Soka American University Aerial Drone Tour
- Soka American University aerial drone tour footage shot with a DJI Inspire 1 by Sly Dog Production.
This footage was uploaded in 1080HD and shows University marketing personnel some of what they can expect in the course of one day if they hire Sly Dog Production to shoot their campus.
In addition to the footage shown here we shot footage of Laguna Beach, the Town Center in Aliso Viejo, California, the Soka Performing Arts Center and car arrival through the main entry. All of these pieces of footage were shot with a DJI Osmo Professional using a Zenmuse X5 camera.
All of the raw footage was shot in 4k at 24 fps, daylight white balance, cinelike in a .MOV file.
This helps give US Universities a good idea of what to expect from a day of filming effort.
We always shoot a full day from sunrise to sunset to ensure that we get two magic hours because the best lighting is always early and late. We also use neutral density filters and circular polarizer's when flying the drone to insure proper color balance which gives us greater capability in post-production.
We carry $2 million of commercial general liability and have shot for more campuses than any other aerial company in the US. We have shot for many schools in the California State University system, Minnesota State University system, private colleges, prep schools and more.

Following the success of Chucho's Steps and a series of world tours, Cuba's foremost pianist has developed a brand new repertoire, the culmination of his ceaseless explorations within the world of Afro-Cuban music, which he cherishes so much.
Boasting a new line-up for his band, The Afro-Cuban Messengers, and a guest appearance from legendary saxophonist Branford Marsalis on three tracks, his new album takes us through an eclectic range of pieces, which are technically complex yet instantly captivating. His dazzling virtuosity as a pianist, his prodigious talents as a composer and his ingenious arrangements unite to create a music that enthralls. Alongside new sources of inspiration (the music of the North American Indians and of the Arab-Andalusian culture), the album is infused with the verve of Valdés' early trailblazing Cuban Jazz ensemble Irakere, his nostalgia for Cuban big bands, the punch of Hard Bop, the magical rhythms of the Yoruba drums, and of course the spiritual lyricism which is the mark of all great jazz

Ranky Tanky Best Regional Roots Music Album GRAMMY® Nominee
Since their formation, the Charleston five-piece Ranky Tanky have established themselves as global ambassadors for their tight-knit local community, bringing the West African-influenced sounds of the South Carolina Lowcountry around the world - including the TODAY Show stage and the top of the Billboard genre charts. Now, Ranky Tanky will take the next step in that journey, bringing Gullah music to the GRAMMYs for the first time ever with the news that their most recent release Good Time has been nominated for Best Regional Roots Album this year.
Gullah is a centuries-old sound that has been carried down through generations in the Sea Islands of the Southeastern United States, originated by African Americans in coastal South Carolina and Georgia during slavery and faithfully preserved by their descendants up through the present day. In Ranky Tanky's hands, Gullah music has been described as soulful honey to the ears (NPR), and now this essential yet too little known corner of the African American story will finally be represented on Music's Biggest Night.
Watch Ranky Tanky perform their original Gullah song “Freedom” from Good Time on The TODAY Show:
Ranky Tanky’s Charlton Singleton explains the origins of the Gullah community, Gullah music and how the group has boldly kept their West African heritage thriving through generations:
Most recently, Ranky Tanky were the subjects of a 10-page profile in Oxford American as part of an issue dedicated to the musical history of South Carolina. The feature concludes that “Ranky Tanky’s offering to American music history is distinct – it encases the traditional in carefully built, geometric layers of funk that protect us from forgetting this music, no matter where or how we are moved from this land.” Read the profile in full here:
Previously, Ranky Tanky have been praised by NPR for “bringing freshness and uplift to overlooked Americana,” and Garden & Gun have said if Ranky Tanky doesn’t get you moving, you might want to check your heartbeat. Around their 2017 self-titled debut album, Ranky Tanky sat down with Terry Gross on Fresh Air to discuss all things Gullah. Listen to that informative interview here:
Ranky Tanky will continue to tour Good Time into 2020, including a late January run through Southern California, and a much anticipated hometown show with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra on March 12.
