India's Supreme Court says Hindus get Ayodhya site for Ram mandir | DW News
India’s Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Hindus who want to build a temple, or mandir, to honor Lord Ram at a disputed holy site in the town of Ayodhya. The court says Muslims are to get another plot of land to build a mosque. Security has been beefed up in and around the town amid fears of violence. In 1992, right-wing Hindu mobs tore down the 16th century Babri mosque which they believed was built at the birthplace of one of their most revered deities. It sparked riots across India that killed more than 2,000 people. The issue continues to provoke tensions between Hindus and Muslims.

Ayodhya Case: Route Cleared To Ram Temple? | ABP News
Senior Advocate Rajeev Dhavan started arguments for Muslim parties. The 29th day of hearing in Ram Janmabhumi-Babri Masjid title dispute case concluded in Supreme Court on Monday in the presence of Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and Abdul Nazeer. The hearing in this matter started on August 6, with arguments being made on behalf of the Nirmohi Akhara. In the following hearings, arguments were made on behalf of the deity Ram Lalla and the Ram Janmabhoomi Punaruddhar Samiti. The Muslim parties started there arguments in the case after the conclusion of arguments on behalf of the Hindu parties.

The Supreme Court today declined to refer the question that “a mosque as a place of prayer is an essential part of Islam” to a Constitution bench. The crucial verdict also paved the way for holding the hearing on title suit on October 29. The 1994 judgement of the Supreme Court had observed that “a mosque is not an essential part of the practice of the religion of Islam and namaz can be offered anywhere, even in the open”. The apex court’s decision today will be on a raft of petitions by a few Muslim groups challenging this 1994 judgement.
A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer had reserved the verdict on July 20.
M Siddiq, who was one of the original litigants in the case, had criticised certain findings of the 1994 verdict in the case of M Ismail Faruqui holding that a mosque was not integral to the prayers offered by the followers of Islam. Siddiq has passed away since and his legal heir are now representing him in the case. A few Muslim groups had argued that the observation of the 1994 verdict needed to be considered as “it had and will have a bearing” on the Babri Masjid-Ram Temple land dispute case”.
Ayodhya Verdict : Ram Mandir To Be Built At Ayodhya Land, Babri Masjid To Get Alternate Land
The Ram Mandir will be erected in the Ayodhya land as the Supreme court has given an alternate land for the Babri Masjid.
The Supreme Court has awarded the disputed site in Ayodhya for the constrution of a temple while also ruling at Muslims must get alternate land within the city for the construction of a mosque. This is part the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit judgment pronounced by a constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi. The Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid verdict was unanimous. Elaborate security arrangements have been made across the country to avoid any untoward incident after the Supreme Court delivers its historic judgement in the politically-sensitive Ramjanmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case.

Stones arrive for Ayodhya's Ram temple after 8 years
Work has started again at the Ram Mandir workshop in Ayodhya as two trucks of stones arrived in the temple city on Sunday after a gap of almost eight years. Four years ago, work had stopped on the project. Now workers are busy carving out pictures for the temple walls. Workshop supervisor Nagendra Upadhyay said, Around 300 workers are available on call to step up work on the temple if need be.
