12 Hours in Seoul Layover Travel : BEST Airport EVER & Free Transit Tours
I had a 12 hr layover at Incheon International Airport on my way to Saigon. This was my first time in South Korea. I spent 5 hours on a free transit tour the airport provides and had a great time.
They took us to the Gyeongbokgung Palace, the ancient home of the Joseon dynasty royal family and their household. Then we had lunch at Insa-dong market area. It’s very touristy, but merchants were great and the food wasn’t bad.
The other half of my layover was spent at Incheon International Airport. I love that place. I could have spent the entire day there and just relaxed and chilled. They had live musical performances, traditional mask dance (Talchum), which I missed because I was taking a shower at the airport’s free facility. Everything was provided for from the towels to the shampoo and shower gel.
If I wasn’t so hyped up from the coffee I got from the Robot Cafe, I would have taken a much need nap at the airport’s Nap/Relax Zone.
They had high end stores like Prada, Gucci, and Tiffany’s. They have a movie theater, ice skating rink, and an Observatory Deck where you can have a VR experience as well as watch the planes land and take off. I saw travelers play dress up in traditional Korean clothing (hanbok) at the Korean Traditional Culture Center. There’s still so much to experience. I wished I could do it all. But I had only 12 hours during this layover and can only do so much. You can see it all in this video.
I was kind of “eh” about Seoul and Incheon International Airport before this layover, but now I’m a fan. Can’t wait to be back for a much longer visit of this country and immerse myself in the culture and tradition it provides.

DMZ TOUR FROM SEOUL! The Closest I'll Get To North Korea! | South Korea Vlog
I went on the most popular day tour from Seoul - a tour to the DMZ border to see North Korea!
This was such a good tour. I I booked it through Get Your Guide with I Love Seoul Tours (link below), they picked me up close to my hotel and we drove to Imjinjak Park first, everything you can see from here is South Korea but it’s an important place to visit as it’s the most North people can go without getting government permission and it has memorials to the families that were split during the creation of the 2 Countries.
(THE TOUR I TOOK & RECOMMEND:
We then passed through a security check point and had our passports checked before arriving to Dorasan International Station which was finished in 2002. The line goes from Seoul into North Korea and the railway carries on into China, Russia and then Europe. As it stands only one train leaves from here a day into North Korea.
Dora Observatory is the highlight of the trip, this is where you can see North Korea from and the DMZ. There are telescopes which are free and offer clear views into the Countryside of North Korea. You can also see both Countries flag poles and the propaganda village on the side of North Korea!
We ended our day tour of the DMZ at an infiltration tunnel. There are 4 known tunnels and we went to the 3rd tunnel. After a quick video about the war and the DMZ we got to go inside the tunnel (no camera’s or phones are allowed) which was cool and interesting to see.
THE TOUR I TOOK:

