The archipelago of Gothenburg comprises northern and southern archipelagoes. The southern archipelago is part of Gothenburg municipality located in the province of Västergötland while the northern archipelago is Öckerö municipality, located in the province of Bohuslän. Trafikverket has ferries from Lilla Varholmen to the northern archipelago. Some of the islands are interconnected by bridges. Southern archipelago ferries go from Saltholmen, plus a freight ferry from Fiskebäck.

Day trip to Gothenburg Archipelago, Rörö – Swedish Nature
A day trip to Rörö, a rocky island in Gothenburg Archipelago.
The Swedish winter weather doesn't seem to cooperate, but we decide to go anyway. So we take a tram, a bus, another bus, a ferry and another ferry and finally, after 2.5 h, we reach our destination. Most of the island is a nature reserve, and there is a nice trail that goes all around it along the coast. With a small deviation it is possible to hike to the highest point, at the centre of the island, which gives you a fantastic view on Rörö itself and the neighbouring islands, including the fortress of Marstrand.
In the afternoon the skies finally clear and we enjoy a bit of sun. However, we miss the ferry to go back to Gothenburg, and have to wait for 90 minutes for the next one. All cafes, restaurants and shops are closed because it's winter, so we must wait in the cold.

7/18/15 Verango Southern Archipelago, Gothenburg, Sweden
After all the teams were eliminated in the final rounds, all the players and parents and coaches took a trip to the Southern Archipelago... to the Island of Verango for the day. The ride out on the ferry was great as we stopped a several other Islands along the route. Once on the Island everyone went off in their different ways to explore and enjoy the beauty of this small Swedish island.
I used the music from Cd's With Swedish music...I have no idea what they are singing about but hopefully YouTube doesn't shut this down for using recorded music as I had to shut down the wind noise and opted for the music that sounded like it fit the video and is for entertainment purposes only.
I know Evert Taube grew up in this area and the 1st and last song are from his music and I think it is about a trip on the sea from what I pick up in the words. Hopefully this stays up and you all enjoy it with the Swedish flavor of music added on.

Vrångö is the southernmost inhabited island in the Southern Gothenburg Archipelago and it is also a locality situated in Gothenburg Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 364 inhabitants in 2010. The ferry 281 to Vrångö can be taken from Saltholmen.
