Dead Horse Ranch State Park + Angie Turns 15!
In this video, I continue my 2017/2018 Snowbird trip series with a look at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood, Arizona.
First, I show you our route from Saddle Mountian BLM up to Cottonwood with including a two-night stopover in the Table Mesa Rec Area, a free boondocking campground about 15 miles north of Phoenix.
Once in the Dead Horse Ranch State Park, we celebrate the beagle's 15th birthday, and you join Angie and me for a hike around the park. I show you the camping areas, the surrounding countryside, and the fishing ponds.
The video ends with some advice and directions to find maps and information for those looking to do some boondocking in the beautiful National Forest lands that surround Sedona.

A Scenic Drive Up The Mountain to Jerome, Arizona
I recorded my scenic trip up the mountain from Prescott Valley to Jerome Arizona.
Harley Road Trip - Tucson, AZ to Jerome, AZ - Arizona Highway 89A - motorcycle bucket list
If you're not familiar with AZ Hwy 89A, it is one of the better rides in AZ. If you're in, or will be visiting the Phoenix area, consider heading up to Prescott via the Carefree Highway (74), through Wickenburg. Then from Prescott, head over 89A to Jerome. The map also includes a more scenic route back to Phoenix through Payson (260 to Payson, 87 to Phoenix - not included in this trip/video).
SOUTHWEST U.S. | cinematic travel video and roadtrip with hiking rafting horseback riding ballooning
Southwest United States cinematic roadtrip travel adventure video ( Utah and Arizona ) with hiking, rafting, horseback riding and a hot air balloon ride!
I took my nephew and niece on an adventure through the desert Southwest of the United States! We began in Las Vegas, where we witnessed Cirque du Soleil's Beatles Love show, the most exciting Cirque show I've ever had the pleasure to witness! The next day we began our trip to Capitol Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands National Parks. We drove to Lyman to explore Capitol Reef. Then off to Moab to see Arches and Canyonlands. While we were there we river rafted with Adrift Adventures and rode on horseback at Red Cliffs Lodge.

Continuing our adventure, we took highway 163 to Flagstaff, Arizona, which allowed us to witness Monument Valley, a Navajo tribal park which sits at elevation 5,564 feet and with sandstone buttes as tall as 1,500 feet. We also visited Bearizona Wildlife Park, where we saw native black bears, fox, bison and otters, and took a trip to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We drove through the Red Rock Scenic Byway near Sedona, and even went for a hot air balloon ride with Red Rock Balloon Adventures, before flying home.
Our national parks and scenic areas are preserved for all to enjoy. Come get a taste of the old West and discover the four corners area for yourselves.
Footage includes the Delicate Arch trail, Red Cliffs Lodge, Colorado River, Monument Valley, Capitol Reef petroglyphs, raven, desert cottontail rabbit, and a red fox during the introduction. Capitol Reef, Gifford House, more of the Delicate Arch trail, Double Arch, more of the Colorado River, Red Cliffs Lodge horseback riding trail, Mesa Arch, Grand View Point Overlook, Artist Point Overlook, Aztec Butte granary, Monument Valley, hot-air ballooning near Sedona, the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Desert View Watchtower, and Aztec Butte.

Cottonwood Campground - Canyon de Chelly
A nice, large campground INSIDE Canyon de Chelly National Monument near Chinle AZ. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. No reservations. A few quirks.... in the video I mentioned feral dogs. Turned out they arent feral, but 'owned' by locals (or maybe recently abandoned) that are mainly looking for food.... so be careful. I actually made a 'friend' of a pit (didnt feed him but he knew I was kind) but still was leery of him approaching our beautiful black lab - who doesnt have a mean/defensive molecule in his body ;-) And the bathroom situation wasnt as dire as I first thought.... yes, only one CAMPGROUND bathroom was open with one unworking toilet out of three, but (heres an insider tip to my YouTube viewers) the PICNIC restrooms - which are PRIVATE, locking rooms WERE!!! A nice option in the morning!!! They are located between the checkin station and picnic area. Just a few steps off the campground road!!! A great find ;-) Burrs were bad ;-( Constantly pulling them out of pups foot, and ours.

DAY-HIKING - The Red Cliffs Recreational Area in Utah
In this hike, in June of 2018, my daughter and I decided to go check it out at the last minute on a Monday. I like hiking in the middle of the week when places are a little less crowded. It was around lunchtime when we arrived so; we ate before we started walking.
The Red Cliffs National Conservation Area is located in the southwest of Utah, north of Saint George and west of Leeds, right off of I-15. It is beautiful conservation with beautiful rock formations and even some water features. Red Cliffs offers campgrounds and also some non-technical trails which makes it very accessible.
Our destination was the waterfall and the water pools that we find at the end of the trail. Unfortunately, when we got there, all the water was gone. I'm not sure why but we were sad. We were also hot and thirsty, so we rested for a while and hiked back to the trail-head. Sometimes hiking can be disappointing if you have a destination to get. However, just the fact that we had gone hiking somewhere already made my day and everything after that got so much better :-)
