Sebastopol California Walking Tour for Tourists and RVers
There are no campgrounds in Sebastopol, but it's on the way to the campgrounds in Guerneville, Duncan Mills and on the beaches, like at Bodega Bay. It's also near the KOA in Petaluma. (The KOA in Petaluma is very expensive, like $60-70 a night, and they pack you in like sardines. The campgrounds in Duncan Mills, like Casini Ranch, are much more scenic, like right up to the Redwoods, and closer to the beaches. Those are $50-$70 a night for RVs.) There are also some Sonoma county parks, like Lake Sonoma a little west of Healdsberg, that take RVs, and are about $35 a night.
Sebastopol is an eco friendly, socially conscious little town, saturated with kitchy and whimsical art, nice people, classic hippy style, great restraunts and organic and gourmet food, reasonably priced. They also have movies, lectures, music, and other entertainment on a regular basis. So if you are in Sonoma county, stop by Sebastopol, on Hwy 116 or Hwy12.

Skate Garden Skate Park Sebastopol California - Skaters and gardeners alike will enjoy this unique combination skate park and community garden. The City of Sebastopol has built a build a state-of-the-art skate park on this site, surrounded by a community garden with demonstration areas for sustainable gardening practices. This special park acquired through the Matching Grant Program will attract young people throughout western Sonoma County to skateboard in a safe and fun environment, and to learn about organic gardening and help grow local produce. Artists from the Sebastopol Center for the Arts have participated in the design process, adding to the creative mix and the unique character of this community park.
The Laguna SkateGarden is located on Laguna Park Way in northeast Sebastopol and is open everyday from 8 am to sunset. Helmets and pads are ALWAYS required for skaters.

Farm School at PSC Tours the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center
This is part of a series of videos documenting my experience as a student in the Farm School at the Permaculture Skills Center in Sebastopol, California. This is a 13 week program designed to give students a comprehensive understanding of permaculture, ecological design, and farming, as well as helping to mentor them into careers in the world of organic, and better than organic agriculture. I am enrolled in the Ecological Landscaper Immersion track of the Farm School, which means I will also be learning about permaculture and ecological design as it relates to the landscaping industry.
The first week of classes at the Farm School were capped off by a great tour of the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center. The OAEC is a permaculture demonstration site, educational center, and eco-village that has been under the care of many dedicated individuals since the 70's. One of those people is Brock Dolman, who walked us around and gave us a tour of the many different aspects of the OAEC landscape. There was a lot of focus on how water is managed and directed across the land to reduce erosion and promote infiltration, ultimately keeping the water in nearby Dutch Bill Creek clean and clear for the endangered Coho salmon.

Author and teacher Jim's message explores the awakening to inner peace and freedom, and what is involved in transforming conflict, stress, and suffering into clarity, well-being, and optimal performance.
His journey began in New Zealand, where he was the grandson of one of the first women elected to the Parliament there. He served as an army officer with New Zealand forces in Vietnam in 1967-68, studied English literature and political science at the University of Auckland, and then eventually traveled to the United States, where he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic, graduating with honors in 1976.
After settling in northern California, he built a successful private practice teaching others how to heal and transform their lives from within. In 1983, he embarked on a nine-month spiritual quest through China, Bali, Nepal, India, and the South Pacific. A year later, when he returned to California, he met Jean Klein, a European master of Advaita Vedanta, the direct path to awakening. Under Jean's guidance, Jim eventually realized his true nature and found the inner peace and freedom he had spent twenty years seeking.
He has published two books focusing on integrating spirituality with everyday life: The Way of Harmony: Walking the Inner Path to Balance, Happiness, and Success (Avon, 1999), and The Ultimate Cure: The Healing Energy Within You (Llewellyn, 1995). He has also written a text for health professionals titled Somatic Technique: A Simplified Method of Releasing Chronically Tight Muscles and Enhancing Mind/Body Awareness (Wild Goose Press, 2001), and has published articles in Yoga Journal, New Realities, and Science of Mind.
He has facilitated over two hundred seminars and workshops, including teaching at Esalen Institute, and has shared his work with audiences nationwide through numerous radio interviews, book signings, and television appearances.
Jim lives in Sebastopol, California, where, along with his writing, and his speaking and workshop schedule, he sees people privately, guiding them on the journey of awakening.

Palm Drive Hospital has one of the most advanced Intensive Care Units in California and a state-of-the-art robotic telemedicine program directed by James Gude, MD. Robotic telemedicine makes it possible for primary care physicians and our local specialists to consult immediately with on-call specialists throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Palm Drive is the hub of a growing network of hospitals that use a mobile, wireless robot to bring San Francisco Bay Area specialists directly to patients' bedsides. Our experience with our robot, Herb, and studies from other hospitals show that the robotic link with specialists saves lives and improves patient care, while lowering costs for both patients and hospitals.
Before robotic telemedicine was introduced in our Intensive Care Unit, if a patient needed a consult from a specialist, like a neurosurgeon, the primary physician had only two choices. Either a neurosurgeon from Santa Rosa would be found in a timely manner or the patient had to be transferred to a ICU with immediate access to that specialty, which generally meant a transfer to a San Francisco Bay Hospital.
Now with a state-of-the-art robotic telemedicine program, patients can remain in their local community hospital. Whether patients are in the ICU or on the medical-surgical ward, all have immediate access to the specialists who can make a difference in their medical recovery.
