Our second to last stop on our country tour of Iceland is at Hotel Rangá in south Iceland, near Hella. During this chapter, we battle crazy weather such as severe winds and serious hailstorms but also gorgeous landscapes and delicious food. We also may or may not dance in this video....
ICELAND ROAD TRIP with Northern Lights!
A one week (7 days) roadtrip around Iceland on the ringroad with a Camper Van is an Adventure of a lifetime! There are many attractions to see along the road and this is a recap of the things we have seen and done.
We were lucky enough to see many waterfall, sunsets/sunrises, rainbows, fjords, icebergs, volcanos, hotsprings, and Northern Lights as Lady Aurora followed us for a few nights. We also explored famous places like Reykjavik, Akureyri, Godafoss, Myvatn, Jokulsarlon (glacier lagoon), Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss.

This roadtrip is one that I will cherish my whole life as I shared it with my beautiful friends in my favorite country on Earth!

I hope you enjoy the view from my window seat because it was one of the prettiest views I have ever seen. We travelled for more than 10 hours to get to my friend Rakel's place and we went swimming in an outdoor pool after she made us a delicious pizza.

Cruising to adventure in Iceland on a Windstar ship
Windstar Cruises is one of a growing number of cruise and tour companies offering ship-based circumnavigations of Iceland. Windstar offers the trips each summer on the 212-passenger Star Pride or one of its two sister vessels.
Built in 1988, Star Pride is a small, nimble vessel that is well-suited for trips around Iceland. Its small size allows it to dock in remote Icelandic towns that lack facilities for bigger ships.
Many of the passengers on Windstar's Around Iceland cruise arrive a day or two early to tour the Golden Circle, a circular driving loop out of Reykjavik that features the country's famed Gullfoss waterfall.
Tours of the Golden Circle from Reykjavik include a stop at Thingvellir National Park. It marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge that separates the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.
Another top attraction in the Reykjavik area that draws Windstar passengers is the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa located in a lava field on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula.

RESPONSIBLE WHALE WATCHING
We follow IceWhale’s codes of conduct for responsible whale watching as well as following our own stricter guidelines. We take part in international cooperation on the future of whale watching, e.g. IWC and Planet Whale. To advance our knowledge we participate and support marine biologists research on wildlife in our area. Elding also is the first and only environmentally certified whale watching company in Iceland.
Lost in Iceland | Iceland Travel
In March 2016, we went on one crazy trip driving all around Iceland (2500+ kms) covering ring road, golden triangle, blue lagoon, Hofn, Akureyri, Vik, Gulfoss, Skogafoss, Reykjavik, Selandjafoss & a bit off routing towards the snowy center.
Although I lost my gopro somewhere while coming back along with 30GBs of once in a lifetime footage, I did manage to compile a video from the handheld dslr footage I had.

Viðey offers you change in pace for your Northern Lights expedition. The island is only a few min. sail from the heart of Reykjavik´s city centre, is dark and quiet and provides a great view of the city from a different angle.

You can enjoy the scenery, nature, history and culture of the island on our evening stroll in search of the Northern Lights. Photographing the art work or buildings of the island with the Northern Lights in the background adds that something special to your pictures - it could either be the stunning blue light from the Imagine Peace Tower, the oldest stone building in Iceland or even yourself! The island also provides incredible platforms for a 360° panoramic of the capital city, Imagine Peace Tower, the island itself, mountain ranges and some of the oldest buildings in Iceland.
