New York Times Trade Day - THE ULTIMATE TRAVEL SHOW
The largest and longest-running trade and consumer travel show in North America kicked off with Trade Day last Friday. The 2019 New York Times Travel Show celebrated its 16th anniversary at the Jacob K. Javits Center in Manhattan from January 25th to 27th . Tens of thousands more travelers attended the showcase compare with last year. The good news for return attendees is that 35 percent of this year's exhibitors were new to the show.
Exhibitions showcasing Asian tourist and cultural attractions became the highlight. Demonstrations of Tai Ji-practicing, calligraphy-writing, Kung Fu martial art and drumming also ran through the three-day event, which have allured visitors to join and experience the essence of traditional Asian culture.
Meanwhile, thousands of brochures containing recommended traveling routes and sites in Asia were handed out to potential tourists, emphasizing everything from trendy neighborhoods to essential landmarks and unexpected locales. The Taiwan exhibition organizer also teamed up with prominent local travel agencies and several airlines to design specific tourism products catering to American tastes.
Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, the China exhibition surrounded by lunar new year decoration has caught the eyes of thousands of visitors with distinctive Chinese cultural elements familiar to local Americans, such as leaflets of pandas, huge poster of pandas and….a Panda mascot
China National Tourist Office at New York aimed to demonstrate China's charm through both its breathtaking landscape and culture, making tourism an important booster of bilateral exchanges between China and the United States amid the looming trade war.
The Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau showcased the current Old meets New campaign, which highlights how visitors can take a deep dive into the city's fascinating duality – uncovering enchanting and deep-seated customs while also taking pleasure in a state-of-the-art way of life.
Korean representatives were on hand to further discuss the many highlights of traveling: visiting legendary temples, dining at Michelin-starred restaurants, staying at the finest hotels, taking advantage of world class transport resources, and indulging in a K-Pop experience that can't be replicated anywhere else.
The LGBTQ Travel Pavilion was at the top of many must lists. This year’s pavilion doubled the size of last year’s debut and featured 15 exhibitors specifically presenting LGBTQ-friendly brands from destinations and tour groups to travel insurance and magazines. The booths showcased some of the latest trends in LGBTQ-centric tourism. Exhibitors in the pavilion included ManAboutWorld, Out in the Vineyard, Oscar Wilde Tours, Shady Ladies Tours, R Family Vacations, Quiiky-Gay Tours in Italy, Outings & Adventures, Insider Voyagers and the Stonewall National Monument.
Reserved exclusively for travel industry professionals and members of the media on the first day, highlights include expert seminars informing attendees about the latest industry services and consumer trends. Among the trending topics of conversation were working with social media influencers and exploring digital trends. Although the official numbers are still being tabulated for 2019, the show’s attendance could likely beat numbers set in a record-breaking 2018.
A show survey from 2017 revealed that consumers in attendance said they planned to spend more than $100 million in travel within a year of attending the program. However, travel shows aren’t just for suppliers and consumers anymore. Travel advisors are forging connections and reaping the rewards the exposure has given them. Whether partnering with fellow agents or preferred suppliers to offset the cost, travel advisors have identified where they can add their own value by participating the show.

American prisons are hell. For women, they're even worse
The U.S. incarcerates more people than any other country--over two million. Roughly 200,000 of them are female. But existing American prisons are often ill-equipped to handle the specific needs of women and girls. Amna Nawaz talks to Andrea James, a lawyer and former federal inmate who founded the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls, about her experience.

