shichahai Beijing. It's snowing in Beijing, but Shichahai in the center of the city is very cold and the sky is gloomy, but there is no trace of snow. I went to Shichahai for the third time. This is the oldest place in Beijing. I finally had the opportunity to paint a sketch painting there, and Beijing's heaven seemed to know my needs, suddenly projecting sunlight, giving me wonderful light, illuminating my scenery, and also giving me warmth. There are tourists who chat with me.

Beijing Gubei Water Town [Walk and Drone]
If your going to Beijing to see The Great Wall i recommend to go to this town if you have some day to spare and stay the night there to see the night lights.
There are many hotsprings inside the hotels, there is only one for the public which you can enter for free with the voucher that they give when you check-in at the main entrance.
There are many ways to get to Gubei Water Town from Beijing, but i choose the easy way and i dont think is that expensive either reserving a taxi, cost around $80usd
If your staying at some hotel in Beijing just ask the reception to help you book a taxi to Gubei, if not i will leave the number the one i use, he picked me from the hotel in Beijing to Gubei Water Town and i told him to pick me up after two days to go to PEK International Airport. Around same price he uses the taxi meter.

Situated in Gubeikou Town of Miyun County in Beijing, Gubei Water Town surrounds the beautiful Mandarin Duck Lake Reservoir and leans against the Simatai Great Wall, the most dangerous and majestic section of the entire Great Wall. Regarded as 'Wuzhen in Beijing', Gubei Water Town boasts a combination of mountains, water and ancient villages. The town is characterized by the northern architectural style, and the history and culture of the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and the Republic of China (1912-1949) historic period. Most buildings are reconstructed in the traditional courtyard style. Based on five ancient villages and a water resource, this water town has developed into a large-scale sightseeing and holiday destination. Covering an area of 3.5 square miles (9 square kilometers), the holiday resort includes two scenic districts, the Gubei Water Town and the Simatai Great Wall.

Ice skating on iconic lakes in Beijing ignites passion for winter sports
It’s that time of the year again when skating in Beijing becomes super fun. In Shichahai Park, central Beijing, skating hobbyists are seen skating on ice-bikes, ice-chairs, and seal-shaped ice-cars to enjoy different ways of riding and sliding on the ice playground.
Laughter, music, sounds of blades hitting the ice, there is no better recreation for one to enjoy the fruit of winter in Beijing.
“In Canada, we have all of skating. It’s like a national sport. But something like this, skating on a bicycle, you can’t really find it there,” said Andre Caragheorghii, who is visiting Beijing from Canada.
He was riding on an ice-chair with his son sitting on the front. The father and son were collaborating by sticking their iron sticks onto the ice surface to move forward, to feel the joy of being frictionless and unstoppable. “I think it’s a very good experience. You can spend a very good time with your family,” Caragheorghii said.
Each year, six major open-air skating rinks open for business when the frozen lake is thick enough to skate on. The ice has to be over 15 cm thick to be safe. Staffs patrol the lakes three times a day to make sure that’s the case.
This year, Shichahai skating rink is themed on the 2022 Winter Olympic Games to be held in Beijing and towns in neighboring Hebei province. The grand sports event is still four years away, but winter sports have become hotter than ever in China.
A number of other parks in Beijing such as Chaoyang Park in the eastern part of the city have also organized winter sport activities.
According to the “2018 Big-data Consumption Report of China’s Ice and Snow Tourism” published by China Tourism Academy and Tuniu.com, the market size of China’s ice and snow tourism reached 170 million people last year. A total of 27.6% of the tourists chose skiing resorts, while 72.4% enjoyed ice and snow scenic spots.
Over the past two years, over 100 thousand middle school and primary school students in Beijing also got to experience ice and snow sports on campus thanks to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, which have been organizing popularization activities of winter sports to get teenagers and children interested.

