Bali – Indonesien „Die Seenomaden“ Sea Gypsies – Chao Leh
Wikipedia schreibt dazu:
I love Bajau / Saya cinta Bajau (music Buddha Bar, Borneo feb-march 2013)
We spent around 2 weeks in this archipelago located between Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines, we had the chance to visit all the archipelago (including places that see tourists one time every 10 years!), and we stayed in local houses of Sea Gypsies (Bajau Laut). While most of Bajau live now in houses built over water in different islands, some of them still keep traditional life, living in their boat. Little by little, the daily life becomes more easy thank to aquaculture (seaweed) but not for everybody, many Bajau children still don't go to school. This area has been dangerous for tourists for a while due to regular terror attacks coming from South Philippines, so behind these images of paradise, travelling there is at your own risk...

Wonderfull Indonesia - Ancient Tribe Of Nias • North Sumatra
Wonderfull Indonesia :
The Nias people are a community that still actively living within the norms and practices of the indigenous culture. Customary law of the Nias people is generally referred to as fondrakö, which regulates all aspects of life from birth to death.[3] Historical evidence of megalithic structures and carvings of stones that are found in the interior of the island proved that ancient Nias people practiced megalith culture. The caste system is also recognized in Nias society,[4] whereby the highest level out of the 12 levels in the Nias caste system is Balugu.[5] In order to reach this level of the caste, one must be able to carry out big festivals by inviting thousands of people and slaughtering of thousands of pigs for several days.

Illegal fishing on the Gili Islands
Here we have another shocking video taken in the Gilis of compressor fishing at Haan's reef on Gili Air. This is a personal favourite as it has many rare marine life to be found. The practice of compressor fishing is highly dangerous and very damaging to both the coral and marine life. Please donate to the Gili Eco Trust so we can finally end these practices.
It was by sheer chance this footage was taken, the culprit did not even realise for quite a while that he was being filmed, and showed no reaction whatsoever when he realised he had been caught in the act.
May I remind you this is definately not normal practice as the patrols from the Gili Eco Trust are trying, but over such a large area it is extremely difficult.
If every visitor donated even just $1 or $2 to the Gili Eco Trust the money could be used to buy more boats for patrolling. The visitors are flocking to the islands, and already another example is that now, before the real start of high season the rubbish dump is already full.
If you want to come and enjoy these islands, please please be aware of your own impact on such a precious and fragile protected marine park.
Note: With thanks to Delphine from the Gili Eco Trust for supplying the footage, for more information about Eco projects please visit giliecotrust.com and donations.
Thanks to Island Promotions Travel, for supporting the cause, who can be contacted through gili-paradise.com for general information about the islands.

The Living of BADJAU - Cebu City, Philippines PART 1
The BADJAU'S ... are an indigenous ethnic group of Malaysia and the Southern Philippines. Bajau was used to describe the more sea-oriented, boat-dwelling. For most of their history, the Bajau have been a nomadic, seafaring people, living off the sea by trading and subsistence fishing. This is their everyday living catching and diving for money (mostly coins) that are thrown for them from the passengers on board. This video was taken on a ship at the pier. The weather was hot and humid. It's amazing how these people survived on their own way.

Sumatra – Indonesien „Tobasee“
Wikipedia schreibt:

Indonesia. Toraja Funeral (Buffalo Fight) | Tribes & Ethnic Groups
After two hours bumping along the road, the catafalque finally arrives at the place Mayanna’s family have constructed to hold the funeral ceremony.
The most surprising thing is the party atmosphere. It is difficult to imagine, especially for westerners, that we are at a funeral. But this also forms part of the ritual – the families of the dead man and his widow compete over the catafalque to demonstrate the strength of the clan.

▶ Documentary. Indonesia. The Ghosts of Sulawesi
With spirits somewhat calmer, the catafalque is taken down to transfer the coffin to the sanctuary.
Once it has been placed inside, with the head pointing west, the funeral can officially begin. From now on, and for five days, the peace of Kete will be broken as never before.
The sound of the gong marks the rhythm of the ceremony and little by little the atmosphere becomes more solemn.
Mayanna’s grandchildren line up to receive the condolences and to thank the guests for their presence. The protocol is very important and many rules have to be respected so that no one feels offended. In the background, the widows remain sitting beside the coffin, cooking food which they offer to the dead man. An invitation to visit the deceased is a real honour and it is considered impolite to say no; if you accept, you will have to ask the dead man for permission to leave, just as if he were still alive.
Each group of guests is preceded by their offerings. This is the perfect time to demonstrate how well you are doing in life, and there are constant exclamations at the number of animals a single individual is capable of giving, or the size of some of the pigs, like this one – it is all ten men can do to get it out of the van.
The quality of the gifts is inspected and duly registered. In the past, they would be simply etched in the memories of the old people, but today every detail is carefully written down.
The most appreciated, without a doubt, are the albino buffalos, which here are called Tedong Bonga and can cost over two hundred thousand pesetas, a fortune if we consider that the average salary of a civil servant is scarcely fifteen thousand pesetas a month. Funerals are a good occasion to settle certain debts. In Tana Toraja, a gift received now is seen as a debt that must be paid back later. The gifts the deceased’s family receives will have to be repaid in the future by attending other funerals for years to come.
Once the guests have been shown to their places, one of the highlights will begin – the buffalo fight.
The Toraja people are proud to test the bravery of the buffalos, and demonstrate that the deceased will be accompanied to heaven by such powerful and courageous animals.
The second day of the funeral is coming to an end. Mayanna’s family is very happy with the gifts they have received, and it is time to repay the guests for their generosity. The young women hand out honey cakes, tea, coffee, rice and palm wine.
