Japan's crazy 'rollercoaster bridge' Eshima Ohashi 埃希马大桥, 江島大橋
Terrifying: Eshima Ohashi Bridge in Japan looks more like a rollercoaster than a bridge
This terrifying 'rollercoaster bridge' forces drivers to navigate down a steep decent so ships can pass underneath.
Facts about the Eshima Ohashi:
★ 1,446 meters long
★ 250 meters of continupus concrete in the center (the third longest Ramen bridge in the world!)
★ 6.1% grade slope on the Shimane Prefecture side
★ 5.1% grade on the Tottori side
★ The bridge needed to be high in the center to allow large shops to pass under.
☆ From the Shimane side, you can get the optical illusion view at the end of the street by the sea.
☆ If you have a good telephoto lens, go even further to the other side of the sea for a better shot. (Map below)

The World's Most WOW Bridge In Japan
If you’ve ever wanted to experience what it’s like to ride a roller coaster sitting in your car, then the Eshima Ohashi Bridge in Japan might be your chance! Even looking at the pictures of this bridge gives us the chills! How do cars climb up the bridge? Why was it built this way?
First things first, this Japanese bridge is not as scary as it seems. Yes, it does look ridiculously steep from a far distance. It seems like cars would just slip and slide right back down.
But in fact, you don’t have to be a hell of a driver to go across this bridge. Thousands of cars cross it every day. It’s all a matter of perspective. If you look at it from a different angle, it looks more like an ordinary bridge with a relatively steep incline, but quite possible to handle. If you watch a video of a person driving over it, you might find yourself a little disappointed.

SUMMARY
- China: This is one of the highest bridges in the world right. It was built at an incredible 1509 feet (460 meters) across the Sidu River. Well, if you’re there, don’t look down.
- The funny thing about this French bridge is that its highest is 62 feet (19 meters) taller than the Eiffel Tower. It connects two large plateaus, so the view from the bridge itself is incredible and, honestly speaking, quite scary especially in foggy weather!
- What looks like a small wheel in London is a bridge! Every Friday it rolls out and becomes a usual insignificant bridge until it turns into a wheel again!
- This is the only bridge in the world that tilts! Normally it’s just a pedestrian bridge. But when there is a boat or a ship that needs to pass underneath it the entire thing tilts giving the water transport enough room to squeeze in.
- Unlike the previous super modern bridges, Ponte Vecchio was built back in the Roman times! Of course, it has been rebuilt and upgraded a few times since then. By the way, Vecchio is Italian for «old», so it definitely lives up to its name!

City in Japan
Matsue is a city on the northwest coast of Japan's main island. Matsue Castle is one of Japan's few largely intact 17th-century castles.
The surrounding park is known for Jozan Inari Shrine’s fox statues. Across the castle moat, Shiomi Nawate street is lined with Edo-period samurai residences. The Lafcadio Hearn Former Residence was the Greek writer’s local home. Pleasure boats ply the waters of vast Lake Shinji.

Matsue Japan: A magical less visited city in Shimame.
Matsue Japan is beautiful, off the beaten path but worth the visit. Perhaps less travelled by the normal tourist; Matsue Shimane is another gem. This quiet city has so much to offer. Not only is it picturesque but it has a castle with what might be one of my favourite surrounding areas with shrines, temples, gardens lined with traditional japanese houses you will love strolling and taking photos.
I used the lakeside bus one day pass to get around and it was easy and affordable. This guide will help you plan your trip before you go!

In the very last picture, you can find a Haiku or Japanese poetry.
It says, にこにこと 笑うあなたが 好きだから
My translation of this Haiku follows.
Your twinkling smile / makes me love you / this much.
I like this Haiku very much. Do you?

Within the samurai town of Matsue City in Shimane Prefecture, visitors can visit the former residence of Lafcadio Hearn, one of the first western authors on Japanese culture. His former residence is now opened to the public.
Though Lafcadio Hearn was born in Greece, his Matsue home was traditionally Japanese. The exterior is the then typical strong Japanese gate while on the other side of the gate is a traditional Japanese garden. Visitors can explore through his home, examining the hanging scrolls in the tatami rooms.
Lafcadio arrived in Japan in 1890. During his time here, he married a Japanese lady and became a naturalized Japanese citizen, taking the name Koizumi Yakumo. Among his works are “Glimpses of Unfamiliar Japan” and Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things. For a deeper understanding of Lafcadio Hearn, there is a museum next to his residence, with collections on both his work and Lafcadio Hearn, the person.

Japan's Best Sunset Spot | Cinematic Japan Travel Vlog: Matsue (Day 3)
Our Japan Trip continued with a visit to Matsue, the biggest city in Shimane Prefecture. We first took a bus from Hiroshima up there, seeing some amazing autumn colors along the way. Once we arrived, we went and saw the famous Matsue Castle, where I gave a (not so) brief explanation of the history of Japanese castles. After that, we went to Lake Shinji, where we saw the most beautiful sunset in all of Japan and took it in with my drone.
If you liked this video, I would appreciate a thumbs up and a subscription :)

Kawazu-Nanadaru,japanese double loop bridge
Kawazu-Nanadaru, Japanese Double Loop Spiral Bridge — An excellent example of this is one of the Japanese road called Highway 414, or rather part of it, which is a rise of the mountain. Raise the road up the mountain is not a trivial task and there is no standard approach. In some countries, paving the way to the mountain gentle zigzags. This method is one of the easiest, but it also has some drawbacks. Firstly, such a method requires a lot of space, because the road has to go at a certain angle, otherwise the wheels of cars can lose a reliable grip with the road. Secondly, the rise on such road takes a lot of time on it because a lot of twists and cars go at a minimum speed. In Japan, confronted them solved the problem quite trivial - they are simply connected by a road at the foot of the hill, with its upper part of the spiral bridge. This design does not require a lot of space and, in addition, good resistance to earthquakes, followed by an extended lift had to be repaired often, which would have resulted in a serious waste. This spiral allows cars to go up and down by 45 m, and, as if they are suspended between the two sides of the mountain. In the loop diameter is 80 m and the entire inclined portion is 1.1 km in length, the speed limit over it is 30 kilometres/ hour, try and stick to it. Bridge on Highway 414 between Tokyo and the peninsula Itza was completed in 1982 and has become a local landmark.
