Pata Rât este o zonă marginală a Clujului în care trăiesc peste 1500 de persoane aflate în sărăcie extremă. Documentarul urmărește desfășurarea proiectului Pata-Cluj, inițiat de Asociația de Dezvoltare Intercomunitară Zona Metropolitană Cluj în octombrie 2014.
Filmul surprinde momentele-cheie ale proiectului pilot de intervenție socială și se concentrează asupra relațiilor personale, sociale și instituționale, explorând poveștile comunităților defavorizate din Pata Rât.

Pata-Rât is a marginal zone of Cluj where over 1500 people live in dire poverty. The documentary follows the unfolding of the Pata-Cluj project initiated by the Cluj Metropolitan Area Intercommunity Development Association in october 2014.
The film presents key moments of the pilot social intervention project and focuses on the development of personal, social and institutional relationships to explore the stories of the marginalized communities in Pata Rât.

In July 2008 Dr. Bradley Briggs and his sister Serina Briggs RDH traveled to Oradea, Romania with dental supplies and a portable dental unit made possible by donations from patients. The trip was coordinated with a group of high school students interested in the medical profession. Over a two week period many people were treated in churches, orphanages and homes.

The edible terrestrial snails Cornu aspersum, [sin. Cantareus aspersus, or Helix aspersa] and Helix pomatia (escargot), represent a regular meal in some countries such as Italy, France, Tunisia, Guatemala, and many other. As candidates for extraterrestrial faming as well as for sustainable farming on Earth, they provide high quantities of animal protein while having no negative impact upon the ecological balance. The snails are very efficient from the bioeconomics point of view. The works of Nicolas Georgescu-Roegen and his followers are at the base of the bioeconomics research. Most of the studies presented in the theses (recorded and presented here) were performed in Romania and some were conducted in the United States of America, Russian Federation as well as Guatemala. Dr. Adrian Toader has a growing number of articles made public under the name of Adrian Toader-Williams, a signature for scientific work. Some of the international work is in collaboration with a team conducted by Dr. Roberto Nespolo from the Instituto de Ecología y Evolución, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Austral de Chile, and other researchers from other countries. For the interested in the bioeconomic aspect of human endeavors, please download the introduction on Triangular EcoKinematics Theory (TEKT) by searching Google, available as PDF document file at several locations. Private, Institutional and Governmental level collaborations are welcomed in the area of economics, agro-economics, ecological protection, sports, health and nutrition, food quality management, sustainable development, bioeconomics, education and social contract. Faculty and Staff Give Free Hugs to Medical Students
LMU-DCOM Celebrates Compassionate Patient Care Week
Harrogate, Tennessee, March 8, 2017 – Compassion was the focus during National Solidarity Week for Compassionate Patient Care at Lincoln Memorial-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. Solidarity Week, sponsored by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes patient-centered care, was held February 13-17, 2017. The events of Solidarity Week are designed to strengthen the critical bond that exists between patients and people who care for them, and demonstrate humanism in medicine.
The week’s activities were planned by LMU-DCOM’s chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS). GHHS is one of the largest and most prestigious honor societies in medical schools, and a signature program of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation. LMU-DCOM is one of 13 osteopathic medical schools approved to have a GHHS program.
“One of the best ways we can teach students to have compassion for others is by showing them compassion personally,” said Rick Slaven, director of the LMU-DCOM Center for Simulation and Training and chapter liaison for the LMU-DCOM GHHS chapter. “We want to lead by example. During this week, we shared stories of compassion with our students and encouraged them to think about how they can show compassion to their patients.”
On Tuesday, faculty and staff posted encouraging post it notes around the building and then greeted first-year osteopathic medical students with free hugs and chocolate kisses as they exited their block exam. Later that week they also surprised second-year students with the same.
On Thursday, students listened intently to stories of compassion from several speakers including Kenny Trent, RN, who shared his experience working in the emergency room when three family members suffered fatal injuries in a car accident. Bob Jackson, a retired military chaplain and LMU-DCOM staff member, shared his experiences with doctors that showed compassion to both him and his wife Nancy during difficult medical situations. Finally, Dr. Michael Wieting, senior associate dean and professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation, brought the students, faculty and staff to tears with his story of being the sole survivor of a car crash involving five of his friends.
Throughout the week students, faculty and staff pondered what compassion meant to them, and shared their experiences on social media using #SolidarityWeek and posted definitions of compassion throughout the building.
By increasing the engagement of patients and those people providing their healthcare, GHHS strives to enhance patient and staff satisfaction and improve healthcare outcomes. More information on GHHS and the Gold Foundation can be found at gold-foundation.org.

Trajan (; Latin: Imperator Caesar Nerva Traianus Divi Nervae filius Augustus; 18 September 53 – 8 August 117 AD) was Roman emperor from 98 to 117 AD. Officially declared by the Senate optimus princeps (the best ruler), Trajan is remembered as a successful soldier-emperor who presided over the greatest military expansion in Roman history, leading the empire to attain its maximum territorial extent by the time of his death. He is also known for his philanthropic rule, overseeing extensive public building programs and implementing social welfare policies, which earned him his enduring reputation as the second of the Five Good Emperors who presided over an era of peace and prosperity in the Mediterranean world.
Trajan was born in the city of Italica (close to modern Sevilla), an Italian settlement in the province of Hispania Baetica. Altough misleadingly designated by some later writers as a provincial, his family came from Umbria and he was born a Roman citizen. Trajan rose to prominence during the reign of emperor Domitian. Serving as a legatus legionis in Hispania Tarraconensis, in 89 Trajan supported Domitian against a revolt on the Rhine led by Antonius Saturninus. In September 96, Domitian was succeeded by Marcus Cocceius Nerva, an old and childless senator who proved to be unpopular with the army. After a brief and tumultuous year in power, culminating in a revolt by members of the Praetorian Guard, Nerva was compelled to adopt the more popular Trajan as his heir and successor. He died on 27 January 98 and was succeeded by his adopted son without incident.
As a civilian administrator, Trajan is best known for his extensive public building program, which reshaped the city of Rome and left numerous enduring landmarks such as Trajan's Forum, Trajan's Market and Trajan's Column. Early in his reign, he annexed the Nabataean Kingdom, creating the province of Arabia Petraea. His conquest of Dacia enriched the empire greatly, as the new province possessed many valuable gold mines.
Trajan's war against the Parthian Empire ended with the sack of the capital Ctesiphon and the annexation of Armenia and Mesopotamia. His campaigns expanded the Roman Empire to its greatest territorial extent. In late 117, while sailing back to Rome, Trajan fell ill and died of a stroke in the city of Selinus. He was deified by the Senate and his ashes were laid to rest under Trajan's Column. He was succeeded by his adopted son Hadrian.
