For our last walk of 2019 we are in Wroclaw / Poland again. This city in western Poland (German: Breslau) was among our first walks on the channel
This time we start outside of the old town this time where we see some first festive lights. The Christmas markets in Poland run until 31.12. so we quickly see the first one on Plac Solny and the bigger one on the Rynek (main square). A stage for the New Years celebrations is still being built.
A quick stroll through the Stare Jatki, an old street with collection of bronze farm animals as a memorial to slaughter. We see the nearby St. Elizabeth's Church and have a look inside. We then head north to the university and outside of the old town.
The sun is down by now. It gets darker and colder when we get to the Oder river and
Ostrów Tumski, the island of churches. This island has a 1000 year history with Nicolaus Copernicus and even Giacomo Casanova living there once in their lives.
Passing the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist we finish our round through Wroclaw, which is mostly the reverse walk from January, near the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul.
Note: The last ca. 14 minutes needed to be brightened up in post-processing. There is more video noise yet it's a bit more watchable than an even darker video. Also watch out for flickering LEDs in case of being sensitive to strobes. Some lights are out of sync with video fps as I film 60p @ 1/100sec to avoid European 50Hz flickers.

We stayed in the Friends apartment/hostel hotel in our own apartment on the smaller Solny square connected to the main square. It was just beautiful - as was the city! Couldn't help but film the Hare Krishna singing and dancing through the street.

The Saline Square (Plac Solny)
Why Plac Solny? What does it mean? Once it was the place where for the salt trade. The Saline Square is situated in the southwestern part of the Main Market (Rynek). It was established in 1242 and was used as an additional market. Today, due to a large number of cozy coffeehouses, it has become a favorite meeting spot of Wroclaw inhabitants and tourists.

The buildings around the square are built according to different styles: the middle part (German: Tritt) of the ring is occupied by a block of buildings consisting of the Town Hall, the New City Hall as well as numerous citizens' houses. The market square is an urban ensemble with the two diagonally contiguous areas - the Salt Market and the square in front of St. Elisabeth's Church. Eleven streets lead to the market: two to each corner, two narrow lanes and an opened out side square, Kurzy Targ (Chicken Market).( )

Der Ring hat die Gestalt eines Rechtecks mit den Maßen 205 mal 175 m. Die Bebauung rund um den Ring erfolgte in verschiedenen Stilepochen: Der mittlere Teil des Ringes ist durch den Tritt (ein Mittelblock) besetzt, welcher aus dem Rathaus, dem Neuen Rathaus sowie zahlreichen Bürgerhäusern besteht. Der Ring bildet ein städtebauliches Ensemble mit den beiden diagonal anschließenden Plätzen -- Salzring und Kirchenplatz bei der Elisabethkirche. Am Ring münden 11 Straßen, je zwei an allen Ecken: Schweidnitzer Straße (ul. Świdnicka), Ohlauer Straße (ul. Oławska), Schlossstraße (jetzt E. Gepperta), Reuschestraße (ul. Ruska), Nikolaistraße (ul. św. Mikołaja), Oderstraße (ul. Odrzańska), Schmiedebrücke (ul. Kuźnicza), Albrechtstraße (ul. Wrocław - krótki pobyt - zwiedzanie, stary rynek, mostek pokutnic
Podczas naszego krótkiego pobytu we Wrocławiu spacerowaliśmy po rynku, widzieliśmy ratusz i fontannę, a także pomnik Aleksandra Fredry. Odwiedziliśmy też kościół Św. Marii Magdaleny i weszliśmy na słynny „Mostek Pokutnic”, gdzie podziwialiśmy widoki.

Film Miasteczko na Sieradzkim Rynku
Film Miasteczko, którego sceny były kręcone w Sieradzu w drugiej połowie ubiegłego wieku, sieradzanie mogli oglądać w minioną sobotę, 31 sierpnia, w Rynku. Film Miasteczko nakręcony był w 1958 roku w reżyserii Romualda Drobaczyńskiego, Juliana Dziedziny i Janusza Łęskiego. Film był kręcony na sieradzkich ulicach, jak i w kamienicach okalających sieradzka starówkę. Niektóre z tych kamienic stoją do dziś, lecz teraz wyglądają nieco inaczej.
