Indian spices for sale, Udaipur
Indian spices include a variety of spices grown across the Indian subcontinent (a sub-region of South Asia). With different climates in different parts of the country, India produces a variety of spices, many of which are native to the Subcontinent, while others were imported from similar climates and have since been cultivated locally for centuries.
Spices are used in different forms - whole, chopped, ground, roasted, sauteed, fried and as topping. They blend food to extract the nutrients and bind them in a palatable form. Some spices are added at the end as a flavouring and are typically heated in a pan with ghee or cooking oil before being added to a dish. Lighter spices are added last, and spices with strong flavour should be added first. Curry is not a spice, but a term used by western people and refers to any dish in Indian cuisine that contains several spices blended together and could be with a gravy base or a dry item.
Udaipur is also known as the City of Lakes, is a city, a Municipal Corporation and the administrative headquarters of the Udaipur district in the state of Rajasthan in western India. It is located 403 kilometres southwest of the state capital, Jaipur, 576 km southwest of Alwar, 248 km west of Kota, and 250 km northeast from Ahmedabad. Udaipur is the historic capital of the kingdom of Mewar in the former Rajputana Agency. The Sisodia clan of Rajputs ruled the Mewar and its capital was shifted from Chittorgarh to Udaipur after founding city of Udaipur by Maharana Uday Singh. The Mewar province became part of Rajasthan after India became independent
Apart from its history, culture, and scenic locations, it is also known for its Rajput-era palaces. The Lake Palace, for instance, covers an entire island in the Pichola Lake. Many of the palaces have been converted into luxury hotels. It is often called the Venice of the East, and is also nicknamed the Lake City. Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, Udai Sagar and Swaroop Sagar in this city are considered some of the most beautiful lakes in the state.

TRADITIONAL RAJASTHANI THALI & Visiting AMER FORT, Crown Jewel of RAJASTHAN | Jaipur, India
On my first day in Jaipur I headed out with my friend Karan to eat traditional Rajasthani Thali and to visit a ton of main historical sites including the crown jewel of Rajasthan, Amer fort!
TRAVEL HUSTLE REPEAT GEAR ►
MY FILM MAKING KIT ►
We started our tour of the city by visiting the City Palace. This is where the royal family of Rajasthan live. The palace was built between 1729 and 1732, it is a museum and a royal residence.
Next up we swung by the Hawa Mahal, a pink sandstone palace which was built in the form of a high wall to screen royal ladies as they watched street festivities.
For lunch we headed to Torba restaurant to try some traditional Rajasthani Thali. It's very different from northern Indian food. A mix of vegetables, chutney's and breads.. delicious!
From there we headed to Jal Mahal a palace that sits in the middle of Man Sagar lake. The grand palace is made of red sandstone and most of it submerged.
To end out tour we headed to Amer Fort, one of the largest and most famous fortresses in Rajasthan. It also has the 3rd largest wall in the world. It's a fortress and a palace and the highlight for me was the Mirror Palace. Amer Fort was built in red sandstone and marble and the Maotha Lake adds a certain charm to the entire fortress.
I hope you liked this tour of Jaipur! If you did please give this video a thumbs up, leave a comment and subscribe to my channel for more awesome travel content!

Hi! We're Hannah and Chad! We met at college and got married in August of 2016. As poor newlyweds and recent college grads, we moved to New York City to begin what we thought would be our long careers in finance. Only one year later, after accumulating over 2 million miles and points through travel hacking, we booked round-the-world business class tickets to over 40 countries for free. We quit our jobs, sold everything we owned, and began this once-in-a-lifetime adventure on August 27, 2018. Chad has always loved creating home videos to hold onto the memories we share while traveling, so we started this YouTube channel as a place to share our adventures with friends and family. Gujarat INDIAN STREET FOOD TOUR - Sev Usal, Shrikhand, Dabeli, Ragda & more! #RockEats
Gujarat is known for its sweet food, so I hit the streets in the beautiful city of Vadodara, Gujarat, to try the best Gujarati street foods and eat like a local!
Vadodara, Gujarat (formerly Baroda) is a foodie city. The quality of the food, the taste, and cleanliness of Vadodara is the best. The Indian street food in Vadodara is delicious and clean and safe for foreigners to eat. Vadodara is one of the top foodie cities in India.
The Indian food in Gujarat is just a little sweeter than the rest of India. They add sugar into everything including their salty snacks! You're going to eat a lot of sweet, spicy, and tamarind chutney infused dishes in Gujarat.
We ate the following Indian streets foods, some are available around India, but all have a uniquely Gujarati style to them:
1. Sev Usal ₹35 - A very chilli spicy curry with chickpeas and fried biscuits.
2. Sev Kachori ₹25 - A deep fried biscuit shell filled with chutneys and more sev.
3. Ragda Samosa ₹30 - A samosa covered in a spicy chickpea curry.
4. Samosa Sandwich ₹50 - A samosa between two slices of bread with tomato, chutney, and a ton of cheese. Served with chips and tomato sauce.
5. Dabeli ₹20 - The classic Gujarati vegetable hamburger. Like everything else here it has Sev and lots of tamarind chutney.
6. Shrikhand ₹190/kg - A thick and very sweet yoghurt. It comes in over 14 flavours. The berry and traditional Gujarati saffron flavours are best.
The food tour took a twist when someone on Instagram told me to go to a snacks store to try Indian mithai (sweets) and namkeen (snacks). The shop assistant saw my camera and wouldn't stop stuffing me with these fantastic Gujarati Indian snacks and desserts.
I love eating Indian street food, and I always film in places no one else does! See more of me eating Indian food:

