Osorezan Bodai-ji Temple - Aomori - 恐山菩提寺 - 4K Ultra HD
Alongside Koyansan and Heizan, Osorezan or the Mount Osore, is one of the three most sacred places in Japan. Over 1,000 years ago, a Buddhist priest in search of a mountain resembling the world of Buddha, stumbled upon Mount Osore and its unique landscape, which, according to the legend, was like discovering the world of Buddha itself so he decided to erect the Bodai-ji Temple.
Rich with volcanic activity and a strong sulfur smell, Osorezan is said to be the entrance to the afterlife, where dead souls pass through before being sent to Hell or paradise. Osorezan is also very popular among Japanese for its Bodaiji’s festival where mediums try to help people to communicate with their loved ones.

Senso-ji Temple (Asakusa) - Tokyo - 浅草寺 - 4K Ultra HD
Also known as the Asakusa Kannon Temple, Senso-ji (or Sensoji) is one of Tokyo most popular and beloved Buddhist Temple! According to the legend, in the year 628 two brothers fished a beautiful statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, in the Sumida river. Thinking they disturb the resting place of Kannon, they decided to put back the statue back in the river, but, each time they try to do so, the statue magically returned to them. It is after many attempts that they understood that Kannon wanted them to erect a temple for her, and it was decided at that very moment to build what we now all know as the Senso-Ji temple.

Located in the heart of Hirosaki city in Aomori (northern Japan), the Fujita Memorial Garden was built in 1919 by Fujita Kenichi who was the first chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
While not unique in Japan, this garden features both a traditional Japanese house, now used as an art gallery, and a European style house which has been turned into a cake shop. The latter happened to be Mr. Fujita’s main residence. There are also a pair of Japanese gardens.
Despite it’s modest size, the Fujita Memorial Garden is a fantastic place all year long for a small stroll and some good cakes!

Mie Kongōshō-ji - 金剛證寺 - 4K Ultra HD
Mie Kongōshō-ji - 金剛證寺 - 4K Ultra HD : A good hour away by car from Ise, Kongosho-Ji is a secluded temple hidden on top of Mount Asama, Mie’s highest mountain. Founded in 825 by Kobo Daishi (774~835), a buddhist saint founder of the Shingon or “True Word” school of Buddhism, Kongosho-Ji is in fact a rampart designed to protect Ise Jingu from any spiritual or human threats coming from the north-east of the city.

JAPAN BY TRAIN: Hakodate - Aomori - Hirosaki - Odate - Akita [HD] (01/Jan/2014)
Video footage recorded during my trip all over Japan between December 27th 2013 and January 10th 2014.
This clip includes images of the Hakodate - Aomori - Hirasaki - Odate - Akita journey, with train changes at some stations and under heavy snow storm sometimes. The Hakodate - Aomori line connects the Hokkaido and the Honshu islands through the undersea Seikan tunnel.
Please note that these videos do not intend to show the tourist attractions at the cities I stop at, but the journey itself (particularly the train routes). For castles, monuments or colourful streets I preferred taking photographs... Sorry for that!
Seiryu-e Festival
We like festivals. We love festivals with dragons roaming the streets!
Kiyomizu Temple Seiryu-e (Blue Dragon Dance)
I've come across this festival when I'm guiding the tourists at Kiyomizu temple in Spring. Seiryu, a dragon, is said to drink the waterfall in Kiyomizu Temple. Colorful parade of the blue dragon with people in traditional costume. So spiritual and authentic mood...

Great Buddha of KAMAKURA | Best SHIRASU-DON | Japan Vlog Day 8 | Part II
This year my daughter and I took a trip for 10 days to Japan. It was a non-stop, culture and tummy filled adventure with caffeine kicks in between kind of trip. It was really tiring but fun as hell!
HERE'S DAY 8 PART II of our Japan adventure!
In this video, we explore Kamakura. Kamakura is a city in Kaganawa Prefecture and is just less than an hour away from Tokyo via train. The atmosphere is laid-back perhaps due to the fact that it's coastal and Enoshima is its close neighbor.
It's also famous for its Grand Buddha statue and shirasu. Don't leave Kamakura without sampling this. Shirasu (しらす) is a delicacy in Japanese cuisine which commonly consists of baby Sardine or any whitebait fish. It's either served raw or boiled with salty water. But in this video you will see us looking for Shirasu-don served tempura style. Truly worth the trip! It's definitely one of our most memorable meals in Japan!
Our Japan trip is coming to an end and it's almost bittersweet. Don't want it to end but at the same time I'm grateful to experience Japanese culture and eat local authentic dishes this country has to offer. We would definitely come back and stay longer. Ten days is not enough!

Mimuroto-ji - Kyoto - 三室戸寺 - 4K Ultra HD
Located not too far from Kosho-ji, and in the northern hills of Uji City, Mimuroto-ji (Mimurotoji), also known as the flower temple, was founded roughly 1,200 years ago. It features not only a gorgeous three-tiered pagoda, but also a nicely designed main hall, built in the early 1800s that houses an image of the thousand-armed Kannon Bodhisattva. Also on display there is a statue of an ox and a rabbit. Touching the stone ball in the ox's mouth is believed to lead to victories in your endeavors, while reaching your hands into the stone sphere in front of the rabbit, is supposed to grant your wish, but only if you manage to put on equilibrium the egg- shaped object found in the sphere.

Japan Files #14: A Trip to Taisanji Temple in Kobe
More of a traditional Japanese feel to things in this video. Here is footage from a Sunday afternoon trip to a local temple. Taisanji is one of the oldest in the area, dating back to the Kamakura period or 14th century. Set against the autumn leaves, it really is quite special. I left feeling peaceful...
