We always love going back to Canberra for weddings getting to explore more of this beautiful state is always a pleasure & staying with the amazing parent of our first ever Canberra wedding Matt & Margarita who over the years have become like family to us to the point we actually call them Mum & Dad.
We arrived at the Boys nice & early ready to kick start this magical wedding. The boys helped Marko get into his suit with Dad close by to help by bringing out a bottle of Whisky he had been saving for this very moment, Marko's groomsmen where very happy & enjoyed the very expensive and smooth gift. As Mum comes in & starts fussing over her beautiful boy the family pull’s him outside to have a drink to congratulate him on his stunning soon to be bride.
When we arrived for the bride prep Jessica had picked the Barton Room at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra, she had chosen this location because of the amazing floor to ceiling windows to let in amazing natural light for us photographers. Which might I add is one of our favourite things! Now that’s what I call thoughtful, & just to top it off she even had a mannequin for her dress which made for some breath taking images. Jess didn't even mind when I went in and re decorated her room by moving all the furniture around & out of the way so we could make the most of everything this stunning room & dress had to offer.
St Christopher’s Cathedral was absolutely amazing, we have shot there before for Daniel and Angela's wedding & as I remember was just as perfect. As the ceremony went through all the traditions & readings the beautiful catholic ceremony rich with tradition & hymns ended, the church bells rang out as the couple left hand in hand filled by there bridal party & all their closest family & friends.
As the guest came up to the now Mr & Mrs Eskinja you could see in the faces of there nearest & dearest that they where so happy for this beautiful couple & there was a few cracks from the mother of the bride & groom for them to hurry up & start getting that baby making underway which as you could imagine made this blushing bride blush a little harder.
For their photo section we had plenty of time, long enough in fact to take a much deserved lunch break for the bridal party & their high heal wearing feet. This also gave the newly wed couple time to let everything that just happened sink & appreciate this precious moment in time.
I have to admit what we did next was by far one of my favourite video moments of my career so far, getting to do the mannequin challenge in their beautiful room, Jessica & I had ideas of what we should do for this great new video faze that had come out & after talking it through with the others we put our ideas into action. I’ve added the video below I hope you like our little viral sensation.
Reception starts & the formality's kick in, food comes out and the speeches begin some amazingly funny, meaningful yet sweet words from their closest friends & family. To the point where a beautiful first dance by the newlyweds, the perfect way to kick start a night full of dancing & celebration for the wonderful couples love, starting of their first night at Mr & Mrs.