The Rolling Stones - Rare 1975 Footage Madison Square Garden New York City (New 2020 Edit)
The Rolling Stones - Rare 1975 Footage Madison Square Garden New York City (New 2020 Edit) Tracklist 01. T.V Report; 02. Brown Sugar (New 2020 Edit); 03. All Down The Line (New 2020 Edit) The Rolling Stones' Tour of the Americas '75 was a 1975 concert tour originally intended to reach both North and South America. The plans for concerts in Central and South America never solidified, however, and the tour covered only the United States and Canada. Start date was 1 June 1975 and the End date was 8 August 1975.History: After the departure of Mick Taylor, this was the Rolling Stones' first tour with new guitarist Ronnie Wood. Announced on 14 April as merely playing with the band on the tour, it would not be until 19 December that he would be officially named a Rolling Stone. Long-time sidemen Bobby Keys and Jim Price on brass were not featured on this tour, being replaced by Billy Preston on keyboards and Ollie E. Brown on percussion. Keys made a guest appearance on You Can't Always Get What You Want and Brown Sugar at the Los Angeles shows. The Tour of the Americas '75 was not tied to support of any newly released material, as it began more than seven months after the release of their last 1974 studio album at the time, It's Only Rock 'n Roll. Instead, the 1975 compilation album Made in the Shade was released to capitalize on the tour's publicity. The announcement of the tour became famous in itself. On 1 May, reporters were gathered inside the Fifth Avenue Hotel on 9th Street in New York City's Greenwich Village to attend a press conference where the Stones were scheduled to appear. But the Stones never went into the hotel. The handful of curiosity seekers standing outside the hotel – who'd heard a rumor of the press conference and who were hoping to catch a glimpse of the Stones entering the hotel – were instead treated to the sight of a flatbed truck rolling down Fifth Avenue carrying the Stones, their instruments and a wall of amps. The truck stopped in front of the hotel entrance and the band played an extended version of Brown Sugar. Charlie Watts had suggested this adaptation of a promotional gimmick often used by New Orleans jazz musicians; the idea was later emulated by groups like AC/DC and U2. After the Stones finished the song, the flatbed truck rolled down Fifth Avenue another block and the band jumped into limousines. They never attended the press conference. The mid-1970s were the era of extravagant stage shows, from the likes of Elton John, Alice Cooper, Kiss and Queen. In keeping with this, the Stones embraced a new format for the 1975 concerts. Their act was aided by theatrical stage props and gimmicks, including a giant inflatable phallus (nicknamed 'Tired Grandfather' by the band, since it sometimes malfunctioned) and, at some shows, an unfolding lotus flower-shaped stage that Charlie Watts had conceived. The tour officially began on 3 June 1975 at the Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas; however first the group played two warmup shows on 1 June at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The tour continued, playing mostly arenas in the United States and Canada, including six consecutive nights at Madison Square Garden in New York and five nights at The Forum in Los Angeles. However, a planned Latin American leg in Mexico, Brazil, and Venezuela for the balance of August was cancelled due to a combination of currency fluctuations and security concerns. Four additional US dates were then added, culminating in a final performance on 8 August at Rich Stadium near Buffalo, New York. The 1977 live album Love You Live has Fingerprint File and It's Only Rock 'n Roll from Toronto, 17 June 1975 and Sympathy for the Devil from Los Angeles, 9 July 1975. In 2012, the entire show from Los Angeles, 13 July 1975 was released as part of the 'Rolling Stones Archive'; mixed and remastered by Bob Clearmountain. This show was previously available in excellent audience quality on the 'LA Friday' bootleg. The title is a reference to a Rolling Stone review of the Friday, 11 July 1975 show, even though the actual featured show was from Sunday, 13 July.

Inside Nevada’s Moonlite Bunny Ranch
The women of Nevada's Moonlite Bunny Ranch brothel are both sex workers and master negotiators.
Come for the sex, stay for the negotiating skills: At Nevada's Moonlite Bunny Ranch, success depends less on beauty and more on a woman's skill at asking for what she deserves.
Unlike most industries, many legal sex workers in legal prostitution are paid more than their illegal counterparts. The price difference is in part due to the negotiation, which creates an opportunity for price discrimination (charging more to customers willing to pay). The brothels are legal, but listing prices are not. Negotiation skills are mandatory for these women.
The brothel has something of an employee manual that contains tips and instructions on how to negotiate. The Bunny Bible was written by Dennis Hof and his COO, Suzette Cole.

AulicExclusiva Wins ~ Mystery Soprano is Margaret Truman (c.1950)
Soprano Margaret Truman (1924-2008), daughter of US President Harry S. Truman / Beneath A Weeping Willow's Shade / Francis Hopkinson - composer (1737-1791) / arranged by Oliver Daniel / Recorded: c. 1950 --
Mary Margaret Truman Daniel, widely known throughout her life as Margaret Truman, was an American singer who later became a successful writer. She was the only child of Harry S. Truman, 33rd President of the United States, and Bess Truman.
Born in Independence, Missouri, she was christened Mary Margaret Truman (for her aunt Mary Jane Truman and her maternal grandmother Margaret Gates Wallace) but was called Margaret from early childhood. In 1944 Truman christened the battleship USS Missouri, which was named after her home state (when the ship was recommissioned in 1986 she was a featured speaker at the ceremony).
Truman pursued a singing career in the late 1940s. After graduating from George Washington University and receiving some operatic vocal training, she debuted with the radio broadcast of a vocal recital in March 1947. After a performance in December 1950, Washington Post music critic Paul Hume wrote she was extremely attractive on the stage... [but] cannot sing very well. She is flat a good deal of the time. Her father, then President, wrote to Hume, I have never met you, but if I do you'll need a new nose and plenty of beefsteak and perhaps a supporter below. Years later she recalled, I thought it was funny. Sold tickets. Truman's singing career was widely publicized during her father's presidency and the February 26, 1951 cover of Time Magazine carried her image with a single musical note floating by her head. She performed on stage, radio and television until the mid 1950s.
Truman's place in pop culture was confirmed by her appearances as a Guest Panelist on the popular game show What's My Line?, replacing Dorothy Kilgallen several times and also appearing as a Mystery Guest. In 1957, she guest starred on an episode of NBC's variety show, The Gisele MacKenzie Show, joining Gisele MacKenzie in a duet of I Only Have Eyes For You playing the piano together in a version of Sisters.
Truman married New York Times reporter (and later editor) Clifton Daniel (1912 - 2000) on April 21, 1956 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Independence, Missouri. They had four sons: Clifton Truman Daniel (born 1957) - has written and spoken publicly about his grandfather and his experiences as the grandchild of a president; William Wallace Daniel (1959 - 2000) - who died in a New York City taxi cab collision; Harrison Gates Daniel (born 1963); Thomas Washington Daniel (born 1966).
She wrote several non-fiction and fiction books. Harry S. Truman (1972) was a critically acclaimed, full length biography of her father drawn from extensive resources at the Truman Library, published shortly before his death. Bess W. Truman (1986) was a detailed personal biography of her mother. She also wrote books on White House first ladies and pets, the history of the White House and its inhabitants, along with a critically successful series of fictional murder mysteries set in various locations in and around Washington, DC. There have been claims these murder mysteries were ghost-written, perhaps by Donald Bain, but he denies this. She continued to write and publish regularly into her eighties.
In later life Mrs. Daniel resided in her Park Avenue home in Manhattan and served on the Board of Directors for the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum along with the Board of Governors for the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute. Margaret Truman-Daniel died in Chicago on January 29, 2008, following a brief illness during which she was on a respirator and living in an assisted care facility. On February 23, following a private memorial service, her ashes and those of her husband E. Clifton Daniel were interred in her parents' burial plot at the Truman Library and Museum in Independence, Missouri. (wikipedia)

