Scotland Highlands - Trailer
More info and for purchase @
Presented by Taggart and Coronation Street star John Michie, Highlands journeys through the geography and history of Scotland, revealing how the Highlands were transformed from thriving communities to beautiful, but barren landscapes.
John charts 200 turbulent years of Scotland's past -- from the 17th Century through the Jacobite uprisings that almost finished the Highlanders to the 1800s, when those who remained were killed or forced from the land they had worked for generations to make way for more profitable sheep farming.
John meets local historians and academic experts who show him around castles, battlefields and abandoned villages. The stories are beautifully illustrated with stunning photography, outstanding aerial shots and John's straightforward narration.

Ross Shimmon treks the Scottish Highlands of Inverness. He stands on the battlefields of Culloden where the British Infantry massacred Bonny Prince Charles and his 'Brave Heart' Klansmen. He explores the ancient cathedrals of Glasgow, before moving on to the magnificent city of Edinburgh. He takes the haunted witchery tour, drinks copious amounts of dark ale, stops by the home of novelist Robert Louis Stevenson, and tours the greatest castle in Great Britain. Ross ends his adventure with a look at the Lochs, and samples Haggis at the annual whiskey festival in Dufftown.
Don't Forget Your Passport is your ticket to an adventurous worldwide tour, hosted by a group of energetic and curious world travelers from around the globe.
Awesome cinematography provides the backdrop for those spur-of-the-moment, intriguing, crazy yet absolutely real situations that only the most intrepid travellers find themselves in. Living with the cave-dwelling Berber tribes of North Tunisia, hiking through the polar cap villages of Greenland, or being caught in the middle of a street brawl in Guatemala: Don't Forget Your Passportis fearless and fun!
Yet it's always good to know that at the end of the day, serenity is just a stone's throw away - in a rainbow-patched waterfall, deep in the steamy jungles of Sumatra, Indonesia. Ahhhh, heaven.
Don't Forget Your Passport is a continuing journey into the fascinating cultures and stunning landscapes that make up our ever-changing planet.
Meet the Clipper 2019-20 Race Skippers
Following a grueling selection process we are pleased to reveal the eleven professional skippers who, with over a million miles of experience between them, will be leading teams in the Clipper 2019-20 Race.
The newly appointed Clipper Race Skippers, who have a combined total of 1,312,300nm in their log books, hail from the UK, South Africa and Spain and bring a vast range of experience to the roles; Nick Leggatt, 52, (Cape Town) already has three circumnavigations under his belt; Chris Brooks, 33, (Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex) is a high-performance racer with a 95 per cent podium success rate; Josh Stickland, 31, (Southampton, Hampshire) started his sailing career as a teenager through a Prince’s Trust bursary; Ben Keitch, 42, (Eastbourne, Sussex) spent 18 months with the British Antarctic Survey, and Seumas Kellock, 26, (Edinburgh, Scotland) is a former Clipper Race Crew member whose skills were so impressive he has returned to the global sailing event as a Race Skipper.
Race Skippers need to display an extraordinary amount of focus and determination over the almost year-long challenge. Storms, cyclones, icebergs, extreme heat and cold, and even the potential threat of piracy, will soon all be in a day’s work for the Race Skippers. Not only do they have to face tough conditions but they will also be responsible for managing emotions, motivating a multinational crew who can range from aged 18 to 75 (no upper age limit), and resolving conflict, whilst also aiming to be competitive.
More than 700 crew members have already signed up for the 2019-20 race and are currently training for the challenge. Representing over 40 nationalities, with day jobs including an A&E nurse, a hairdresser, and a gas fitter, among others who will be leaving their day jobs behind to take on a rather different challenge.
The Race Skippers have an extensive training schedule ahead. On May 11, the Skippers will discover who their crew will be, at a special event to be held in Portsmouth, UK.
The Clipper 2019-20 Race Route
Starting from the UK later this summer, the Clipper 2019-20 Race route will see the teams race from the UK, across the Atlantic to South America; the South Atlantic to South Africa; across the Southern Ocean’s Roaring Forties to Western Australia; around to East Australia, back into the Northern Hemisphere to China where teams will race to Qingdao, via Sanya and Zhuhai; across the mighty North Pacific to West Coast USA; to West Coast USA via the famous Panama Canal; and then it’s a final Atlantic crossing; before arriving back to the UK as fully proven ocean racers.
