My travels in Cambodia with Audley Travel
Cambodia isn’t just home to the temples of Angkor. There are coastal islands, tracts of wilderness, Khmer cuisine and scooter-strewn cities to tour.
Our Cambodia specialists filmed this footage on a series of recent research trips. You’ll see a quick clip of some of Siem Reap’s lesser-known temples (which are best reached by bike), but we figure you already know what Angkor Wat looks like.
Instead, you’ll see the variety of experiences available in Cambodia. You could start your trip from Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, crossing the border and journeying to Phnom Penh on a speedboat, passing fishing communities and stilted villages along the way.
Phnom Penh’s temple-lined streets are best explored from the back of a Vespa, stopping for street-snacks and rolled ice cream. You can dive deeper into Khmer cuisine in the French-colonial town of Kampot, with a hands-on cooking lesson in a pepper plantation.
And to relax, there are the waterways and mangrove-trimmed rivers around Kep, a sleepy coastal town, or the beaches of Koh Rong island, whose white sand is so fine it squeaks.
