Unique Japanese Street Food tour in Kamakura (鎌倉) + Travel Guide | Tokyo Day Trip Video Transcript:
It is time for another day trip. Today we have left Tokyo behind and come to Kamakura (鎌倉). Which is a coastal town about 1 hour south of Tokyo. We hoped on the Shonan-Shinjuku line (湘南新宿ライン) and paid 920 Yen to get here. Also this place is known as the Kyoto of the East because you have a whole bunch of temples to visit. So our plan today is to temple hop and also enjoy lots of street food.
We are currently walking down Komachi Street and this is the place to enjoy street food. However it is still a little bit early in the day. It is just past 10 am and a lot of the shops are just opening up and setting up there food stalls.
So our plan of action is to go visit the temple (Hasedera Temple - 長谷寺) at the end of this street and then we'll come back with an even bigger appetite and enjoy some street food here in Kamakura (鎌倉).
We didn't waste a single minute after visiting the temple. We just hustled back to where we were earlier. The street that is just lined with street food stands.
So I found something that I've been wanting to try. Since we arrived in Japan this is a mochi ball stuffed with custard (いちご大福). With a strawberry on top.
Sam was certainly a bit more adventurous with his choice. Yeah, when I say this little omelette with mini fish (whitebait - 釜揚げ)しらす) I'm like I've got to try this. This is one of the most visually interesting pieces of Japanese street food I've ever seen. Yeah, and this was 250 Yen.
It is ice cream time. It is ice cream time. I've been waiting to try some unique flavors. Yes. This is about as unique as it gets. Black sesame with soy milk (黒ゴマのアイスクリーム). Yes. And they've even put sesame sprinkles all over it. Yes. This place specializes in all things sesame.
We've been trying to figure out what kind of souvenirs we're going to get from Japan. And we haven't bought anything. Chopsticks. Wooden spoons.
We had our food and we are now on our way to go see the Great Buddha (鎌倉大仏 - Kamakura Daibutsu). So basically we walked back to the train station. Kamakura station and we got on the Enoshima line and it was three stops over to Hasey.
Our last temple. We are currently visiting Hasedera Temple (長谷寺). And we paid 300 Yen per person. Also because it is June and hydrangeas are in bloom they gave us this special ticket. It is a numbered ticket. So basically I guess you line up and you can walk along the path and enjoy the beautiful flowers in bloom.
It has been a long day. Well well we are heading home. It was a long day. Mostly because of the heat but we saw some really cool temples. We ate some delicious street food. And yeah now we are going back to Tokyo. But if you are looking for a fun day trip Kamakura (鎌倉) is certainly worth it.

Pokemon at Changi Airport, Singapore (Largest Pikachu Parade in Singapore)
This festive season, Changi Airport will become the lair for the ultra cute pocket monsters that have taken Singapore, and the world, by storm!
To launch the year-end festivities, Changi Airport will showcase the largest Pikachu parade ever seen on the island, on 18 November! Ten life-sized Pikachus will perform at Terminal 3, against the backdrop of a 8-metre gingerbread house and a larger-than-life 7-metre tall Pikachu. There will also be a multi-sensory lightshow, music and dancing trees to entertain the audience.
At Terminal 2, Pokemon fans will be thrilled at the chance to come up close and personal to life-sized versions of one of the rare Pokemons – Snorlax! Airport visitors and passengers will also be able to participate in Pokemon-themed dance parties and face painting activities at game booths across the three airport terminals. In addition, the entire airport will be decked out with festive delights for all to enjoy.
It will be an exciting event with many delightful photo opportunities and fun activities. Do join us with your family for the launch and special tour of the adorable displays put up to celebrate year-end festivities at Changi Airport.

Hi, we are Erin and Francis, aka the Honeymooners! We love travel, animals, nature, space, music, coffee and good food….
...ABOUT US...
In 2016 we travelled extensively throughout South East Asia, and trekked all over the Himalayas of Nepal. We documented the entire trip on our Go Pro for our family and friends, but decided to post it all onto Youtube just for a bit of fun as well.
We are newlyweds, happily married since June 2019, and are now living out our dream goal we have had since our last overseas trip, of travelling the world for an entire year on our honeymoon. We have worked so hard towards this goal and want to document the entire journey with you all, so you can join us as we leave our footprints all over this beautiful world.
The world we live in is so diverse and rich with culture, yet the more we travel and the more people we meet along the way, we realise that people share so many similarities no matter what their background is.

Joseph Kosuth at Hirshhorn: Demetrion Lecture
Joseph Kosuth is one of the most celebrated pioneers of Conceptual art, using language and appropriation to highlight the importance of the idea as the basis for a work of art. Since the 1960s, his work has consistently explored the production and role of language and meaning within art.
In conjunction with our current installation of the permanent collection, What Absence is Made Of, which features his seminal work Titled (Art as Idea as Idea) [Idea] (1966) as one of the highlights of the exhibition, we're thrilled to host Joseph Kosuth for the annual James T. Demetrion Lecture.
This annual program is made possible by the Friends of Jim and Barbara Demetrion Endowment Fund, established in 2001 to celebrate Jim Demetrion’s seventeen-year tenure as the Hirshhorn’s second director.
