having fun bartering for items at the silk street markets in Beijing
No visit would to beijing would be complete without a trip to one of their infamous fake markets, in todays episode I will have some fun bartering with pros at beijings Silk Street Market, notorious for their wide selection of counterfeit designer brand apparel. Refurbished to feel more like a high end shopping centre silk street is renound for fashion apparels and accessories such as hats, handbags, shoes, belts, sportswear with a limited amount of consumer electronics.don’t let the high end appearance of the centre fool you, the sellers here are professonal negotiaters and are skilled at parting tourists with their cash. At the same time as I have negotiated fair prices, i have seen others y 4,5 or 8 times what I have just paid for the same items...

Nice! I like the gray. This color is also nice.
[crosstalk 00:02:14] taking it to me [crosstalk 00:02:17]
Okay. So, I'm going to buy seven of these.
Do not have to bargain. Please. You seem very hard to bargain.
He is a cheater?
Yes. I'm just a teacher.
Bargaining cheater. How much?
For seven.
Lose money!
You don't lose money! nothing.
Come on!
We are not talking the same language.
You gave me this before you said this one, I lose money.
When? But I'm buying seven.
Yeah, if you give us that price we will buy them.
Okay, how much maximum?
Seven.
Maximum.
Okay maximum, this is last if not we go.
Mine, I'm going more than 40.

I will share about this.
In the inside?
I want to get this one, its color looks smart.
Yeah.
I also need another one of this. Can you bring me another one?
Yes.
Awesome.
[crosstalk 00:05:12]
Do you?
Yes.
This is an excess. This is also an excess. It's amazing [inaudible 00:07:05]
Do you want to try?
No, because I want the same one of this.
Same one?
Yeah.
No.
No you don't have it?
No.
These are really pretty. Look, just like this [inaudible 00:07:58]
You guys, that was crazy. Can you believe that there are bags that are 21,000 dollars and they will sell them for less than 100 bucks? That's just unbelievable. So I have some final recommendations for you guys. The first one is to haggle. You have to be ready to negotiate with them. I wouldn't pay a hundred bucks, more than a hundred bucks for anything in the market, so you shouldn't glad either. So my second recommendation is to have a bunch of pictures of what you want and to be familiar with the quality and of course, ask them for the best quality. They will have several different qualities and they will try to sell you the lowest quality just because it's cheaper for them but no, you have to be ready, you need to have pictures, and you need to have a good judgment so you can get the best of the best.
The second recommendation is that these things take time so if you want to get the best price, it's not going to be like oh yeah I'm going to go there and I'm going to give them. These things take time. You have to play their game. The more time you invest, the better the price basically. So, my only recommendation is that some of them are not as nice or as polite as you want but if that is the case, just leave and go to the next store. I'm sure that somebody will treat you nicely and you will be able to have a better experience. So, just don't stay in one store.
My last and final recommendation is for you guys to dress very casual, dress very simple just because that will really help your negotiation. If you are wearing very fancy things, it's going to make it so much harder for you to bring them to a very low, low price so I will definitely recommend you to just keep it simple.
That's it for this video guys. Well, stay tuned because in the next video, we are going to the Great Wall. So stay tuned for that, bye.
ANNOYING SHOPPERS at Beijing’s fake market
Me and my Dutch friend Sibel get bored and decide to go to the Pearl market, which is one of Beijing’s famous fake markets. It is a place always booming with tourists. Sellers there take advantage of the situation and ask for in sane prices. However, tourists still think they make a good deal, since everything is still much cheaper than back home.
After living in China for two years, and been burnt by all these sellers too many times, you learn how everything actually works and realize what a big game this all is! A veeeeryyyy time consuming game..
However, it can get fun! You run into angry, funny, adorable sellers..
If you would like to know more of the tricks how to get a good deal and pay what the good is actually worth, let me know by leaving a comment below!
Beijing has two main fake markets, where you can buy all the fake brands: Pearl market and Silk market. Everything at silk market is more expensive because of the venue looking like fancy shops, while at the pearl market everything is like a big market place full of stalls.
Advice when shopping:
1. Tell them that you live there. Lie.. Don't feel bad about it, because they are best actors of this world.
2. See everyone as they want to rip you off. Trust no one! They are not your friends. All they want is to take your money.
3. Know that the real price should be 70% less than what they are asking you for!
4. Start from much lower amount than you actually are willing to pay and slowly go up.
5. If you do not manage to get a reasonable price, start walking away till they call you back. If they don't then try someone else. They all sell the same things anyway!
6. Be friendly and joke with them. Will make shopping more fun and they might be willing to give you a good price.
7. Prepare to spend a lot of time there!
8. Don't cry if they start shouting at you!
You don't pay for nike shoes more than 150yuan. Watch: 100yuan. Scarf: 40yuan.. Even if its real silk or cashmere!!! BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS FAKE!!!
GOOD LUCK!
Beijing Fake Market Spree!
Today I am back in Beijing, China bargaining at the silk market for all the top brands! Brands such as Supreme, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga, Jordan, Moncler and much more! So come along and let's kill it!

Shopping Beijing China's great Tourist Areas - Silk Street Market
Random Shopping videos from Beijing's Silk Street Market and some street vendors at The Great Wall - Mutianyu. You can buy anything here including knock-offs of any clothing, watches, etc. You can get a bargain if you know what you are willing to pay. I walked away three times before getting a bargain on a linen tablecloth. This is not for the weak at heart or shy.
Yashow & Hong Quio Pearl Markets, Beijing, China
The Yashow and Hong Quio Markets are fixtures in Beijing for cheap, knock-offs of anything and everything. A major disappointment this trip and I'd even brought along an extra suitcase in preparation for a major buying spree. My take is the Chinese Government has been cracking down on the fakes and you're better off (generally) sticking to some of our U.S. sales for great bargains.
Still fun and we still did a little minor Yuan damage. Visit and make up your own mind. Perhaps, you'll get lucky!

This street market is popular among foreigners. It's kinda cheap if you know how to bargain.
