Occupy Delaware Tent Raising Rally - Part two
On February 18, 2012, Occupy Delaware threw a Tent Raising Rally to celebrate the command post tent gifted to them by Occupy Philadelphia. Occupy Philadelphia won the tent in a Firedoglake contest but since it does not have an encampment, they decided to give it their brothers and sisters in Delaware.
Special guests included:
Dan Choi: gay West Point Officer, Iraq War veteran, and Arabic translator whose self-outing on the Rachel Maddow show helped end Don't Ask Don't Tell. Choi will be accompanying a delegation from Occupy Philadelphia, who are donating a Military Command Post Tent they won in a contest sponsored by the website Firedoglake.
Captain Ray Lewis: retired Philadelphia police officer who was arrested at Occupy Wall Street in New York. Says Lewis, All the cops are just workers for the one percent, and they don't even realize they're being exploited.
Jane Hamsher: Founder and chief writer for the blog Firedoglake. Hamsher has been a guest on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, the BBC, and Al Jazeera. Firedoglake was the sponsor of Occupy Supply, which provided the tent won by Occupy Philadelphia and donated to Occupy Delaware.
Nathan Nate Kleinman: Human Rights activist and Occupy Philadelphia participant who is now a House of Representatives candidate in the 13th District of Pennsylvania.
Amy Herrera, Philadelphia chapter president of Iraq Veterans Against the War. Herrera was a Senior Airman in the United States Air Force.
Scott Birney: Leader of the Sin City Band, a Delaware favorite, which bills itself as offering Real Music, Real People, a Real Good Time.
Rob Chirnside: Known as Box Turtle Bob, Chirnside is a one-man-band and drummer for The Witchdoctors.
Phillip Bannowsky: Delaware poet, autoworker, and author, reading his latest poem written especially for Occupy Delaware, What Next.
PLUS Speakers from Delaware organizations including Delaware Pacem in Terris, Wilmington Occupy the Hood, Delaware Community Reinvestment Action Council, Delaware Alliance for Community Development, and Delaware Campaign to End the Death Penalty.
Occupy Delaware comprises a broad variety of voices. Anyone in Delaware who is fed up with a national agenda that is rigged in favor of the wealthiest one percent at the expense of the other ninety-nine percent is welcome to participate. Occupy Delaware does not endorse political candidates or parties.

Gateway National Recreation Area
Gateway National Recreation Area is a 26,607-acre National Recreation Area in the Port of New York and New Jersey. Scattered over Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island, New York, and Monmouth County, New Jersey, it provides recreational opportunities that are rare for a dense urban environment, including ocean swimming, bird watching, boating, hiking and camping. Ten million people visit Gateway annually.
Gateway was created by the US Congress in 1972 to preserve and protect scarce and/or unique natural, cultural, and recreational resources with relatively convenient access by a high percentage of the nation's population. It is owned by the United States government and managed by the National Park Service.

The George Stoney Memorial
This moving tribute to legendary independent filmmaker and Father of Public Access George C. Stoney was originally held at the Abrons Art Center in Lower Manhattan. The event was attended by some of Mr. Stoney's closest family, friends, supporters, students and colleagues. MNN invited the cast back to our studios to recreate that special evening. Enjoy! There's A Poop Crisis At The Border (HBO)
I'm starting to smell it Baron Partlow yelled into the estuary that sits between Tijuana and Imperial Beach, a small coastal town in southern California. He was wearing a black shirt with the words Stop the Poop in large white letters, high top boots, and plastic gloves, and carrying a respirator.
After a few seconds, he turned to the woman following him around with iPhone and asked if she was smelling it too. She was wearing Nikes.
Partlow, who documents the wastewater that flows from Mexico the United States and then posts the videos to the Stop the Poop page on Facebook, is on the fringe of a very real and serious movement. While the federal government obsesses about the so-called emergency at the border, Imperial Beach are trying to get people to care about a crisis that has nothing to do with migrants.
Every year, the Tijuana River carries millions of gallons of water over the border, bringing trash, chemicals, and poop along for the ride. The problem has gotten so bad that the beaches just north of Mexico are rarely ever open.
VICE News traveled to Imperial Beach, where the town meets regularly to talk about their stinky problem, to see how bad it could possibly be.