Food info:
1) Khad Lam (Slow Cooked Underground Lamb):
Khad lamb (means cooking lamb in a pit in the ground)
Earlier soldiers didn’t want to leave any trace of smoke so that they can hide hence discovered this way of cooking.
Earlier it was rabbit meat but now since it banned so we are cooking lamb.
Making of garam masala- Roast all the following ingredients and pound it together: green cardamom, black pepper, cloves, coriander seeds, black cardamom, turmeric, bay leaves and caramelized onion powder.
Basic marination- Make cuts on the leg of the lamb and put minced garlic with lots of freshly prepared garam masala.
Next for the paste-mix red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric, salt and lots of ghee.
Add this paste to the basic marination with a base of rotis and banana leaves. Cover it with a wet jute sack so that it doesn’t burn as it needs to be in direct contact with the fire for 2 hours in the pit.
2) Junglee Mass (Wild meat)
Five Ingredients Recipe-
If hunting, you get stranded, these are easily available in any village
Red chilli powder, Ghee, Salt, Dal or lentil, Coriander seeds, Lamb pieces. In a wok, combine everything together till the meat is soft and tender.

» THE RESTAURANTS + FOOD
1. CHAUDHARY NAMKEEN: Mirchi Vada
ADDRESS: 119-120, 2nd B Road, Sardarpura, Jodhpur, Rajasthan 342003
OPEN: 11AM - 8PM
Mirchi vada, a popular Rajasthani snack or breakfast, are green chilies filled with spicy potatoes, dipped in batter and fried. We went to Chaudhary Namkeen, a family-owned restaurant that has been serving mirchi vada using their secret masala recipe for four generations.
????MAKE MIRCHI VADA: Boil potatoes, cool and mash them. Chaudhary Namkeen then adds their secret masala (using ingredients such as dry lemon powder, chilli powder, asafoetida, turmeric and salt) into the mashed potatoes. Grind the lentil and, using water, salt and red chili powder, create the batter. Cut a slit down the center of the chillies, add the mashed potato mixture and coat with freshly ground gram flour batter, allowing them to cook from the inside. Fry. Eat. To cut the saltiness and spice, many people eat mirchi vada with bread.
PRICE: 25 cents/17Rs per piece
__
2. GYPSY RESTAURANT: Gulab Jamun Ki Sabzi
ADDRESS: 689, 9th C Rd, Sardarpura, Jodhpur, Rajasthan 342003
OPEN: 12PM - 1:45PM, 7PM - 10:30PM
Jodhpur is the highest consumer of ghee (clarified butter) in India. Rather than a typical onion/tomato-based curry, Jodhpur is known for using dairy products. Gulab jamun are a milk-solid-based sweet, typically eaten as a dessert; however, in Rajasthan, instead of soaking gulab jamun balls in sugar syrup, they cook them in a gravy made from nuts and tomato to create gulab jamun ki sabzi.
????MAKE GULAB JAMUN KI SABZI: Combine refined flour, mawa (milk solid) and cumin seeds and roll them into balls. Fry the rolled balls in ghee, then soak them in water for roughly 15 min, until they become soggy. In a wok, add ghee, cumin seeds, hung curd, dessicated coconut, turmeric, garam masala, salt, red chilli powder, mawa and cook.
PRICE: $5/367Rs for thali buffet platter of 31 items; $10-12/800-900Rs per kg, if only gulab jamun ki sabzi
__
3. SHASTRI CIRCLE MARKET: Shastri Circle Market is an ideal spot to take a break and sample a variety of local foods after a long day of exploring Jodhpur. We tried pani puri and a special chaat.
OPEN: 5PM - 9PM
PANI PURI
Pani puri is a wheat puffed crisp filled with a mixture of boiled potatoes, boiled black channa (pulse), salt and red chilli powder. Top off this tasty snack by filling it with flavored water and enjoy!
PRICE: 27 cents/20Rs per plate (8 pieces)
THE GIRLFRIEND CHAAT
Chaat is a savory snack typically served at roadside tracks from stalls or food carts. The stall where we stopped offers a unique Girlfriend Chaat, known for its intense spice. True love is is put to the test by challenging your partner to eat this insanely spicy snack. It’s a mean test, trust me.
????MAKE THE GIRLFRIEND CHAAT: Starting with baked wheat cups, add green chillies, Kashmiri red chilli powder, Rajasthani red chilli powder, black salt, chaat masala, garam masala, gram flour shavings, tamarind chutney, gram flour fried balls of different colors, pressed fried chickpeas, tomato and coriander. Eat and prepare for the heat.
PRICE: 40 cents/30Rs per piece