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and French First Lady Brigitte Macron Match in Red #royalnews

=====================================
Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and French First Lady Brigitte Macron were perfectly co-ordinated in the style stakes as they met in Copenhagen this morning. The Danish royals welcomed President Macron and his wife as the French premier arrived for a two-day visit to the Danish capital.
Matched in vibrant shades of red, Princess Mary of Denmark, and Mrs Macron appeared to brush over the very similar wardrobe choices they'd made as they prepared to lay wreaths to fallen soldiers at the Citadel in Copenhagen.
Brigitte opted for a warm woollen peacoat over a matching above-the-knee dress and handbag in the same shade. She finished the striking look with a simple pair of black heels. Meanwhile, the glamorous Danish Crown Princess wore a dress by Brazilian designer Raquel Diniz. The high-necked red Armonia silk georgette dress floated beyond the knee, with billowing sleeves. Princess Mary carried a clutch purse in a deeper shade of red and wore snakeskin heels, with a botanical brooch complementing her dress.

In one Indiana prison, a program allows incarcerated moms to raise their newborns
The U.S. incarcerates women at a higher rate than any other country and a majority of these women are mothers. Most women who are incarcerated are separated from their children, but a unique prison program at the Indiana Women’s Prison in Indianapolis, funded by private donations and grants, allows some low-level offenders to keep their newborns in a prison nursery. Megan Thompson reports.
Trump Campaign Manager Manafort explains Melania Speech Inerview

CNN Anchor Battles Paul Manafort During Heated Exchange Over Trump Campaign’s ‘Pattern’ of Lying
CNN anchor Chris Cuomo accused Donald Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort of lying and making excuses about Melania Trump’s convention speech during a heated interview Wednesday.
Manafort has consistently denied allegations that Mrs. Trump plagiarized a portion of her Monday evening speech, which was notably similar to part of the speech Michelle Obama delivered at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
During the interview, Cuomo listed what he sees as two major issues with the Trump campaign.
“The first is, a big part of the case I’m hearing here at the convention for why Donald Trump needs to be president is that Hillary Clinton can’t be trusted, that she doesn’t level with the American people, which is another way of saying, ‘She lies,’” the CNN veteran explained.
He then noted the second issue he perceives with the campaign, which is that “when faced with something that you did wrong, you just deny it, no matter whether it’s true or not.”
Cuomo offered examples of controversies surrounding Trump’s campaign, such as the time the GOP nominee mocked a disabled New York Times employee, the anti-Clinton ad Trump retweeted that contained what many believed was a Star of David and the speculation surrounding the Washington Post report about a mysterious Trump publicist named “John Miller.”
“There’s a pattern of denying the obvious,” Cuomo continued. “What happens when you’re running the government of the United States and you don’t want to deal with what happens then? That’s the concern. That’s why I don’t understand why you won’t just own this little thing and move on.”
Manafort told Cuomo that it’s time to “move on” from the Melania speech controversy and focus on the nominee’s campaign.
“But I can’t move on, because you keep lying about it, so I can’t move on from it,” Cuomo shot back. “Because I have to talk about what is true.”
Manafort replied, “Chris, I’m not lying about anything.”
Cuomo continued to press the campaign manager, asking him to give a “yes or no” answer to whether or not Melania Trump plagiarized the first lady’s speech.
But Manafort didn’t waiver from his initial argument: “As far as we’re concerned, there are similar words that were used, we’ve said that, but the feelings of those words and the commonality of those words do not create a situation which we feel we have to agree with you.”