700 Pound Snake Pulled out of Lake in North Carolina
Giant 700 pound snake caught in lake in Proctor, North Carolina. The giant man eating python was measured at 98 feet long. Police were contacted to see if there have been any recently filed missing person reports as a snake this big could have surely eaten a human.
This giant snake is massive and just gorgeous, but it didn't take long to find out that the STORY behind it... was fake, just another hoax.
While the image is indeed real, I think the size of the giant snake could have been exaggerated due to the camera angle
Nevertheless, this snake is still huge, but where did it come from? The markings on it's skin looks similar to that of a reticulated python native to Southeast Asia. After playing around with a little Google translate, the mystery was finally solved.
This giant python came from Indonesia and after some rough translating, it turns out that it was discovered this last Thanksgiving near the village of Belinyu City. It was found by accident by a group of construction workers who severely injured the reptile while knocking down a large dead tree in which the python was sleeping inside of. The workers put the dying snake out of it's misery and buried it.
It's sad to see such an incredible animal killed, especially one that could have been a new world record size. I wish there were more pictures so we could get a better idea of just how large it was.
I really enjoyed learning about this amazing snake, if you guys have any cool wildlife stories or interesting animals that you think I might enjoy, tell me about it on Facebook

SUMMARY
=======
William Tecumseh Sherman (February 8, 1820 – February 14, 1891) was an American soldier, businessman, educator, and author. He served as a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War (1861–65), for which he received recognition for his outstanding command of military strategy as well as criticism for the harshness of the scorched earth policies he implemented in conducting total war against the Confederate States.Sherman began his Civil War career serving in the First Battle of Bull Run and Kentucky in 1861. He served under General Ulysses S. Grant in 1862 and 1863 during the battles of forts Henry and Donelson, the Battle of Shiloh, the campaigns that led to the fall of the Confederate stronghold of Vicksburg on the Mississippi River, and the Chattanooga Campaign, which culminated with the routing of the Confederate armies in the state of Tennessee. In 1864, Sherman succeeded Grant as the Union commander in the western theater of the war. He proceeded to lead his troops to the capture of the city of Atlanta, a military success that contributed to the re-election of Abraham Lincoln. Sherman's subsequent march through Georgia and the Carolinas further undermined the Confederacy's ability to continue fighting. He accepted the surrender of all the Confederate armies in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida in April 1865, after having been present at most major military engagements in the western theater.
When Grant assumed the U.S. presidency in 1869, Sherman succeeded him as Commanding General of the Army, in which capacity he served from 1869 until 1883. As such, he was responsible for the U.S. Army's engagement in the Indian Wars over the next 15 years. Sherman advocated total war against hostile Indians to force them back onto their reservations. He steadfastly refused to be drawn into politics and in 1875 published his Memoirs, one of the best-known first-hand accounts of the Civil War. British military historian B. H. Liddell Hart declared that Sherman was the first modern general.

SUMMARY
=======
The presidency of George Washington began on April 30, 1789, when Washington was inaugurated as the first President of the United States, and ended on March 4, 1797. Washington took office after the 1788–89 presidential election, the nation's first quadrennial presidential election, in which he was elected unanimously. Washington was re-elected unanimously in the 1792 presidential election, and chose to retire after two terms. He was succeeded by his vice president, John Adams of the Federalist Party.
Washington had established his preeminence among the new nation's Founding Fathers through his service as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War and as President of the 1787 Constitutional Convention. Once the Constitution was approved, it was widely expected that Washington would become the first President of the United States, despite his own desire to retire from public life. In his first inaugural address, Washington expressed both his reluctance to accept the presidency and his inexperience with the duties of civil administration, but he proved an able leader.
Washington presided over the establishment of the new federal government – appointing all of the high-ranking officials in the executive and judicial branches, shaping numerous political practices, and establishing the site of the permanent capital of the United States. He supported Alexander Hamilton's economic policies whereby the federal government assumed the debts of the state governments and established the First Bank of the United States, the United States Mint, and the United States Customs Service. Congress passed the Tariff of 1789, the Tariff of 1790, and an excise tax on whiskey to fund the government and, in the case of the tariffs, address the trade imbalance with Britain. Washington personally led federal soldiers in suppressing the Whiskey Rebellion, which arose in opposition to the administration's taxation policies. He directed the Northwest Indian War, which saw the United States establish control over Native American tribes in the Northwest Territory. In foreign affairs, he assured domestic tranquility and maintained peace with the European powers despite the raging French Revolutionary Wars by issuing the 1793 Proclamation of Neutrality. He also secured two important bilateral treaties, the 1794 Jay Treaty with Great Britain and the 1795 Treaty of San Lorenzo with Spain, both of which fostered trade and helped secure control of the American frontier. To protect American shipping from Barbary pirates and other threats, he re-established the United States Navy with the Naval Act of 1794.

