Seurasaari Island and Open Air Museum Tour in Helsinki (HD)
The Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum was the best place we saw in Helsinki. The natural setting was beautiful amongst all the trees surround by the tranquil waters of the Seurasaari bay with plentiful of birds. The cabins, watermills, and boat houses gave a nice insight into how the Finnish people of the past lived here.

HOW TO GET THERE?
It is pretty close to Helsinki Center Railway Station. Go to the west other side of the Sokos Department Store. Buss number 24 starts right front of the Sokos. Right bus stop to go off is the last one/the end station.

Seurasaari (Fölisön) is an island and a district in Helsinki, Finland, known mostly as the location of the Seurasaari Open-Air Museum, which consists of old wooden buildings brought from elsewhere in Finland, and placed in the dense forest of the island.

Seurasaari Island, situated only a quarter of an hour’s drive from the centre of Helsinki, is open every day and it is free entry to the island.
The island provides nice setting for outdoor recreation, sun worshippers and walkers.
The tame ducks, swans and geese swarming around the bridge welcome everybody.
Having crossed the white wooden bridge a visitor can’t help running into the happy little squirrels of the island.

These videos are shot as I have seen them. There is minimum amount of processing with the material, to keep the video as authentic as possible. There is no music just the actual voices. Highly produced nice looking films can be found somewhere else. This is supposed to look true and raw. Videos have been shot with iphone 4S.

Seurasaari is an island and a district in Helsinki, Finland, known mostly as the location of the Seurasaari Open-Air Museum, which consists of old, mainly wooden buildings transplanted from elsewhere in Finland and placed in the dense forest landscape of the island.
Every summer, many Helsinkians come to Seurasaari to enjoy the rural, peaceful outdoor atmosphere. Despite the visitors, the island has a variety of wildlife, especially birds, but also red squirrels and hares. The height of the island's popularity is at Midsummer, when a huge bonfire (Finnish: juhannuskokko, Swedish: midsommareld) is built on a small isle just off the island's coast, and ignited by a newlywed couple. Thousands of people, both tourists and Helsinkians, watch the burning of the bonfire from both Seurasaari itself and from boats anchored near it.
Seurasaari also includes one of only two nudist beaches in Helsinki and one of only three in the entire country. Unlike the other nudist beaches, the beach is segregated for men and women separately with no unisex nudist area and is subject to a fee.

Seurasaari on museosaari Helsingin kantakaupungin länsilaidalla. Saaressa on toiminut vuodesta 1909 ulkomuseo, joka oli aikanaan Suomen ensimmäinen ja jonne on siirretty vanhoja puurakennuksia eri puolilta Suomea.
Seurasaari muodostettiin kansanpuistoksi vuonna 1889, ja siitä tuli suosittu retkikohde ja juhlapaikka. Alussa saareen oli vain laivayhteys. Silta rakennettiin syysmyrskyn kaatamista puista vuosina 1891–1892. Kansanpuiston toimintaan liittyneet rakennukset suunnitteli arkkitehti Frithiof Mieritz skandinaavisen tyylin mukaisiksi. Edelleen saaressa ulkoillaan, otetaan aurinkoa ja pidetään piknikkejä.
