Should you visit Thames Town? Whilst visiting Shanghai, we decided to visit this popular Shanghai tourist attraction - an England town in China.

What is in Thames Town China?
This London town in China includes phone boxes, old styled English cathedrals, tea houses, street names, trafalgar square and even a fake harry Potter - all celebrating England.
Do people live in Thames Town?
A few. We saw many people visiting to take photographs and it seemed some of the homes were occupied but very few. No where near the number that I am sure China wanted in the area.
Can I visit Thames Town and where is Thames Town?
You certainly can - Thames town is just outside of Shanghai in a place called Songjiang District. You can get a taxi (40 minutes) from Shanghai city centre or jump on the metro to Songjiang New City Station on Metro line 9.
Is Thames Town a ghost town?
Yes and no. It is clear people live there so it isn't completely .a ghost town. However, hardly anyone is there and it looks like there are a lot of areas/shops/homes that have never been used. It feels almost like a ghost town.
Should you visit Thames Town?
if you are short on time in Shanghai, maybe not but if you are in Shanghai for a little and want to do something different, Thames Town definitely makes for a fun day out.
