Sketching Rome Tours with Kelly Medford
Sketching Rome Tours are led by Kelly Medford, a local professional artist who moved to Rome in 2010 after having studying painting in Florence.
She runs a 3 hour sketching tour where she provides a handmade sketchbook and materials (that you get to keep) and explains a few techniques with pencil, pen and watercolor so you can create your own sketches as an alternative way to capture those beautiful and memorable moments when you travel.

Disegnare a Roma con Kelly Medford/ Painting in Rome with Kelly Medford
Just a few short weeks ago I was in Rome painting with Kelly Medford the American artist who now calls Rome home! Despite the Italian summer heat wave, my group and I still managed to find to some cool shady spots to sketch and draw and use our water colors to capture our individual impressions of Rome’s unique cityscapes. Kelly guided us to some very interesting parts of the city that few tourists ever see. To view the text in English & Italian visit the Matta Blog site:

Sketches of Rome
The meetings with international art in Pavona continue.
This year, guests of Studio Lab 138 are students of Texas Tech University, American artists, led by Prof.David Linsday, who came to Rome to understand and see with their own eyes the places where it all began.
A contemporary Gran Tour undertaken to satisfy a desire for knowledge, to touch the acquired knowledge by checking out similarities and differences compared to what has been learned in the university classrooms.
Perhaps a unique opportunity for these students, who have been able to translate with real drawings the works of art seen in the museums and churches of Rome.
~ When in Rome ~ March 2017
I was fortunate enough to visit Rome, Italy in March of 2017 & stayed in a beautiful apartment located at via Sabastiano Ziani.
Via Sabastiano Ziani via Google Maps:
The apartment is located in a very local and quiet section, but is mere steps (10 min walk) to the Vatican. ~ Please see the Ice Cream Cone Photo (my street marker) at street corner leading up to steps to St. Peter's Square and the Vatican. ~
I visited Piazza San Pietro (a.k.a. - St. Peter's Square) and although I did not get to see Pope Francis (known as Papa Francesco in Italy), I did have many memorable “local” experiences and took-in many fountains, local shops, local supermarkets, parks, souvenir shops, ...etc.
Another highlight (and cherished memory) was my ‘Sketching Rome’ Experience available in the Trip Advisor App & run by #KellyMedford
Kelly is an American artist who moved to Rome in 2004 (13 years ago). We met at Villa Doria Pamphili Park where we walked the grounds looking for fountains to sketch. We sketched & painted for three hours! It was a dream come true. :)

Il mio canto libero (Italian)
Lyrics:
____________________________
-- In a world that
– doesn’t want us anymore
– my free singing
– and immensity
– opens around us
– beyond your eyes boundaries
– feeling is born
– it’s born between crying
– and he lift really high and it goes
– and it flies over people’s accusations
– (it flies) indifferent over its heritage
– holed-up by a love gasp
– of true love
– in a world that – stones a day houses
– prisoner is – covered up by wild roses
– we breath free, me and you
– and the truth – abandoned woods
– it offers herself naked to us and – for this survived virgin
– and image is clear – they open
– already – they hug us
– new sensations
– young feelings
– they express their-selves really pure
– in us
– ancient ghosts’ dress
– falling it leaves the painting immaculate
– and a warm wind of love blows
– of real love
– and i discover you again
– sweet mate who
– you can’t ask but you know
– that everywhere you will go
– you will have me by your side
– if you want it
– stones a day houses
– covered up by wild roses
– they live again
– they call us
– abandoned woods
– and for this survived virgins
– they open
– they hug us
– in a world that
– is prisoner
– we breath free
– me and you
– and the truth
– offers herself naked to us
– and image is clear
– already
– new sensations
– young feelings
– they express their-selves really pure
– in us
– ancient ghosts’ dress
– falling it leaves the painting immaculate
– and a warm wind of love blows
– of real love
– and i discover you again...