World's Largest Rattlesnake Found in Florida!
Popper Tool Kit:
RESTMORE (30 Day):
Thinergy:
Here is the claim: 15 ft. Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake caught yesterday at the St. Augustine Outlet biggest ever caught on record. What a monster! I made a call to the St. John's County Sheriff’s office and the lady who answered the phone said it is real and happened about two months ago which would put it in September or October, 2009. I have heard of Eastern Diamond Backs being killed that were in excess of 8 feet long which is huge but this is almost twice that size. Makes you want to not go outside without a powerful flashlight at night.

Snorkeling Australia's Great Barrier Reef in 2004
In more than 15 years of marriage after both of our spouses passed just two months apart in 1996, Nancy and I realized that we had several common interests. Among them was our joy in swimming. Nancy, who has a Masters degree in Physical Education, taught swimming for many years at the YWCA and at a private day school in Wilmington, North Carolina. I had polished my swimming skills at a summer camp in the mountains of New York state, and at a local swimming pool in Brooklyn. Being already retired when we met, I was ready to convince Nancy to take an early retirement from her employment as a recreational advisor to senior citizens. Lenore and I had done quite a bit of international travel before she passed, in addition to traveling with our three children to the national parks of Canada and the United States in our 17 foot travel trailer. While I had already been to the Great Barrier Reef of Australia some time in the late '70's, I wanted Nancy to enjoy what I had already seen once before. After retiring from the bench in 1992, I seriously took to my oldest hobby, photography and videography, and we decided to cruise Polynesia, and fly to Australia to visit, swim and snorkel the Great Barrier Reef in 2004, one of the natural wonders of the world. So after cruising around the Polynesian islands for a week where we swam with Blacktip Reef Sharks (another video), it was off to Australia and the Great Barrier Reef. While one can never be disappointed by that wondrous site, it appeared to me, after snorkeling the better part of a day, that there was something different about the many reefs we encountered. It was not as colorful as I had remembered it, and many of the large fish were gone. Whether this was a fact or a flaw in my memory, I can not be certain, but something had changed. Since that time I have learned about the diminution of reefs throughout the world through our own snorkeling experiences, and from stories of climate change and global warming causing a decrease in ocean temperatures around the world. This has had a profound effect upon the reefs of the world, much of which has already disappeared. While climate change is a major cause of reef destruction, The Crown of Thorns Star Fish outbreak in 2000 had a devastating effect upon the reefs in Queensland where the Great Barrier Reef is located, as did destruction by pollution, oil spills and illegal fishing. However, if you have never snorkeled or dived the Great Barrer Reef, you are in for a great treat.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

Chapter 10 4:05:57 - Exploration Updates
To fully explore and understand the ocean, we can no longer rely on a handful of large, expensive research vessels and vehicles. We truly need all hands on deck to do it.
On November 8-9, 2018, we brought together leaders and changemakers in ocean exploration, entertainment, recreation, and art to imagine new ways to empower an open, inclusive global community of ocean explorers. Our goal is to imagine creative ways to make the ocean so pervasive in modern culture that everyone has a positive association with and understanding of the sea.