Archbishop Christopher Prowse addresses Canberra and Goulburn Archdiocese for the first time
Archbishop Christopher Prowse addresses Canberra and Goulburn Archdiocese for the first time at CatholicCare in Manuka. 13 September, 2013
Old Canberra. Manuka.
Old Canberra. Manuka.
Manuka is an area in the Inner South district of Canberra, Australia covering parts of the suburbs of Griffith and Forrest. Manuka Shops, Manuka Oval, Manuka Swimming Pool, and Manuka Circle take their name from the park in the area.
Manuka includes several areas that are listed by the ACT Heritage Council:
St Christopher's Cathedral Precinct, which has been the centre of Catholic worship and education in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn since 1928.
St Paul’s Church on the corner of Canberra Avenue and Captain Cook Crescent, which the Heritage Council considers to be an excellent example of an Inter-War Gothic church with Art Deco influences. The church was designed by Sydney Architects Burcham Clamp and Son and dedicated on 6 August 1939.
Canberra's first pool was built on the south side as it was closer to more Canberra residents than any northside location. The pool was officially opened on 26 January 1931.St Christopher's Cathedral is adjacent to the shopping district, and is technically located in the suburb of Forrest. The Reverend Father Patrick Haydon was appointed as parish priest of the new St Christopher's Parish at Manuka in 1928. He oversaw the building of a convent and school, opened in 1928, and the first stage of St Christopher's Cathedral which was completed in 1939. The Catholic community had intended to build a full cathedral on Commonwealth Avenue but their plans were never realised as the depression took away the ability to raise funds for the project and the impetus was never regained.
St Christopher's was finally extended to its present size in 1973, when it became the co-cathedral of the Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn, and more recently the sole cathedral when the former cathedral in Goulburn ceased to be a cathedral of the archdiocese. It was listed by the ACT Heritage Council in 1998.
St Paul's Church, Manuka
Founded in 1939 it part of the Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn. It is listed in the ACT Heritage Register as an ...excellent example of an Inter-War Gothic church with Art Deco influences. It was the first place in Australia to install a combination organ and has the only peal of bells in the Australian Capital Territory. It is situated on the corner of Canberra Avenue and Captain Cook Crescent, opposite Manuka Oval.
The Capitol Theatre was one of Canberra's most important centres for entertainment in the early life of the city, with many plays and films. The design was to the requirements of the theatre impresario J.C. Williamson. It was opened in 1927 and hosted a reception for the arrival of aviator Bert Hinkler in Canberra in 1928. The theatre was later bulldozed in 1980 and the present Greater Union cinema built on the site. The decision to destroy such an important building of Canberra's heritage was controversial at the time and since.
Manuka Oval. The oval was originally a park officially known as Manuka Circle Park, however by the end of the 1920s it was known as Manuka Oval. The park and nearby shopping centre were named after the leptospermum scoparium plant's Māori name, Manuka. There was a push for the park to become an enclosed oval starting in 1926 by various sports groups. Work began on Manuka Oval to erect a fence, along with other improvements made in 1929. The field had previously been used to casually play rugby league and Australian rules football. The first cricket pitch was played on in April 1930. The Bradman Pavilion, the oval's main stand, was constructed in 1962 in honour of Sir Donald Bradman. The Robert Menzies Stand and the Bob Hawke Stand were constructed in 1987 and 1992 respectively and were named after the first two Australian Prime Ministers to bring international cricket teams to Canberra to play against the Prime Minister's XI.

It was a day of tradition, family, friends and a whole lot of fun. The day started with a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony, then moved to a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony at St Christopher’s Cathedral and then went on to the beautiful National Museum of Australia for the reception. The National Museum Australia was a great location for some amazing wedding photos. Martina and Zlatko went to school together 10 years ago and they knew each other from both being in the Croatian community.
With colours of Autumn at the reception and having photography and videography taken at places in Canberra that show the beauty of Autumn, Martina and Zlatko would like there to be plenty of footage throughout the day that incorporates their families.
As they are both Croatian, they would like their traditions caught on tape, i.e. music, dancing etc.

Moonfire, Jessica Wells - Rockefeller Carillon New Music Festival 2018 - Elsa Mundt
Moonfire (2016), electroacoustic
Jessica Wells (b. 1974)
North American première
Elsa Mundt, carillon
Moonfire is inspired by a famous tale about a Belgian cathedral tower. Legend has it that on January 27, 1687, in the town of Mechelen, a local looked up at St Rumbold’s tower and perceived it to be on fire. The townsfolk called the alarm and ascended the tower with buckets of water and anything they could muster to extinguish the blaze. Upon reaching the top of the tower it was discovered that there was no fire, but the blood red moon shining through the fog had created a mirage! Hence the Mechlians were jokingly referred to as Maneblussers (“Moon Extinguishers”) and local beer was even named after the legend.
Rather than the joke, my piece is inspired by the imagery of the blood moon, shining through the fog to create a sensation of an eerie sky lit by vaporous flames. Alarm bells are heard, and a panic of the people, but the piece descends into an eerie fog-like mystical trance. The power of the moon could be perceived as dangerous, volatile, rather than benign.
—Jessica Wells
Moonfire was commissioned by Lynn Fuller and the Australian National Capital Authority and received its première at the Canberra International Music Festival, May 2016.
The Rockefeller Carillon New Music Festival presented 41 pieces from the 21st century, including 16 world premières. The two-day festival, May 25-26, 2018, hosted performers, composers, and visitors from around the world.

Canberra Wedding Story - Crystal and Madison
What and amazing wedding! We just love St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Canberra for weddings as the interior artwork in the church makes such a splendid backdrop for the ceremony. The bride and groom and wedding party were so helpful throughout the day in making our job easy and it was a pleasure to work with them.
