Lake camping at it's finest. You can even get a site next to the lake! This lake, in Northern California has a plethora of outdoor activities available to any adventure seeker. In the summer, boat rentals (kayak and paddle board) are available. Water skiing, wake boarding, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, cruising, and sailing are also available. This video covers reservation information, fishing, campsites, and winter camping fees. This campground is located in El Dorado County.

Camping California: Sly Park Recreation Area
California offers a ton of areas to camp. A coworker mentioned Sly Park Recreation Area as a spot that I should check out so a few weeks ago I headed out on my own to camp at Sly Park Recreation Area. I had a very relaxing weekend at the surprisingly uncrowded campground. The scenery was great and there is a wide variety of outdoor activities to take part in.

Jenkinson Lake Sly Park Dam Trails and Camping
A trip from the cabin to Jenkinson Lake we checked out a few trails and what they had to offer. It is outstanding we will be there next year to camp.
Sly Park Dam is located near Pollock Pines, California in the United States. The dam impounds Sly Park Creek, a tributary of the Middle Fork Cosumnes River, to form a 41,000 acre foot (51,000 dam3), 650-acre (260 ha) reservoir called Jenkinson Lake. It was constructed as part of the American River Division of the Central Valley Project to provide irrigation water to a portion of El Dorado County, California. The dam was begun on May 1953, with clearing operations, and was completed in mid 1955.
The earthfill Sly Park Dam is 190 feet (58 m) high, with a hydraulic height of 170 feet (52 m), and 760 feet (230 m) long. Its auxiliary dam is 130 feet (40 m) high and 600 feet (180 m) long. The spillway of Sly Park Dam is actually in the auxiliary dam: it is a concrete chute 170 feet (52 m) long and can carry 6,700 cubic feet (190 m3) per second, while the outlet works at the foot of the dam can carry 47 cubic feet (1.3 m3) per second. The drainage area of Sly Park Creek behind the dam is 47 square miles (120 km2).[1] The Camino Conduit diverts water roughly 7.2 miles (11.6 km) west from the Jenkinson Reservoir for irrigation purposes. Water is also diverted from Camp Creek into Jenkinson Lake to increase the total water yield

Ever since the first time I rode this trial I knew it was going to be a regular. It's reminiscent of a Tahoe ride in landscape and aside from a long climb at the beginning it has great flow. The loop isn't super long so you can either tackle another trail in Sly Park to add mileage or do the loop. multiple times. #Mountainbiking #Mountainbikes #Singletrack

We Camp at Sly Park Lake with my TRD Tacoma and Sals Ram 1500. Next day we go explore some forest roads and find an isolated spot full of snow. The only place in the forest where the sun does not get through enough to melt the snow.

Mines, Snakes and Shooting Range - Fleming Meadow Hike, Pollock Pines, CA (2019)
Here is a lovely hike near Sly Park that has less traffic, but amazing views. Fleming Meadow Trail System consists of several trails that can be accessed for hiking, horseback riding, or mountain biking. The elevation is between 3500 and 4000 feet, so it stays snow-free for most of the winter but cooler in the summer than the Sacramento Valley. The trail is located in Pollock Pines, just South of Sly Park/Jenkinson Lake.
