Old paper money appraisal, buyers of old money, selling paper money value sell rare currency
We do NO business over the Internet.
A video about 'Old Paper Money' from the guys at A Village Stamp & Coin in Tampa. Visit this rare coin store at
You can come to A Village Stamp & Coin to sell your paper money. We buy all kinds of paper money, from the lowest grade to the highest grade stuff.
What I'd like to tell you, and show you is what we buy in stuff like this. You see a lot of it. This is in my three-for-a-dollar bucket. Alright? And people love to dig in here and just take little souvenirs home. Now understand, when you come in with this kind of stuff, you're not going to make much money on this. This is really cheap. I mean really cheap. You know it's pennies is what we pay for stuff like this.
Let me show you something a little bit better than that.
Right here we have, everything in this case is a dollar. These are notes that are a little bit better. Stuff, that you know, here's an old German note from World War One. Here's some old Cuban money. There's all kinds of stuff in here from all kinds of countries. We sell these notes for a dollar apiece. And you can come in and pick through here, pick whatever you like.
Now, on to a little better stuff than that. What you've been seeing is all world paper money.
In this case over here, I have hundreds of notes that we buy. And these notes I buy anywhere from a quarter to fifty, sixty, eighty, hundreds of dollars. It depends on the note. I also have back here some paper money in books, that you can look through. And this is all our 'world' paper money.
As you can see, there is quite a variety and quite a selection of it. Now, if you'll just look right up here, in our terrafold, this is all U.S. Small sized paper money and so on. We buy this. It runs anywhere from a dollar and a quarter a note that I would pay, to five, six, seven, eight dollars a note. Here's a Ten Dollar Silver Certificate, it's probably worth, I'd pay ten or fifteen bucks for that. This is not expensive stuff. You see lots of it, and lots of people have this kind of material. Here's what's called an old Funny Back. So that's some of the U.S. stuff that we have.
Now let me show you some of the old United States paper money from here, that we buy. Follow me over here. You'll see in this case here, I have anything from Civil War paper money, money that's what's called 'obsolete currency'. Old Large sized paper money, down in here. Right there. That's U.S. This is all paper money that is worth anywhere from five dollars a note, to hundreds of dollars a note. And I pay accordingly. If you'll notice that right here, this piece of money right here, that is Continental Currency from 1776, used by people like George Washington.
So we have quite a selection, and we do buy all of this material. And the prices range all over the map, from rarity, to condition, and so on.
Okay, now you've kind of see a smattering of what it is—paper money, there's just all kinds of it. We also deal in things, these are British Pounds that we buy for exchange, and sell for exchange. You're going to take a trip to England, you might want to come and see us. You can get the exchange rate here cheaper than you can in England. There's Euros. Swiss Francs. So, you can see that we do anything from old rare paper money, to exchangeable money.
We also have certified paper money. This is world. This is expensive stuff. This note right here, I think this is highlighted in our website, I'm not sure, but this is about a five thousand dollar note. So we'll buy from the bottom, three-for-a-dollar junk for pennies, or we'll pay really, really good money for really really good old paper money. This is just a cool note. And—just because everybody likes to see him—when is the last time you saw a five hundred dollar bill?
So come see us at A Village Stamp & Coin. If you have paper money, we'd be glad to help you out with the value of it, or purchase if from you. Thank you for coming by! Visit us at

http://www.vrbo.com/180206 Architectural Work of Art Turn of the Century Uptown Home
This house is the ideal location for Superdome and Convention Center events (10 minute drive). Located four houses off renowned Magazine Street. This New Orleans home is ideally located for a casual stroll to antique and eclectic shops, unique restaurants, the many bars and coffeehouses, or to just enjoy the scenic street shaded by beautiful old oak trees. In the heart of historic uptown New Orleans, you are only a streetcar ride from many local attractions. The St. Charles Avenue Streetcar takes you to the famous French Quarter; the Convention Center; the Riverwalk; and the Superdome; all within three miles.
The following is just a sampling of my favorite restaurants, music venues, and fun things to do close to my home:
Walking distance:
Mona's: excellent Mediterranean food, inexpensive, BYOL; Baru: (great tapas) Jamaican cuisine; 2 fantastic French restaurants: Petite Grocery and Lilette; Theo's pizza; Ignatius Eatery (all New Orleans food); Nirvana: Indian cuisine; Casamento's: best oysters in the city; Savvy Gourmet Restaurant; Superior Grill; Canon's Restaurants on scenic St. Charles; Fuel Coffee House and Magazine Perks for goood coffee; Le Bon Temps Roule (great local live music, NEVER a cover charge, good late food), Brother's III Lounge (more of a local neighborhood bar); Ms. Maes famous 24 hour iconic bar; Buddah Belly Bar; Fat Harry's Bar; and of course, world renown Tipitina's for big name live music, and of course, all or the eclectic shops on Magazine St (too numerous to count!)
