Sedona Off-Road - Broken Arrow Trail, Soldiers Pass, Schnebly Hill, Red Rock Powerline
On this adventure we headed across state lines to Sedona Arizona for a trip we had been planning for 2 months. We knew Sedona was a very scenic place with all the red rocks but we also heard there were some amazing trails out there that we needed to go check out. So along with some of our great friends, we packed up and headed out for a long weekend of wheeling.
TrailRecon Amazon Shop:
Once everyone in our group made their way to Sedona, we all met for some good food, drinks and a little comradery at the Sedona Pizza Company before we kicked things off the next morning. If you visit Sedona, I highly recommend making this a stop on your list.
The next morning bright and early we met up at the Coffee Pot Restaurant for breakfast which came highly recommended. We aired down, did a quick gear check and had a short drivers meeting to discuss the days plans and headed out.
The first trail of the day was going to be Broken Arrow which was just a few miles down the road. This was the one trail we were all the most excited about.
The Broken Arrow trail did not disappoint. This 3.8 mile long trail had some great obstacles at almost every turn and the views of the red rocks all around never got old. As we made our way to the top of Devils Staircase, are anticipation level started to climb. Because with all the rain that morning, we knew it might be a bit of a challenge.
Devils Staircase really is much steeper than it does on camera for sure, but we all had a blast making our way down. However there were a couple in our group that just had to see if they could make their way up and without a doubt watching Little Big Jeep hammer their way up might have been the highlight of the day.
Broken Arrow is a very popular trail and we must have come across at least 15 Tour guided Jeeps along the way.
As we made our way off broken arrow it was time to stop for lunch, soak in the surroundings and get ready for Soldier Pass which was the next trail on the agenda.
The trailhead to soldiers pass was just a few miles down the road from broken arrow. This trail had a couple obstacles along the way, but not as difficult as broken arrow. But once again, the amazing scenery was around every corner
There are 2 must see destination along soldiers pass, the first one we stopped at was Devil’s Kitchen which is a massive sink hole and there are no railis, so watch your step. The second stop is the Seven Apache Pools, a very remarkable spot to visit
On our third and last trail run of the day to Schneblys Hill, mother nature decided to turn on the water works and I think everyone agreed that it made going up this mountain much more scenic with all the water falls coming off the rocks. This trail is easy and you really don’t even need 4 week drive. The gate was close half way through, but no worries as the views at this spot were breathtaking.
On day 2 we planned on doing Red Rock Powerline trail and then take the optional off shoot to Outlaw trail. This trail is just over 30 miles round trip and we expected it to take a up the whole day. This trail is rated as difficult, but aside from a couple small obstacles that you would want to have high clearance, it was that bad at all.
From all the rain the night before, the mud was exceptionally thick and I everyones tires were really gummed up which made things a little interesting going up the side of Black Mountain.
The ruins at the end of the Outlaw trail exceeded all our expectations. These ruins date back to the 1100’s and to see so much of it standing was very cool. This is a must-see destination and if you are out in Sedona. There is a flat dirt road that you can take to go straight there, but I think taking the Red Rock Powerline road is the best way to do it.

Ye Olde UFO Store in Sedona, AZ
Here's a neat store in Sedona, AZ: Ye Olde UFO Store. My wife and I enjoy visiting this store when we visit the town. Their Website is and I have to give thumbs up for using the X-Files theme on the homepage. I'm a big X-Files fan. Whether you're a UFO enthusiast or just an SF fan like myself, this store is pretty cool to check out. Sedona is known as a UFO hotspot, and interestingly enough my wife knew of this a long time ago before I ever did when we used to be pen pals (and I'm an AZ native). She'd read in a Japanese magazine about UFO sightings in Sedona. It's a very cool store with displays of information of various sightings and phenomenon, including the Phoenix Lights, which were observed by countless people across the state and I remember that night quite well. The owner has a great sense of humor. Check it out!
Dispersed Camping North of Sedona - Coconino National Forest
A video of us camping in the Coconino National Forest approximately 16 miles north of Sedona, AZ off of the 89a. This was shot over a period of 6 days. The area was empty the first day we got there, but began filling up in the following days. Hope this helps and please like, comment, and subscribe for more videos!

BRIEF BIO
________________________________________________________________
I am a retired, 64 year old, not quite divorced male with two daughters and a son.
This is the continuing chronicle of my exodus from traditional house living to a full time, solo nomadic lifestyle out of a single axle, 6' X 12' self converted cargo trailer, towed with a 1980 GMC Rally Wagon van.
The Trailer is a 3000lb GVW, 12X6 LOOK V-Nose with 72 square feet inside, and 60 additional square feet in two external, tilt out, hard walled, enclosed sleeping pods that could sleep 6 people in a pinch, 2 people with excellent comfort and privacy. It has 400 watts of Renogy solar panels on the roof and 200Ah in two, 100Ah AGM 12V batteries. For 110V needs, there is a 600W continuous / 1200W surge Power Tech-ON inverter for all my 110V needs. A BlueSky 3000i w/thermal sensor controls the charge system. It has an inside bathroom in the V-Nose with a Luggable Loo toilet. I am using red cedar chips and doubled, 13 gallon trash bags for sanitation. Pics of the complete build are on the Flickr website linked somewhere in this description.
A future goal is to buy land to homestead on. Hopefully the land will be in northern Idaho, but I will settle for anywhere that is beautiful and arable with ample sun and water.