Beijing (pronounced /beɪˈdʒɪŋ/ or /beɪˈʒɪŋ/ in English; Chinese: 北京; pinyin: Běijīng, IPA: [pèɪtɕíŋ] ( listen); Wade-Giles: Pei3ching1 or Pei3-ching1) (also known as Peking (/piːˈkɪŋ/ ( listen) or /peɪˈkɪŋ/)) is a metropolis in northern China and the capital of the People's Republic of China. Governed as a municipality under direct administration of the central government, Beijing borders Hebei Province to the north, west, south, and for a small section in the east, and Tianjin Municipality to the southeast.[6] Beijing is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China.[7]
Beijing is China's second largest city after Shanghai,[8] with more than 17 million people in Beijing's area of jurisdiction. The city is divided into 16 urban and suburban districts and two rural counties;[9] the city's urban area has about 13 million residents.[9] Beijing is a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways, roads and motorways passing through the city. It is also the destination of many international flights arriving in China. Beijing is recognized as the political, educational, and cultural center of the People's Republic of China,[8] while Shanghai and Hong Kong predominate in economic fields.[10][11][12] The city hosted the 2008 Olympic Games.
Few cities in the world besides Beijing have served as the political and cultural centre of an area as immense as China for so long.[13] The Encyclopædia Britannica describes it as one of the world's great cities,[14] and declares that the city has been an integral part of Chinas history for centuries; there is scarcely a major building of any age in Beijing that doesn't have at least some national historical significance.[13] Beijing is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples, and huge stone walls and gates.[15] Its art treasures and universities have long made the city a centre of culture and art in China.[15]
At the heart of Beijing's historical centre lies the Forbidden City, the enormous palace compound that was the home of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties;[94] the Forbidden City also hosts the Palace Museum, which contains imperial collections of Chinese art. Surrounding the Forbidden City are several former imperial gardens, parks and scenic areas, notably the Beihai, Shichahai, Zhongnanhai, Jingshan and Zhongshan. These places, like the Beihai Park are described to be masterpieces of Chinese gardening art,[95] and are popular tourist destinations with tremendous historical importance; Zhongnanhai during the modern era has also been the political heart of various Chinese governments and regimes and is now the headquarters of the Communist Party of China. From the Tiananmen Square, which is located right across the Forbidden City, there are several notable sites, such as the Tiananmen, Qianmen, the Great Hall of the People, National Museum of China, Monument to the People's Heroes, and Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. The Summer Palace and the Old Summer Palace both lie at the western part of the urban city of Beijing; the Summer Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site,[96] displays a comprehensive collection of imperial gardens and palaces that functioned as the summer retreat for the Qing Dynasty emperors.
Among the best known religious sites in the city is the Temple of Heaven (Tiantan), located in southeastern Beijing, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site,[97] where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties made visits for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest; located in the opposite direction of the Temple of Heaven at the northern part of the city are the Temple of Earth (Ditan), and the Temple of the Sun (Ritan) and Temple of the Moon (Yuetan), both respectively located in the eastern and western parts of the urban area. Other well-known temple sites located in Beijing include the Dongyue Temple, Tanzhe Temple, Miaoying Temple, White Cloud Temple, Yonghe Temple, Fayuan Temple, Wanshou Temple and the Big Bell Temple. The city also has its own Confucius Temple, and a Guozijian. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception was built in 1605, and is the oldest Catholic church in Beijing. The Niujie Mosque is also the oldest mosque in Beijing, with a history over a thousand years old.

BEIJING CHINA Travel Guide (2019) | Happy Trip
This Beijing travel guide highlights 5 things to do in Beijing. We recommend the following activities for short visits to Beijing, China. More travel videos coming soon!
Beijing is the capital of China. It has a population of more than 20 million. The city is popular among tourists due to its close proximity to the Great Wall of China.
Tiananmen Square (0:22-1:00)
A massive square next to the Forbidden City where you will find the Monument to the People's Heroes, the National Museum of China, the Great Hall of the People and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. The city square was the site of numerous significant events in Chinese history. Thousands of people visit this place everyday.
Forbidden City (1:00-1:49)
The Forbidden City hosts 14 million visitors a year. A maximum of only 80,000 visitors are allowed each day. It is one of China's popular tourist attractions. This palace complex served as the home of 24 emperors during the Ming dynasty and Qing dynasty.
Dashilar Street (1:49-3:12)
Dashilar Street is located near Qianmen station and just walking distance from Tiananmen Square. It is a popular shopping street where you can buy all sorts of items ranging from shoes and clothing to souvenirs and street food (rice stuffed dumplings, crab soup packets, potato tornado, candied hawthorns, kebab). Restaurants that serve the popular Peking duck can also be found here.
Peking Duck (3:12-4:03)
The Peking duck is Beijing's most famous dish. It is traditionally carved by the chef in front of the diners. This dish has been enjoyed since the imperial era. The meat is often eaten with spring onion, cucumber and sweet plum sauce or hoisiin sauce with pancakes rolled around the fillings. Qǐng màn yòng!
Great Wall of China (4:03-6:24)
The Great Wall of China is often hailed as one of the great man-made wonders of the world. It served as a military defense to protect China's territories from invaders. It was built during the course of many centuries, from as early as the 7th century BC, by thousands of laborers. Watchtowers were built to transmit signals and monitor enemy movement. The Great Wall consists of different sections such as Badaling, Mutianyu and Jinshanling. We recommend Mutianyu as it is the most restored section. It is also generally less crowded compared to Badaling. This section of the Great Wall stretches along the mountain ridge and depicts a flying dragon! It also features beautiful scenery all year round. Flowers and greenery in spring and summer, red leaves in autumn and snow in winter. The Mutianyu section has numerous facilities that you can enjoy such as the cable car and chair lift. On your way down from the Great Wall, the Toboggan slide is a must-try!

Gubei Water Town 中国古北水乡
In the shadow of the Simatai Great Wall of China lies Gubei Water Town which boasts a combination of mountains, water, forests and ancient villages. This new multi-billion dollar development and re-construction of an ancient Chinese town is a highlight of the area.
Water Town surrounds the beautiful Mandarin Duck Lake Reservoir which lies protected by the Simatai Wall, regarded as the most dangerous and majestic section of the entire Great Wall of China.
A great way to experience the area is by a boat ride around the town.
Water Town was built inspired by 5 former Simatai Villages, villages which were developed from the Simatai Castle built during the reign of Emperor Wanli through to the Ming Dynasty.
This is not an historical water town, but an artistic interpretation of the Wuzhen Water Town in Southern China.
In Gubei the winding stone streets and long Hutongs illustrate the style and features of an old industrious water town. Narrow canals run between the streets and near the river the buildings are bathed in sunlight. When night falls, Gubei Water Town grows quiet, presenting a tranquil relaxing atmosphere.
At night the town is transformed into a magical place as colored lights reflect off the canals, the buildings and the mountain landscape. In the near distance The Great Wall of Simatai is outlined in a ribbon of light, the ancient pathway appears to dance across the night sky like a back of a dragon.
