In this episode we leave Ronda and head to the mountain village of Setenil de las Bodegas. A very unusual and picturesque village with troglodyte style houses. Not a place to walk down to if you have bad knees although we parked at the top of the hill and i;m sure you can park further down.

We really enjoyed walking the narrow streets and taking in the atmosphere. There is a reason this village appears on the list of top places to visit.

Setenil de las Bodegas, Spain - VLOG045 [4K]

Setenil de las Bodegas is a town (pueblo) in the province of Cádiz, Spain, famous for its dwellings built into rock overhangs above the Rio Trejo.

This small town is located 157 kilometres (98 miles) northeast of Cádiz. It has a distinctive setting along a narrow river gorge. The town extends along the course of the Rio Trejo with some houses being built into the rock walls of the gorge itself, created by enlarging natural caves or overhangs and adding an external wall.

Setenil has a reputation for its meat products, particularly chorizo sausage and cerdo (pork) from pigs bred in the surrounding hills. As well as meat, it has a reputation for producing fine pasteles (pastries), and its bars and restaurants are among the best in the region. Its outlying farms also provide Ronda and other local towns with much of their fruit and vegetables.

Ubicado en la provincia de Cádiz. Sus calles únicas le aportan un toque mágico al lugar. Llama la atención las casas bajo las rocas y otras sobre las mismas.
Fuimos de celebración de mi cumpleaños y me lleve el regalo de los municipales del pueblo, ¡¡la multa por el aparcamiento!! ????????????
Aunque ya no quería mas regalos.

Os Pueblos Blancos, são uma rota turística, composta por pequenas cidades e aldeias, situadas nas montanhas das províncias Espanholas de Cádis e Málaga, abrangendo os parques naturais de Grazalema e Alcornales.
Esta rota chamada de Pueblos Blancos, deve-se às suas cidades e aldeias serem predominantemente pintadas de branco, e as fachadas das casas ostentarem vasos de flores coloridas, tornando esta rota numa viagem muito pitoresca e cultural.
Setenil de las Bodegas é uma pequena e extraordinária aldeia da rota dos Pueblos Blancos, localizada no Nordeste Serrano da província de Cadiz, e perto do Parque Nacional da Serra de Grazalema. É um dos principais destinos turísticos desta região montanhosa, devido em grande parte pela sua estranha e extrema beleza, em especial do centro da cidade, que se encontra situado num desfiladeiro aberto ao longo do tempo pelo rio Guadalporcún. Possui uma enorme originalidade no seu tecido arquitetónico, com muitas das suas casas construídas sob as rochas e com outras sobre elas, dando ao povoado uma disposição em diferentes níveis de altura muito interessante.

Semi-troglodíticas desenvolvidas na Andaluzia, não mexem nas rochas, mas apenas as usam para encostar as suas construções, que lhes servem de parede de fundo.

The Pueblos Blancos, are a tourist route, composed of small towns and villages, located in the mountains of the Spanish provinces of Cadiz and Malaga, covering the natural parks of Grazalema and Alcornales.
This route called Pueblos Blancos, due to their towns and villages are predominantly painted white, and the facades of the houses bear colorful flowers vases, making this route in a very picturesque and cultural travel.
Setenil de las Bodegas is a small village on the route of the Pueblos extraordinary Blancos, located in the northeast of the province of Cadiz, Serrano and close to the National Park of Sierra de Grazalema. El término municipal de Setenil de Las Bodegas está situado al nordeste de la provincia, en la continuación de la Depresión de Ronda, y presenta un paisaje de suaves ondulaciones de cultivos de cereal y olivos, atravesado por el río Guadalporcún. El pueblo se ubica en una pendiente que baja desde el Castillo al lado del curso del río, su principal atractivo lo constituye el entramado urbano por su belleza y originalidad, sobre todo la parte baja, en la que las casas aprovechan, a modo de viviendas semitrogloditas, el abrigo de las rocas del tajo creado por el río. Debido a esa curiosa particularidad arquitectónica, en Setenil hay dos calles con muchísima personalidad, la Calle Cueva del Sol, cálida e iluminada, y la Calle Cueva de la Sombra, que hace honor a su nombre estando a la sombra casi todo el día. Su localización actual es de origen medieval y en el espacio que hoy se denomina la Villa se asentaba el antiguo poblado almohade. En ambas calles se abren establecimientos en cuevas dentro de la roca donde poder probar los mejores productos del pueblo.

Setenil en la TV de Chile Un pueblo único

Un sitio como Setenil no lo encuentras en el planeta. Así de eufórico se mostraba el simpático arquitecto y presentador chileno Federico Sánchez durante la grabación en España del programa de viajes 'City Tour' (Canal 13 TV), muy popular por su tono distendido y espontáneo. Sánchez lleva varios años viajando por el mundo y en su recorrido por España ha elegido tres destinos: Bilbao, Sevilla... y Setenil. Alucinante, increíble... El académico chileno se quedó literalmente boquiabierto cuando vió el tajo de las Cuevas del Sol y alucinado cuando entró en las Cuevas de la Sombra. Hay que decirle a la gente: si usted quiere ir a Andalucía a ver un pueblo blanco, no sólo blanco, onírico... vaya a Ronda y Setenil. Y después añadan los que quieran. Más información aquí

Setenil de las Bodegas in southern Spain is an amazing place, where many houses were built into massive rocks in the side of a hill overhanging the gorge of the river Trejo. I was lucky to have found out about this place before I visited Spain and had the chance to film its amazing streets.
