Self Realization Fellowship Hermitage Meditation Gardens
These meditation gardens are located in Encinitas just a few miles from the ocean. There are so many nooks and cranny's to sit peacefully. You have the choice of places tucked away covered by foliage, relaxing coy ponds with the most calming little waterfalls, or in the sun looking out into the AMAZING Pacific Ocean. It does not get more calming than here.

You can easily lose yourself here in the Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens. And that wouldn’t be because of the extensive vegetation or the winding paths. This beautiful garden is peaceful and cleansing, and people can lose themselves in thought.
Stairs, along with stone and dirt paths, take visitors through the well-manicured garden filled with tropical plants, vibrant flowers, potted plants and trees. Small creeks and mini waterfalls lead to quaint ponds, filled with colorful koi fish. Benches are located along the path and hidden in remote corners so visitors can soak in the beauty, rest or meditate.
The meditation garden extends all the way to the cliffs above the beach, so it is the perfect place to watch a sunset.
A plaque at the cliff-side edge of the garden points out that it is the original location of the Golden Lotus Temple, built in 1937.
Paramahansa Yogananda had founded the Self-Realization Fellowship in 1920, coming to the United States from India that year to serve as a delegate to an international congress of religions. He spread the teachings of meditation to Americans and believed in the non-sectarian worship of one God. Thousands came to his services.
Yogananda returned to Encinitas in 1937 to establish the temple. Then in 1942, the temple became unstable due to cliff erosion and was dismantled after sliding part way down the beach bluff. Yogananda then founded temples in Hollywood and San Diego. The original garden landscape was directed by Yogananda, who also did much of the planting.
Yogananda used to swim in a pool that still can be seen along the north edge of the garden. It is now drained and empty.
The beach can be reached by stairs in Swami’s Park south of the gardens. The park was named after Yogananda, who was also known as Swami Yogananda.

Encinitas, California Offers A Relaxed Atmosphere & Sense of Small Town
Film produced by
Encinitas, California is one of the best places to live in San Diego. The city is located in North County and is bordered by Solana Beach to the south and Carlsbad to the North.
From the beach communities of Leucadia, Old Encinitas and Cardiff, to the rural Olivenhain, there is definitely something for everyone. With a population of just under 60,000 and a median home price of roughly 1 million dollars, Encinitas, California boasts a laid back vibe that just somehow seems to make life more worth living.
Driving down the coast highway in the region of Old Encinitas and Leucadia, you’ll see the iconic Encinitas welcome arch. Tree lined streets mixed with trendy, yet casual restaurants, and a perfect mix of businesses and housing styles. You’ll likely see a yoga or pilates class ending and people walking out with a sense of bliss.
Surfers are also sure to find a great time at Swamis, a well known surfing point break.
The southernmost part of Encinitas is a small community known as Cardiff, which boasts its own zip code and approximately 12,000 total residents. A well known landmark is the Cardiff Kook which is a statue of a man surfing that locals dress up in various costumes throughout the year. Cardiff is also is home to the San Elijo state campground that sits right on the ocean bluffs. If you are lucky enough to get a campsite here, be sure to enjoy the beach or try surfing the famous Cardiff Reef. For dinner you can head to Seaside Market to grab a burgundy tri-trip to take back and cook at your campsite. And for breakfast, don’t forget about VG donuts.
Moving further east in Encinitas you will find the newer planned developments and ample shopping. A little farther east, is rural Olivenhain, where you’ll find ranch style homes on larger lots and horse properties.
There is also spectacular golfing at Encinitas Ranch, which is one of the few golf courses in San Diego. The course is located on magnificent bluffs with ocean views.
To unwind in a tranquil environment, one can step into the Self Realization & Meditation Garden and stroll through the lush plants and koi ponds. There is also the San Diego Botanical Gardens where one can explore four miles of garden trails, beautiful views, trees and the nation’s largest bamboo collection.
The relaxed atmosphere and sense of a small town in a big city is what draws people to Encinitas, California. It is truly a wonderful place to call home.
Flashbacks in Encinitas, California || the culture collective by Kelley Louise
On my most recent trip to California, my friend and I filmed some fun footage at one of our favorite vintage and thrifting stores: Flashbacks.
Flashbacks is a fun buy/sell/trade store with two locations (Encinitas and Hillcrest). With a huge supply of dresses, tops, jackets and shoes, they've got your usual thrifting shopping experience, but the best part is the quirky, era-themed pieces like wigs and crazy ensembles. Definitely head to Flashbacks if you want to DIY an outfit for an over-the-top party.
Of course, every San Diegan knows that if you visit the Encinitas location, you have to grab some food from Swami's Cafe (I recommend the Acai bowl) and head over to the Meditation Gardens for some incredible views of the Pacific.
Flashbacks is located at 576 South Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, California 92024. Their Hillcrest location is at 3849 5th Ave, San Diego, California 92103.

Attendees also experience a special pilgrimage outing to the SRF Encinitas Hermitage and meditation gardens, where Paramahansa Yogananda lived and communed with God for many years. In addition, there are numerous interactive activities that make use of an amphitheater, music room, technology lab, conservation hiking trail, basketball court, and soccer/track field.

Large & Silent UFO Filmed Hovering Over Encinitas, California. August 12, 2018
The follow is the account of this footage which was posted to Reddit by Bunniess1.
my boss showed me a video of a strange occurrence last night and I told him i would upload it to reddit to see if we could get any explanations as it scared the crap out of him.
He took this video at 10:28 PM PST on Sunday August 12th. He went outside in his backyard to turn his pool filter off. His house is near the corner of Encinitas Blvd and El camino real in san diego. He said that the object appeared to be very large and did not make any sounds so he eliminated a helicopter, he said it was also bigger than a helicopter so he didnt think it could be a drone. He said it was hovering near a shopping center that is right behind his house. Once he saw the object, he ran inside to grab his phone to video and this was when he came back outside.
Anyone know what this could be? Do they make drones that are that large? We do live near a lot of military bases, is there a chance that this could be some sort of military drone or plane that can move like that and be silent?
P.S. Sorry this post is written so poorly, it is difficult to put someone else's experience into words. I have included the video in two parts as the whole video was too large to send from my phone to email.
Many thanks to Bunniess1 for sharing this stunning footage and to view the original post
