The Naples National Archaeological Museum (Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli) is a museum in Naples, southern Italy, at the northwest corner of the original Greek wall of the city of Neapolis.
The museum contains a large collection of Roman artifacts from Pompeii, Stabiae and Herculaneum. The collection includes works of the highest quality produced in Greek, Roman and Renaissance times. It is the most important Italian archaeological museum.
The museum hosts extensive collections of Greek and Roman antiquities. Their core is from the Farnese Collection, which includes a collection of engraved gems (including the Farnese Cup, a Ptolemaic bowl made of sardonyx agate and the most famous piece in the Treasure of the Magnificent, and is founded upon gems collected by Cosimo de' Medici and Lorenzo il Magnifico in the 15th century) and the Farnese Marbles.
The museum's Mosaic Collection includes a number of important mosaics recovered from the ruins of Pompeii and the other Vesuvian cities.

LEGENDARY PASTA & SANDWICHES! Food Tour of Florence Italy
My food adventure in Florence Italy continues as I spend the entire day just eating nonstop which is my type of fun :-) I really wanted to try out some iconic Florentine dishes and just as much pasta as I can get my hands on.
For my first stop I went to the central market which is a great place to just hang out and eat, walk around then eat some more and hit the repeat button all day. Then I went looking for a local restaurant that is PACKED all the time and finally went pasta hunting. All in all, a pretty fun day!

Places to see in ( Naples - Italy ) National Archaeological Museum of Naples
Places to see in ( Naples - Italy ) National Archaeological Museum of Naples
The National Archaeological Museum of Naples is an important Italian archaeological museum, particularly for ancient Roman remains. Its collection includes works from Greek, Roman and Renaissance times, and especially Roman artifacts from nearby Pompeii, Stabiae and Herculaneum. It was formerly the Real Museo Borbonico (royal Bourbon museum).
The building was built as a cavalry barracks in 1585. From 1616 to 1777 it was the seat of the University of Naples. During the 19th century, after it became museum, it suffered many changes to the main structure. Among the notable works found in the museum are the Herculaneum papyri, carbonized by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, found after 1752 in Villa of the Papyri.
The greater part of the museum's classical sculpture collection largely comes from the Farnese Marbles, important since they include Roman copies of classical Greek sculpture, which are in many cases the only surviving indications of what the lost works by ancient Greek sculptors such as Calamis, Kritios and Nesiotes looked like. Many of these works, especially the larger ones, have been moved to the Museo di Capodimonte for display in recent years.
The Secret Cabinet (Gabbinete) or Secret Room is the name the Bourbon Monarchy gave the private rooms in which they held their fairly extensive collection of erotic or sexual items, mostly deriving from excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Access was limited to only persons of mature age and known morals. The rooms were also called Cabinets of matters reserved or obscene or pornographic.
The museum's Mosaic Collection includes a number of important mosaics recovered from the ruins of Pompeii and the other Vesuvian cities. This includes the Alexander Mosaic, dating from circa 100 BC, originally from the House of the Faun in Pompeii.

Day 14 on our Round The World Trip for Food: Rome, Italy - On our very first day in Rome, we set off early in the morning to see some of the most famous attractions in Rome, including the Colosseum and the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. After doing some more sightseeing and having lunch, we had an amazing Roman food at a restaurant in Rome called Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino.
00:37 Breakfast at the hotel - To begin the day of sightseeing in Rome, we had breakfast at the hotel, and did the final planning of the day.
2:12 Colosseum - One of the most important and well recognized attractions in Rome is the Colosseum and we arrived pretty early to get in, and I also had pre-purchased my tickets online to attempt to beat the crowds and not have to waste time waiting in line. It worked well, and as soon as the Colosseum opened, we went through security and got in. It was an amazing sight to see, especially because it was so quiet when we arrived.
3:51 Roman Forum and Palatine Hill - Locate in the same area as the Colosseum is the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, and so that’s where we went next. Again, seeing the ancient ruins of Rome was truly spectacular.
5:48 Trattoria Luzzi - I wasn’t quite sure where to eat lunch, and located right around these famous attractions in Rome, there are a lot of expensive, and probably not so good restaurants. We decided to go check out a restaurant called Trattoria Luzzi, just down the road from the Colosseum on the opposite side of the road. I ordered Trippa Alla Romana, a Roman tripe dish and also a pasta of Amatriciana. Overall, the food was good, and it was a friendly little restaurant and the location was good. Total price - 21 EUR ($23.47).
10:31 Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano - After lunch we headed to Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, a huge basilica in Rome. Right across the plaza is Scala Sancta, a small chapel with a 28 step staircase where Jesus is believed to have ascended.
13:25 Gelateria Valentino - I don’t know of anyone that goes to Rome without eating some gelato, and right around the Trevi fountain area of Rome, you’ll find a lot of gelato spots. We tried Gelateria Valentino. Gelato - 3 EUR ($3.35)
14:50 Trevi Fountain - Another one of the most iconic attractions in Rome is the Trevi fountain. We didn’t spend too much time there, but it is pretty cool to see in person.
16:25 Amazing Italian Roman food at Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino Restaurant - For dinner, my wife and I met up with Valentina and Antonio. After walking through the amazing narrow lanes of Rome, we navigated our way to Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino Restaurant, where they had made a reservation for dinner. The restaurant is exactly what you want in a classic Roman Italian food restaurant, a family style restaurant that offers an abundance of Roman dishes. We first started with some types of Roman pasta including cacio e pepe, and carbonara, all of which were incredible - the best pastas I’ve ever had. Then we moved on the an amazing assortment of main Italian food dishes, including veal, lamb, and so many other amazing dishes. It was an Italian food meal like I’ve never had before. Most of the dishes were Roman food style. Thank you Valentina and Antonio for the amazing dinner!
Day 14 in Rome was an amazing day of visiting some of the most famous attractions in Rome and eating some incredibly delicious Italian food!

