Mouthwatering BUSAN FOOD TOUR - KOREAN STREET FOOD at Jagalchi market + MORE
Subscribe for more food and travel videos:
BUSAN is a food paradise and when you visit there are a number of dishes you have got to EAT. We take you on a STREET FOOD tour of Busan’s famous foods…
We eat:
Eomuk
As a port city Busan is famous for its eomuk or fishcakes. There are countless street vendors selling this popular snack including tricked up versions featuring sausages, cheese and shellfish. Street food vendors selling fish eomuk are all over the city, otherwise Samjin are the most popular, commercialised eomuk eatery in Korea.
Yubu Jeomoni
These fried tofu bags stuffed with glass noodles and julienned vegetables are a firm winter favourite. Served in a warming broth the tofu soaks up the flavoursome soup and helps beat away those chills. Look out for these at the street carts in BIFF Square.
Milmeyon
Milmyeon or wheat noodles are a popular dish to eat in summer when they are served cold. Chewy noodles languish in an icy cold broth (sheets of ice are added to the broth) together with cucumber, pear, slices of beef and a dollop of gochujang sauce. It might not be the most ideal thing to be eating in the winter time but it sure is tasty! We ate at at Halmae Gaya Milmyeon, 부산광역시 Jung-gu, Gwangbok-dong, Gwangbok-ro, 56-14. Open daily 10:15am to 9:30pm.
Dwaeji Gukbap
Pork rice soup- a dish that’s said to be hard to find outside of Busan. Pork bones are boiled for long hours before soy, rice wine and other aromatics are added to the broth. The resulting milky broth is served with thinly sliced pork and rice as a watery porridge with a dollop of gochujang (Korean red pepper paste) to which fermented, salted shrimp, garlic, kimchi, garlic chives and ssamjang can be added. Delicious and hearty! We ate at Pohang Dwaeji Gukbap, 25, Seomyeon-ro 68beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan 47286.
Ssiat Hotteok
This Korean seed pancake is totally addictive. A glutinous rice flour dough is stuffed with a sugar and cinnamon mixture before being shallow fried in a pan of butter or oil. Once golden and crispy it’s cut open and filled with pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds. As you bite into the hotteok the cinnamon sugar oozes out. You can find ssiat hotteok all over Busan including at BIFF Square, Gukje Market and street vendors in Seomyeon.
Seafood feast
Jalgachi Fish market is the biggest seafood market in Korea. It’s a bustling, exciting place to visit and spend a couple of hours watching the vendors selling and customers buying every type of seafood imaginable. On the outskirts of the market are a number of restaurants serving fried fish lunch sets.

FISHCAKE, EOMUK OR ODENG 어묵(오뎅)
Fishcake is called eomuk or odeng (a wrong expression derived from Japanese word, oden) in Korea. It is a processed seafood product made of ground white fish and other ingredients such as potato starch, sugar and vegetables. In Korea, fishcake is one of the popular ingredients, used for soup (eomuk-tang), side dish (eomuk-bokkeum) and kimbap (Korean style maki). Especially, eomuk-tang, served on a skewer in broth, is a very popular street food along with ddukbokgi, which people of all ages love. The traditional Korean fishcake is thin and rectangular shaped, but alternative shapes and flavours are also available these days.

This is a project that aims to renew the 'Where I Live', which has become a boring routine and has lost much inspiration.
It would be a VLOG to someone.
It would be a short story or essay to someone.
It would be a REAL Korean Travel Guide to someone.
Whatever,
I hope that the thoughts and perspective of one person living in Seoul will be fully conveyed.

Nampo-dong is a central commercial and shopping area in Busan, South Korea. Nampo-dong is in Jung District (Central District) in the southern center of the city, bordering the city river on the north side. Served by two bridges connecting Yeongdo District to the south, Nampo-dong is also accessible by Nampo Station subway. The area mainly consists of a long north-to-south street with a large walking area with shops, cafes, restaurants, and statues or other seasonal or permanent exhibits.[1] Side streets also have numerous camera shops, and heading south the streets turn into Kangtong Market[2] (Tin-can Market) and Gukje Market, with foreign goods and street food, as well as Jagalchi Market, with fresh seafood for sale or dining as the streets approach the harbor. On the north end of Nampo-dong is the new Lotte Department Store. On the west side a narrow elevator leads up to Yongdusan Park with its tower. Nampo Station also has an extensive series of underground shops.
Nampo-dong tends to attract a cosmopolitan crowd of Japanese tourists, Russians, and westerners. As the area has restricted car access and is in a choke-point between the two halves of the city and Yeongdo Island to the south, parking is a continuing difficulty, though the area is easily walkable and reachable by bus or subway.

Yonggungsa Temple (해동 용궁사) - Things to Do in Busan South Korea
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is a Buddhist temple in Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea.
It's fairly rare find a temple along the shore line as most temples in South Korea are located in the mountains. The temple complex is fairly large, offering multiple viewpoints and sections to explore.
A series of statues align the pathway that leads up to the temple, including each of the 12 zodiac animals. Then, a number of stone lanterns guide you down 108 stairs, the number 108 symbolizing each offense of Buddhism.
Making your way across the bridge into the temple you can make a wish at the wishing well. Most people were aiming for the bowl on top of the tortoise or the one being held.
Many people often come to this spot on New Year’s Day to make a wish for the new year as they watch the sun come up. In March / April many events are held for Buddha’s Birthday and the temple is covered with lanterns.