On our second day in Pune, after having breakfast at a local McDonald’s, my friend Sam and I met up with our new friend Aditya and headed out to explore the city, see some of the local sites and attractions, and indulge in some of the delicious and sugary sweets that help make Pune a must-visit destination for any food enthusiast. Come along with us as we explore the city!
My Film Making Kit ►
Here are all of the places we visited and some of the different sweets we tried!
-Parvati Hill
We started our tour of Pune by making the steep climb up Parvati Hill, a hillock in the city that rises 2,100 feet above sea level. The climb was tough, especially after very little sleep, but it was so worth it. Parvati Hill is the second-highest point in Pune and offers a panoramic view of the entire city, but the main attractions there are the five Hindu temples that sit atop it: Devdeveshwar, Kartikeya, Vishnu, Vitthal, and Rama. Other noteworthy sites on the hill are the Peshwa Museum and an unfinished Buddhist cave on the hill’s southeast side.
-Fresh Coconut Water
One of the things I love about India is the street vendors who sell fresh coconuts and cut a small hole in them so you can drink the water inside. It’s super nutritious and hydrating, and is a cooling and refreshing treat on a hot day like this one!
Next, we headed to a candy shop called Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale to sample several local sweets. Here are some of the ones we tried:
-Bhākarwadi
-Kaju Katli
-Kaju Kesar Rolls
-Keshar Katli
-Badam Mewa
And finally, Sam and I finished off our day with a delicious Tandoori Chai served in clay pots. They were piping hot, but so delicious!
I hope you enjoyed this video of me and Sam exploring Pune and trying some of the local confections! If you did please give this video a thumbs up, leave a comment and subscribe to my channel for more awesome travel and food content!

It's an amazing trip, this life, but of course it also has it's downs. This is still our real life with kids arguing, tears, hurts, downfalls and the like. We always try and reboot our attitudes and get back on the road with a happier attitude. It is a choice!
We are the Wallace Family and we are Clicking Refresh to Reboot our Lives one day and experience at a time. xoxo

Jaipur: Pink City and Indian culture discovery
In this video, we go to typical touristy places and also learn a lot about the Indian culture. Each city we go, we understand more and more the way Indians are and their traditions.
Main places:
1) Brahm Ram Mandir (hidden gem)
2) Amber Palace (a MUST, it's amazing)
3) Panna Meena ka Kund (an Instagramy place)
4) A block printing fabric store (interesting)
5) City Palace (we didn't feel like going in, besides it was super expensive)
6) Molly Moo Ice Cream (my huge obsession with ice cream in this wonderful place with like 50 flavors or more)
7) Raj Mandir Cinema (also a must)
8) Jawahar Kala Kendra (like a modern art museum, it's ok, if you don't go you don't miss anything)
9) World Trade Park (it's very cool)
Due to our flight loss, we had one more extra day where we could go to places we didn't plan to, but it was ok.
Next time, be very aware of the flight schedule.
Travel Vlog, INDIA: Delhi 6: The Spice Market, and Kathak Dancing in Haveli Dharampura
Come with me for chai, trim shopping, spice markets, the biggest mosque in south Asia, and Kathak dancing in an old haveli! We take you through the tiny streets to show you around the crazy, wonderful madness that is Delhi 6.
Kathak is one of the ten major forms of Indian classical dance. The origin of Kathak is traditionally attributed to the traveling bards of ancient northern India, known as Kathakars or storytellers.