Very close (VERY short drive, longer walk): Dick and Jenny's: a must (probably the best food in the city...really!); La Crepe Nanou, French, in expensive, my favorite; Frankis and Johnny's; Sunday brunch or cocktails at Column's Hotel; Commander's Palace for the ultimate classy New Orleans experience, sushi at Kyoto; evening live music at Dos Jefe's Cigar Bar, Upperline Restaurant, Balcony Bar and Grill, Bulldog Bar and Grill, Cafe Rani (good place to sit outside under a big oak), August Moon (Chinese); Mahoney's Po Boy Shop (great Po Boys!); Delachaise and Canon's Restaurants on scenic St. Charles Ave; Nacho Mama's (Mexican and GREAT margaritas); Reginelli's Pizzaria; Prytania Theatre (stand alone neighborhood movie theater); cemetery and Garden District walking tours, Whole Foods.
Short drive: French Quarter, Convention center, Superdome, New Orleans Arena, Downtown, Audabon Park and Zoo, The River Walk, New Orleans Center, countless restaurants and shops.
There is off street parking for three vehicles. (Although you really do not need one!) The house is fully furnished, has wireless internet; satellite TV (Direct TV) with NFL Sunday Ticket package; two Huge HD TV's; modern kitchen; washer and dryer. Upstairs is a spacious loft with two large balconies; wet bar; jacuzzi and glass shower. Downstairs are two bedrooms, the larger bedroom has a queen bed and the smaller bedroom has a full bed (which is actually a very comfortable full sized futon with a memory foam mattress).
In the back of the house is a shaded garden patio with a bar-b-q and hammock.
This is not a condo or a duplex ~ this a most unique and beautiful home. It is truly a work of art. I am very particular about who I rent the property to because it is MY HOME, and I will only be renting it out for a limited time. If you are interested, I suggest you reserve your spot today. It'll be my pleasure to assist you in any way during your stay. I have lived in every part of the city and I can assure you that staying here will give you the feel of the REAL New Orleans!
For exact location and proximity, I recommend Googling the intersection of Magazine Street and Marengo Street. You can then easily see the proximity to all the local attractions.

Lynn Orr Ph.D., Executive Director, The History Museum of Hood River County
The most skilled pictorial artists capture our imagination by making stylistic choices perfectly attuned to the meaning of their images. With deftness of hand finely tuned to narrative intent, an artist can paint away the psychological space between his world and ours. Georges de La Tour’s incomparable The Magdalen with the Smoking Flame is an absorbing masterpiece that draws us into the delicious physicality of his painted realm. Watch 17th-century specialist Lynn Orr for a conversation about La Tour’s artistic essay on the Magdalen. SUMMARY
=======
Judah Philip Benjamin, QC (August 11, 1811 – May 6, 1884) was a lawyer and politician who was a United States Senator from Louisiana, a Cabinet officer of the Confederate States and, after his escape to the United Kingdom at the end of the American Civil War, an English barrister. Benjamin was the first Jew to be elected to the United States Senate who had not renounced that faith, and was the first Jew to hold a Cabinet position in North America.
Benjamin was born to Sephardic Jewish parents from London, who had moved to St. Croix in the Danish West Indies when it was occupied by Britain during the Napoleonic Wars. Seeking greater opportunities, his family immigrated to the United States, eventually settling in Charleston, South Carolina. Judah Benjamin attended Yale College but left without graduating. He moved to New Orleans, where he read law and passed the bar.
Benjamin rose rapidly both at the bar and in politics. He became a wealthy planter and slaveowner and was elected to and served in both houses of the Louisiana legislature prior to his election by the legislature to the US Senate in 1852. There, he was an eloquent supporter of slavery. After Louisiana seceded in 1861, Benjamin resigned as senator and returned to New Orleans.
He soon moved to Richmond after Confederate President Jefferson Davis appointed him as Attorney General. Benjamin had little to do in that position, but Davis was impressed by his competence and appointed him as Secretary of War. Benjamin firmly supported Davis, and the President reciprocated the loyalty by promoting him to Secretary of State in March 1862, while Benjamin was being criticized for the rebel defeat at the Battle of Roanoke Island.
As Secretary of State, Benjamin attempted to gain official recognition for the Confederacy by France and the United Kingdom, but his efforts were ultimately unsuccessful. To preserve the Confederacy as military defeats made its situation increasingly desperate, he advocated freeing and arming the slaves late in the war, but his proposals were only partially accepted in the closing month of the war. When Davis fled the Confederate capital of Richmond in early 1865, Benjamin went with him. He left the presidential party and was successful in escaping from the mainland United States, but Davis was captured by Union troops. Benjamin sailed to Great Britain, where he settled and became a barrister, again rising to the top of his profession before retiring in 1883. He died in Paris the following year.