Amazing Korean Food and Attractions in Seoul! (Day 2)
Dongdaemun Grilled Fish Street►
Seoul Travel Guide here►
Day 2 on Seoul turned out to be a great one full day tour of Seoul. We started by visiting a few of the most famous Seoul attractions, had an incredible lunch, and then continued on to visit more attractions and ended with an amazing Korean grilled fish dinner.
00:51 Deoksugung Palace; 1,000 Won ($0.84); City Hall Station, Exit 2. For our first stop for the day, we took the Metro to Deoksugung Palace, which is one of the number of famous Royal palaces in Seoul. It was a nice place to walk around, still pretty quiet in the morning when we got there.
1:54 Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gyeongbokgung Station, Exit 5; Entrance price - 3,000 Won ($2.53). One of the most famous attractions in Seoul is the Gyeongbokgung Palace, and it’s an absolutely huge complex where you can walk around and see the different palaces and temples. We didn't’ have a lot of time, but I did spend a few minutes watching the guards at the front, and then walking around the inner sections of the palace. It’s one of the must visit places in Seoul.
3:46 Bukchon Son Mandu Restaurant (북촌손만두); 35,000 Won for 4 bowls of noodles, 1 combination plate of mandu dumplings for 12,000 Won. Located near to Bukchon Hanok village is a legendary restaurant in Seoul known as Bukchon Son Mandu (북촌손만두). I had eaten there before on a previous trip to Seoul, but at a different location at Insadong. This time we ate at their original location, and they specializes in both mandu dumplings, and bowls of noodles. We ordered a mixed plate of mandu which included both fried and steamed mandu and I got a bowl of mul naengmyeon (랭면), which is a Korean ice cold noodles dish. All the food was delicious. Bukchon Son Mandu is a great place to eat when you’re in Seoul.
9:54 Bukchon Hanok Village; Another one of the top attractions in Seoul is the Bukchon Hanok Village, an old village in the heart of Seoul where you can find traditional buildings and homes and businesses. It has become a bit on the touristy side, but there are many locals that visit, and I think it’s a great place to take a walk and enjoy the atmosphere of Seoul. We also stopped to have a couple skewers of what is one of my favorite Korean street foods, dakkochi, which are grilled chicken skewers.
11:07 Korean Street Food near Dongdaemun Market: In the evening, we took the Metro over to Dongdaemun station and found a small side street to eat some Korean street food snacks. We had tteokbokki, gimbap, and some kind of boiled fish tofu on a stick. All the snacks together came to 7,000 Won ($5.91).
13:18 Dongdaemun Grilled Fish Street: For dinner, we didn’t really have any plans, but we just happen to stumble into what I later found out was the Dongdaemun Grilled Fish Street, because there were at least a half dozen grilled fish restaurants. The restaurant served a number of different types of fish, all salted heavily and grilled. Along with rice and all the banchan sides, it was a Korean food meal I loved.
17:34 Dongdaemun Area: Finally, to end this full one day tour of Korean food and attractions in Seoul, we took a walk around the Dongdaemun area, full of shopping malls and action.
I think it turned out to be a pretty good one day in Seoul!

Winter in Seoul, South Korea [Part 1] - City Tour and Myeong-dong Food Trip
Experienced Seoul, South Korea in Winter sans the snow. I was 9 weeks on the way and were so glad that our Obgyn gave us travel clearance. We had a pretty chill itinerary. We stayed at Myeong-Dong area at a hotel walking distance from all the hustle and busy of the tourist spot in Myeong-Dong. We did a lot of food trip since my walking was limited due to my pregnancy.
We did the hop on hop off tour on our 2nd day.

South Korea - 3 days in SEOUL! (1080p HD) | Magda T
SEOUL is a vibrant, modern, technology- and fashion-forward city but also with beautifully blended historical palaces, temples and traditional markets.
Below is our 3 days' itinerary with some travel tips.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Transport from the airport - there are several different ways to travel from Incheon International Airport to downtown Seoul. The most popular ways include taking the Airport Railroad Express (AREX), Seoul Metropolitan Subway, airport limousine buses, and taxis.
SIM Cards - SK & KT mobile providers for Sim Cards (door 6 & 10 at the arrival hall at the airport)
Travel around - T-Money card - a transportation card that can be used on public buses, subways and some taxis. It can be purchased at most of the convenience stores and subway stations (fee – from 2,500 won)
KRW 10,000 = 7.00 GBP = 8.92 USD
ATTRACTIONS:
DAY 1:
???? MYEONGDONG – Seoul’s most prominent shopping area - great place for shopping and dining as it’s full of fashion stores and varied restaurants. Not to mention, this area is the best place to shop for the famous Korean cosmetics. Also, the DutyFree Lotte Department Store is in the neighbourhood (don’t forget to bring your passport and boarding pass). Other places to shop for the cosmetics are: Olive Young, Aritaum, Watsons, Boots. The airport also has a great selection of the Korean cosmetics as well.
????CHANGDEOKUNG PALACE - the Joseon dynasty palace and UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the most significant Korean landmarks and the best preserved of all the palaces. Its Secret Garden (Huwon) is only accessible with a guided tour. The tours in English are at 11:30, 13:30 and 15:30 so plan accordingly. Also the price of the tour (8,000 KRW) is not included into the palace admission fee (3,000 KRW) but if you are planning to do more sightseeing in Seoul, purchase a combination ticket (10,000 KRW), which includes admissions to all the Four Palaces, Secret Garden and Jongmyo Shrine and it’s valid for 3 months.
To get there by Subway: Anguk Station (Seoul Subway Line 3), Exit 3.
Walk straight from the exit (towards east) for about 5-min to arrive at the palace entrance.
DAY 2:
????HAN RIVER WALKING PATHS - Hangang Park - Yeoido, Ttukseom, Bampo Parks
???? NATIONAL MUSEUM OF KOREA - free entry
????NAMDAEMUN MARKET - largest market in Seoul - better to visit in the afternoon as it’s very busy at night.
To get there: Hoehyeon Station (Seoul Subway Line 4), Exit 5.
???? DONGDAEMUN DESIGN PLAZA (DDP) & White Rose Garden
- Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station (Seoul Subway Line 2, 4 ,5) and Exit 1.)
???? GWANGJANG MARKET - great for street food (9am-6pm) – try mung bean pancakes (bindae-tteok)
Jongno 5-ga Station (Seoul Subway Line 1), Exit 8.
Euljiro 4-ga Station (Seoul Subway Line 2 & 5), Exit 4
???? INSADONG - neighbourhood in Jongno District with modern galleries & tea shops (check Ssamji-Gil building & Chatjip teahouse)
Subway - Anguk Station Line 3, Exit 6 (walk straight for 100m and then turn left)
????JOGYESA TEMPLE – Korean Buddhism Temple
???? CHEONGGYECHEON STREAM with Cheonggye Plaza - 10km long stream amidst the busy city life – beautiful display of light and water at night
DAY 3:
????N SEUOL TOWER – communication and observation symbolic tower located on Mount Namsan. It offers panoramic views of Seoul from the top. There are few ways to get there:
- using the Namsan Cable Car (10,000 won for round trip
- hike the Mount Namsan to the Tower - access from Namsan Library via Namsan Park
???? BUKCHON HANOK VILLAGE (free entry) - heritage village with 600 years of history (getting there by Subway - Anguk Station Line 3 – Exit 2)
???? GYENGBOKGUNG PALACE – a historic palace and probably the most beautiful of all the palaces in Seoul. Some of the attractions worth visiting apart from the palace itself:
- National Folk Museum of Korea (price included into the palace ticket - 3,000 KRW)
- Royal Guard Changing Ceremony at the Gwanghwamun Gate - main & largest gate of the Gyeongbokgung Palace (every hour from 10:00 until 16:00 – closed on Tuesdays)