WATCH: One of Italy's most dangerous mafia bosses arrested during raid in Naples
Subscribe to ITN News:
Italian authorities have arrested one of the country's most dangerous mafia bosses Mario Riccio in a raid in Naples and it was all caught on camera. Video released by the police showed officers arresting 23-year-old Mario Riccio in his apartment. According to local media reports Riccio's home had been protected by a video surveillance system which police disabled ahead of the raid. Riccio, nicknamed Mariano is believed to be the youngest on the list of around 300 mafia fugitives considered to be the most dangerous in Italy. Police said the baby boss is thought to be the leader of a Camorra clan controlling drug deals in the area. Riccio, on the run since 2011, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for his mafia association and drug dealings. Report by Andrea Lilly.

Learn How to Make the Best Homemade Pizza with Gennaro Contaldo | Citalia
Pizza is arguably Italy's most famous dish and can now be found all over the world. We're most familiar with takeaway and even frozen pizza but once you've made your very own pizza from scratch, there really is no going back.
In this video, Italian chef, Gennaro Contaldo shows you how to make homemade pizza at home - don't worry, you don't need a wood oven to follow this recipe. Here you'll learn how to make, knead and shape the dough before topping with delicious Parma ham and fresh rocket for a simple yet delicious meal!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Ingredients
(makes 2 x large pizzas)
For the dough
500g strong flour
5g salt
10g fresh yeast
325ml lukewarm water
Topping for Margherita
150g tinned chopped tomatoes or tomato passata
Salt & pepper
1 x tablespoons extra virgin olive oil & extra for drizzling
1 x tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
1 x ball mozzarella
A few fresh basil leaves
Topping for Prosciutto & Rocket
Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
1 x ball mozzarella
1 x tablespoon grated parmesan
4 x slices of Parma ham
Handful of rocket
Juice of ½ lemon
Method
First make the dough. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water. Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Gradually add the yeast mixture, mixing well until you obtain a dough. Place dough on a lightly floured work surface and knead for about 10 minutes. Cover with a cloth or cling film and leave to rest in a warm place for at least 30 minutes until the dough has doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 220 degrees centigrade.
Take the dough, knock it back, then divide into two pieces, cover each with a cloth and leave to rest in a warm place for a further 30 minutes.
Meanwhile prepare the toppings. For the Margherita, place tomatoes or passata in a small bowl, season with salt & pepper and stir in 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Roughly chop the mozzarella.
Sprinkle some flour onto a clean work surface and with your fingers spread each piece of dough into a roughly round shape with a border, make the dough as thin as you can but be careful not to tear it. Sprinkle some semolina or flour onto 2 large flat baking trays and place the pizza bases on them.
Drizzle a little extra virgin olive oil over each base. On one, spread the tomato mixture evenly over, sprinkle with parmesan, scatter a few basil leaves over and top with mozzarella.
On the other base, arrange mozzarella and parmesan all over, top with Parma ham.
Place both pizzas into the hot oven and bake for 8 – 10 minutes.
In the meantime, toss the rocket in a little extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice.
Remove the pizzas from the oven, top the Parma ham pizza with rocket and serve immediately.

Ingredients:
1 litre of water (room temperature)
50g sea salt
1.5kg plain flour
1g yeast
Golden cherry tomatoes (normal are fine if you can't get these)
70g Fior di Latte Mozzarella
Basil leaves
EVOO
STEP ONE: HOW TO MAKE THE PIZZA DOUGH
1. To make the pizza dough like a pro, start by pouring 1 litre of water in a mixing bowl.
2. Add 50g of sea salt to the water and stir with your hands to help it dissolve.
3. Sprinkle in 10% of the flour, using your hands, and stir once again.
4. Dissolve 1 tiny gram of yeast into the water, making sure to do this in order so that the yeast does not come into contact with the salt.
5. Slowly incorporate more flour into the bowl with one hand, and move the bowl around with the other. Continue this process, to make pizza dough like a pro, until you have used all the flour.
6. Once the pizza dough has incorporated to make a mass, transfer it onto your bench.
7. Begin to knead the dough on the bench, folding the sides in and pressing down, then turning the ball as you work it.
8. Continue Step 7 until you have a beautiful soft ball - to test if it's ready, poke your finger gently into the ball. If it rises back up, it's PRONTO!
9. Put the ball into a mixing bowl and cover it with a wet towel or some plastic wrap and leave it to rise for 2 hours.
10. Once the dough has risen, put it back on to your bench, creating balls that weigh between 200-250g
11. When the pizza balls have risen, take one of them and put it on your bench. Gently spread it out using your hands only. You will see that there is gas in the dough and you must make sure this remains, so don't roll it out using a rolling pin, use your hands. This part of the dough is the key to forming the crust!