Sedona A Jewel In The Desert (Short film/Documentary)
Welcome! We at Irvines Images are proud to release the short film Sedona A Jewel In The Desert. This movie was filmed entirely here in beautiful Sedona, Arizona and it was a long time in the making and was featured and shown at the Sedona International Film Festival. It also almost won an award there as well, it came within half a point in it's category of the audiences choice. And.. We plan on turning this into a full feature length movie in the future and covering all of the seasons in Sedona, and we plan on going into some of the other subjects that often define the area as well, like the community, UFO's, history and stuff like that.
Please show some support if you liked our effort by liking/commenting/sharing/subscribing and that kind of stuff! Thanks! And I hope you enjoy the movie!

Sedona, Arizona - October 2012
Flew out to visit my parents in Phoenix, AZ for a longer weekend and drove up to see Sedona. Had no idea what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. Also got a chance to try out a fake standing wave at the luxurious hotel we were in.

Time Lapes - On the way to Sedona, Arizona from Phoenix
Time lapse
This is my first attempt at time lapse.
It was taken on the way to Sedona, Arizona from Phoenix using 1 photo every 2 seconds and then joining them as a movie using 10 photos per second of movie (each photo for 0.1 sec).
There were couple of stops along the way, also rain, sunshine, and rainbow.
the total number of photos were around 2,100 taken as full resolution of the GoPro Hero 2 (11Mp). It took many hours for the import of the photos to iMovie on my macbook pro. Not sure why. Next time i will try a lower resolution photo originals as extra pixels are not needed once it is converted to movie.

Sedona Arizona what to do on Vacation Visiting
Hold phone portrait and expand view. 1080P
My wife and I visited Sedona Arizona and I wanted to share it so people can get an idea of what you can do out there. We had an amazing time and plan to always return when able.
We stayed in Sedona at The Inn Above Oak Creek which overlooks Oak Creek in the back yard. You are close to everything at this location and in your own part of Sedona when entering the front door. There is a lower courtyard area that you can relax in during the evenings when you need a break. The courtyard has private seating that is waterfront as well as a hammock and gas grill that you are free to use. Very clean, very nice staff and well equipped.
The balloon ride was taken through Northern Light Balloon Expeditions. The pilots are very experienced and really enjoy what they do. This is the full experience of taking the balloon out, getting it prepped and taking off into flight as well as recovery. The recovery is done by crews that follow you. Once you have landed and the balloon is recovered you receive breakfast and there is a traditional toast. The flight happens early in the morning when winds are calm and the sun is coming over the horizon. The flight is over the Coconino National Forest we saw Mule Deer, Owls, Jack and Cottontail rabbits.
Horse riding took place at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood Arizona. This is located in the Park and done by a very friendly family through Trail Horse Adventures. You are looked after very well and the activities are very professionally done. We took the 1 hour ride where next time we will take the 1.5 hour ride. It was really enjoyable going through the river twice and riding through the forest.
The Canyon which has the red wavy walls in the video is called the Lower Antelope Canyon in Page Arizona. We took the tour through Ken's Lower Antelope Canyon Tour. The guides are very helpful in making the climb into the canyon safe. There are limitations on what you can take with you so check out their website. Booking in advance is a plus as it helps with standing in line since this is a very popular tour. The guides will also help you take photos so you don't end up with just selfie style photos on the trip.
Also in Page Arizona and 10 mins from Antelope Canyon is lake Powell. Lake Powell is a reservoir that in the 450 ft deep part of the canyon makes a water supply for three states. At Antelope Point Marina they offer boat tours up into the narrow water filled parts of the canyon. Its truly amazing and a good time.
West of Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon about 15 minutes there is Horseshoe Bend. This is a bend in the river which carved out this amazing horseshoe shape canyon located in Marble Canyon. Out of all the amazing sites we visited this was in the top three, it's breathtaking.
The meteor crater that we visited is located over an hour east of Flagstaff Arizona in Meteor Crater National Park. Its the worlds most preserved Meteor Crater in the world. The tour we took tells about the scientist that worked many years to prove it was actually a crater instead of a volcano gas explosion. There are a lot of volcanoes in Arizona. They also explain all about the impact, debri fields and the effects of the blast. This is a great experience.
Just west of the Meteor Crater is an exit and place called Two Guns. There is a ghost town just off the exit which is remnants of old route 66 to include a small stretch of the original road. Behind the Route 66 buildings is a historic ghost town called Canyon Diablo. There is an actual canyon named that but also a town which still stands in ruins. If you look up its history you will find many stories about its amazing history, to my wife and I it's history attracted us to it. This is not a park. doesn't have bathrooms or available food or water. This is just a ghost town in the desert although it's filled with history. When you are coming back to Sedona from the the Meteor Crater you can visit Flagstaff which has many great restaurants as well as attractions like the Hopi Indian ruins which are free to enter.
In the video we visited many places in Red Rock State Park located in Sedona, here are some of the names: Oak Creek Canyon, Robbers Roost, Coconino National Forest, Cathedral Rock, Oak Creek, Airport Mesa, Indian Point, and Boynton Canyon. We also visited Vortex sites located at Airport Mesa, Cathedral Rock and Boynton Canyon.
The cliff dwelling we went to see is south of Sedona called Montezumas Castle. This was a great experience and worth the drive out.
The restaurant called Haunted Hamburger in the video is located in Jerome. That is a history filled town with amazing view and experiences you could only have in Jerome.
