Hey, it's Amanda Vey, and in this video, my family and I paid a visit toThe South Simcoe Railway Steam Engines, in Tottenham, Ontario, Canada.
The South Simcoe Railway is a non-profit historical association dedicated to preserving and operating Ontario’s vintage railway equipment. They host several scenic tour excursions during the summer, as well as special events throughout the year. They have several steam locomotives as well as diesel electric vintage trains in their fleet, making this a great daytrip from Toronto for families who love trains, and families who explore.
Visiting the SSR is one of the many wonderful things to do in York Region. The Ontario Heritage Railway is the first of its kind in the province, and is a proud part of New Tecumseth Tourism. Families who wander will not be disappointed if they choose this location as part of a York Region Day Trip. Visit new Tecumseth with family and be sure to enjoy the scenic tour with the Vintage Trains in Tottenham, Ontario!
Currently, The Heritage Steam Engine tour is an affordable $15 for adults, $12 for Seniors $9 for kids ages 3-5 and FREE for kids 2 and under.

The South Simcoe Railway is a heritage railroad based out of Tottenham, Ontario. The train takes a leisurely trip to Beeton. On select days in 2016, steam locomotive 136 powered the train. 136 was built by Rogers Locomotive Works in 1883 for the Canadian Pacific Railway

While visiting my family in Canada, I decided to stop by the South Simcoe Railway in Tottenham, Ontario to take a ride on one of the excursions. Today, the South Simcoe Railway was celebrating its 25th anniversary. Today, ex Canadian Pacific 4-4-0 no. 136 was assigned to the excursions. This was the second operating steam locomotive I've seen. At the station, there was a clarinet player playing music when the train was in the station, and cake was also being served. At 1:30 PM, our excursion departed for Beeton, and then back to Tottenham. Enjoy!

The South Simcoe tourist railway operates between Tottenham and Beeton north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. There's no turntable or wye so the train only runs back and forth. A steam engine was operating in September, 2011 when I took this video. A diesel is used after the autumn season for the Santa Claus specials.

Built in 1883 by Rogers Locomotive Works, #136 lived a long life serving Canadian Pacific branchlines before ending up with South Simcoe.
