Shiozawa Tsumugi Memorial Museum is a new foothold of textile culture where traditional textiles and weaving techniques of Shiozawa area are gathered and exhibited. On the ground floor, crafts made with the fabric of the area are exhibited and sold. Visitors can experience their own craft making here. On the first floor, visitors can learn the process of how fabrics are made, and also learn the traditional arts and techniques of weaving first hand.

Shiozawa Industry Festival
This event is held on the Culture Day (national holiday) every year, and is full of fun! Shops and stalls will be out for visitors to taste the local food and drink. There are craft work shops and exhibitions for those who are feeling creative, and vegetable and fruit markets for those who are still hungry!
Phoenix fireworks at the Snow Festival
Many suffered in the Chuetsu area from the Niigata Chuetsu Earthquake disaster of October, 2004. The disaster brought great loss and financial difficulty to industries and businesses not only to those in the Chuetsu area, but to the whole of Niigata. To cheer those who are fighting to revive businesses and regain life before the quake, magnificient fireworks Phoenix was displayed at the Nagaoka Festival, and also at Minamiuonuma city Snow Festival.
