Beatenberg - Niederhorn cable car, Switzerland
Beatenberg - Niederhorn cable car, Switzerland 2009
The Seilbahnen Beatenberg-Niederhorn is a pulsed movement gondola lift in the Swiss Canton of Berne. It links the village of Beatenberg with the summit of the Niederhorn. At Beatenberg, the lift connects with the Thunersee–Beatenberg Bahn, a funicular which links with the shipping services on Lake Thun.
The lift, opened in 1997, replaces an earlier aerial cable car on a similar route that was completed in 1946. The line operates four groups of three cabins, which are moved by an endless cable whilst supported by two further cables. Each cabin accommodates up to 17 passengers. There is one intermediate stop, at Vorsass

Ashlyne's Skydive from 18,000 feet!
On July 30, 2018 I headed out to Skydive Tecumseh in Michigan to fulfill a lifelong goal of skydiving! I have wanted to do this for years, and turning 30 seemed like the best excuse to finally do it! Besides, I think I picked a pretty good time considering how far skydiving has come since I first mentioned it to my parents over 15 years ago.
I was able to go all the way up to 18,000 feet! The highest tandem jump you can do in North America - I think. We had to breathe oxygen when we got up there, and my tandem buddy decided we should play some tricks on the pilot to make him even out the plane multiple times. It was great to have an instructor who injects humour into a life-threatening situation, lol. But seriously, it wasn't scary. It was UNREAL. AMAZING. BREATHTAKING. and even life-giving. It was the best, most thrilling adventure of my life, and I'd love to do it again.
If you're thinking of Skydiving, consider Skydive Tecumseh, and consider 18,000 feet. Experience a mind-blowing 75 seconds of free fall, reaching almost 200 km/h (120 mph), followed by a scenic 4-5,000 ft parachute back down to earth. The entire thing is exhilarating, and the extra dough ($) for the photos and video is totally worth it!
TOTAL DISCLOSURE (maybe TMI): Most people don't tell you that there is a 2% risk of you vomiting. Yup... do you get motion sickness on a boat or in the back of a car? You're likely to spew...probably when you're riding the parachute or when you land. I DID! Just before landing, it seemingly came out of nowhere, and I got it all over the front of myself (gear included). There *is* a bag in the back of your vest the instructor can give you if you let them know you're feeling nauseous, so don't be afraid to ask. I'm pretty sure it's better than covering them in bile. THERE...I admitted that I hurled...and in the spirit of my ever-loving girlfriend who convinced me to own it instead of hiding behind the embarrassment, I tried to use as many different words for puke as I could. lol. You're welcome. So, yes, I barfed, but I jumped out of a plane from 18,000 ft!
