MAY 29, 2011—We've pretty much explored most of the popular attractions and tried most of the rides in Sentosa Island when, quite by accident, we discovered the Aviary, Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom, and Nature Discovery in the northwestern tip of the island.

Singapore Sentosa - Butterfly Park
The Butterfly Park is part of the Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom attraction at Singapore's Sentosa. Singapore has about 290 known species of butterflies, and Butterfly Park claims that they have 70 species on display. I went on a quiet sunny day and spotted only a handful of species. There are not many butterflies on display. The main attractions in the park are the Toco Toucan, the Red-and-Green Macaws, the Blue-and-Yellow Macaws, and a lazy-looking Green Iguana, where visitors can take pictures with them for SGD10 for every picture. I also spotted 2 monitor lizards, a small one which moves freely and a large one kept behind glasses. A tiny house at the side is the pupa house, you will see many pupae inside and with a window slightly open to allow fully developed butterflies to escape. The place is quite small as you can see from the video. The place is open to the public everyday from 9.30am to 7pm. There is a small entrance fee though.

Sentosa Hiking and exploration Part 1:
We always thought that Sentosa island (Southern bigger island of Singapore, its name meant tranquillity in Malay) only mushroomed with snazzy bars occupying on its beaches, with many luxurious hotels located across the island. There is an integrated resort (Resort New World) together with a casino and theme park fronted at the Sentosa, boosting with various kinds of fun and laughter activities.
This time, I explored Sentosa with my groups of like-minded friends look into a different kind of tropical state of luxe – the type of exploration into the natural world of richness and freshness.
Sentosa, it is home to the nature of rarer habitat types, such as rocky seashores and coastal forests which are fast disappearing on the mainland.
There are several rare specimens of flora and fauna, including a tree that is the last of its kind in Singapore.
While peacocks and cheeky macaques are commonly roaming on Sentosa, (actually we managed to sighted a peacock but wriggered away fast) .

Sentosa Nature Discovery aims to educate and allow guests to appreciate the various species of flora and fauna that are unique to Sentosa's environmental landscape. Housed in a former monorail station that has been creatively adapted, it features interactive and colourful exhibits as well as a 1.8 km-long nature walk on an elevated boardwalk that was once the monorail's tracks.
Sentosa is a popular island resort in Singapore, visited by some twenty million people a year.[1] Attractions include a 2 km (1.2 mi) long sheltered beach, Fort Siloso, two golf courses, the Merlion, 14 hotels, and the Resorts World Sentosa, featuring the theme park Universal Studios Singapore.
