This is how a beginner Surf lesson in El Poris Tenerife really feels like.
Tenerife has been an important surfing spot since the 1970s.
In the late 1960s, surfers started to come here because California and Australia started to be very crowdie. They called the Canary Island “Hawaii of the Atlantic”. The islands have a total of 100 surfing spots.
Your surf lessons are normally in the mornings however there are also afternoon sessions. Because of this, it is recommended to eat something light, something nutritious that will not weigh you down. If you are new in the beautiful world of surfing then the instructor is the king or queen of the day. They’ll tell you about surf safety and introduce you to surfing. The coaching starts on the land where you will learn how to lay on the board, how to paddle how to sit and how to pop up. In the water you will fall, you will swallow water and you will feel that you are the worst student ever, which is completely fine. Surfing as any other sport needs practice but the beauty of it is that also the first experience is a lot of fun.
Many beginners also manage to pop up a few times before the end of the class which feels like you won the Oscars.

Přemýšleli jstě někdy, jak se 40-letý Holanďan může cítit na dětské sjezdovce někde na Mísečkách? Mezi dětma? Přijel se naučit lyžovat, sotva stojí na rovině, padá z vleku a děti o 35 let mladší mu švíkají obloučky pod nohama.
Tak přesně takhle jsem se cítil na Tenerife na Kanárských ostrovech. Po 10 dnech lekcí surfování se školou Secret Surf School v El Poris jsem byl schopný se postavit a rovně sjet vlnku. Hrozný. Žádné zatáčky, žádný tubus, prostě jsem šúsem sjel vlnu. Tak na úrovni modré, nebo spíše zelené sjezdovky. A malá děcka s prstem v nose surfovala s úsměvem na tvářích. :)
Ale to vedle mně ve vlně nesměl nikdo jet, jinak jsem se lekl a spadl rovnou. Každopádně super zážitek. Doporučuji. Co jste se naposledy zkusili naučit nového?

Es verdad lo que dicen. En Tenerife tienes un spot cada diez minutos. Que no te gusta una ola, pues a por la otra.
Puedes elegir fondo de arena, de piedra, arrecife volcánico...
Se respira muy buen rollo en el agua. Y además, ¡puedes surfear durante todo el año!
Olvídate del traje de invierno, porque aquí, el agua está templada siempre.
