the world for two main reasons.
First, the Silfra fissure is actually a crack between the North American and Eurasian continents, meaning that you dive or snorkel right where the continental plates meet and drift apart about 2cm per year.
Secondly, the underwater visibility in the Silfra fissure is over 100 meters, which creates an underwater experience that will rarely, if ever, be surpassed.
The reasons for this astounding water clarity are twofold: the water is cold (2°C – 4°C year round ) as it is melt water from the nearby Langjökull Glacier and this water is filtered through porous underground lava for 30-100 years until it reaches the north end of Thingvellir lake, seeping out from underground wells.
The Silfra water is as pristine as water can get and you can drink it at anytime during your dive or snorkel.
Thanks for watching.