25 Best Things To Do in Seoul, South Korea
Check out my Seoul travel guide and tips at this link: - All my personal Seoul travel tips and suggestions!
Seoul, South Korea, is truly an amazing city to visit! It's modern, easy to navigate and there's little something everyone will enjoy. The Seoul subway system makes it easy to get around town and discover exactly what the giant city has to offer.
Surrounded by Japan and China, Seoul and South Korea sometimes doesn't get all the attention is deserves . Korea is home to a unique culture, cuisine and a fascinating history. If you ever have the chance to visit Seoul, you'll have a great time!
I traveled to Seoul Korea and was able to do all kinds of things, but I've narrowed this list down to twenty five of the best things to do in Seoul - of course there are other things as well but this list is just the beginning and intended to get your ideas and travel imagination flowing!
Anyway, on to the top Seoul attractions, here's the list in case you can't see the video:
1. Gyeongbukgung Palace
2. Bukchon Hanok Village
3. Jogyesa Buddhist Temple
4. Suwon's Hwaseong Fortress
5. War Memorial and Museum
6. N Seoul Tower
7. Myeongdong Shopping
8. Insadong
9. Namdaemun Market
10. Dongdaemun
11. International Itaewon
12. Hongdae (Hongik University)
13. Lotte Mart
14. Lotte World
15. Seoul Children's Park
16. Han River Walking / Riding
17. Walk along the Cheonggyecheon Stream
18. Hike in Seoul
19. Gwangjang Market
20. Noryangjin Fish Market
21. Garak Wholesale Food Market
22. Korean Street Food
23. Ice Cream Selections
24. Coffee at a Coffee Shop
25. Korean Barbecue
I stayed in South Korea for just over 2 weeks and was able to complete this entire list of things to do in Seoul.
However, even though there are so many places to see and go, probably my favorite of all is eating and sampling delicious Korean food! Korean food is so good and there are so many restaurants everywhere you look in Seoul that it can truly be considered a foodie's paradise.
If you get a chance to visit Seoul I hope your'e able to do all these wonderful things while you're there!
Anything else you love about Seoul that's not on this list? Please feel free to leave a comment below and let me know!
