Sapporo Snow Festival (Odori Site Large Snow and Ice Sculptures)【English Ver.】
Enjoy the impact and intracacies of the Sapporo Snow Festival snow sculptures through this video of the festival taken by drone.
ICE MASTERPIECE | Ch3Thailand
A team of Thai Ice Sculptors has won first prize at the International Ice Sculpture contest, which is part of the sixty ninth Sapporo Snow Festival in Hokkaido, Japan. Their sculpture, entitled “Cock Fighting”, reflects the rural lifestyle of many Thai people. It is the sixth time the team has won the top award. The team from Macao won second prize, and the Americans came in third. The Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Yuthasak Supasorn, expressed hope that Thailand’s participation will draw more Japanese tourists to Thailand this year, adding that this year’s sculpture showed a different aspect of Thailand.
Sapporo Snow Festival 2019: Thoroughbreds Galloping Across a Field In Hokkaido
This is one of the huge snow sculptures in Odori area, the main site for the Sapporo Snow Festival which celebrates their 70th Anniversary.
In this video taken by The Philippine Business and News, a snow sculpture shows a couple of thoroughbreds galloping against a backdrop of the Sapporo Clock Tower, the statue of Dr. William Clark at the Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill, and the former Hokkaido Government Office Building (also known as Red Brick Office).
Hokkaido is a major producer of thoroughbred racehorses, Hokkaido's Hidaka and Iburi regions account for 98 percent of thoroughbreds foaled in Japan and have produced fine racehorses.
The thoroughbreds born in Hokkaido are trained in a vast expanse of land into strong racehorses with the attentive care of their owners, producers, trainers and stable keepers, and are extremely regarded by horse racing fans in Hokkaido and elsewhere in Japan.
However, on September 6, 2018, a powerful earthquake struck Hokkaido's Easter Iburi region resulting in substantial lost of life and the disruption of the lives of the local residents as the earthquake left the entire prefecture without electricity.
Now, in most part of Hokkaido, people have regained normalcy in their lives, however, in the worst affected areas, there are still people who are greatly affected and suffered from the damage created by the quake.
This is the main reason why the huge sculpture of thoroughbred race horses came into being to convey the vibrancy of Hokkaido had before the devastating and hope to positivity to the victims so that they can get back to their normal life soon.

The Real Taro & Jiro (Antarctica Video footage 1957-1959)
Taro and Jiro, three year old male siblings, were the youngest of 15 sled dogs of the first Japanese expedition to Antarctica that started in January 1957. The dogs were Sakhalin huskies, known in Japan as Karafuto-ken.
The first team, were to be replaced by another team in February 1958. However, before the second team could arrive a strong and unexpected storm approached causing the first team to be evacuated by helicopter and the second team to be suspended. Unfortunately, the dogs had to be left behind. They were chained and given food to last them for a few days, when the team had hoped to return for them. Sadly, the men could not return until the following year.
On January 14, 1959, the expedition returned to the base in Antarctica. The men were expecting to find the 15 dogs dead but only seven (Aka, Goro, Pochi, Moku, Kuro, Pesu and Kuma from Monbetsu) lost their lives while still chained. The other eight dogs had managed to break free from the chains. Amazingly two of the dogs, Taro and Jiro, were found alive near the base. The remaining six (Riki, Anko, Deri, Jakku, Shiro and Kuma from Furen - this Kuma was the father of Taro and Jiro) were never found.
Taro and Jiro were able to survive the 11 months in extreme conditions without human support, and apparently did not resort to eating the bodies of their fellow dogs.
Taro and Jiro stayed in Antarctica to pull sleds for the new expedition. In 1960 Jiro died of a disease in Antarctica and in 1961 Taro returned to his hometown Sapporo and lived at Hokkaido University until he died of old age in 1970. Taro's body was embalmed and is on display at the Museum of National Treasures at the Botanical Garden of Hokkaido University, and Jiro's body was embalmed and is on display at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo - the same museum where Hachiko is on display.
The breed spiked in popularity upon the release of the 1983 film Nankyoku Monogatari, about Taro and Jiro. A second 2006 film, Eight Below, stars Paul Walker, provided a fictional version of the occurrence, but did not reference the breed.
The breed and the expedition are memorialized by three monuments: near Wakkanai, Hokkaido; under Tokyo Tower; and near Nagoya Port. Sculptor Takeshi Ando designed the Tokyo statues, which were removed, likely to be placed at Tokyo's National Institute of Polar Research.

The Windiest Place in Japan (Cape Soya, Hokkaido)
Okay, to confess I'm not 100% sure this is the windiest place in Japan. But all the locals kept telling me it was the windiest place in all of Japan. So I'm going to choose to believe them.
Ryosuke makes a special appearance at the end of the video - so if you want to see him, skip to the end :)
Now that I've been to the Northernmost place of all of Japan (and the Northernmost train station - Wakkanai station)... I want to go to the Southernmost point AND the Southernmost train station in Japan (in Okinawa). Someday soon, I hope.

Kanamara P*nis Festival Exposed ★ ONLY in JAPAN
★ Special Episode ★ This festival will next be held on Sunday, April 5 2020. Here's a preview with all the background you'll need.
Japan's Kanamara Matsuri as you've never seen it before!
Every now and then something very bizarre from Japan pops up in the news. This time, it happens to be bright pink and carried around the streets of a town near Tokyo. The Kanamara Matsuri / Festival is definitely unusual but there is much more to this story including a strong historical backbone and religious significance.
So – WHY #JAPAN ?!?! WHY ?!?
The international media sees the images and write the stories but never ask the questions. Let me do that for you in this episode.
The festival sometimes dubbed the “Penis” festival or the Utamaro Festival has a long history going back 200 years.
It was created by a transgender salon in Asakusa called Elizabeth who wanted to bring attention to the issue of STD, HIV / AIDS and the LGBT community. They succeeded in getting a lot of attention but over the last several years, the message has gotten lost in the shock and -- bright pink of their hand made phallus. Whatever you may think about Elizabeth, there is no doubt that it is the most photographed mikoshi in Japan!
Kanamara #Shrine is dedicated to both fertility and a place for prayer for women afflicted by sexual diseases. It's a place women go to today to pray to get pregnant and for a healthy child.
Those who have been unfortunate to contract a STD have been coming here for centuries. The priests approach those afflicted with a lot of compassion. Kanamara Shrine is certainly one that opens its arms to anyone and everyone who is suffering and that compassion is admirable.
In recent years, the worldwide media attention has been overwhelming skewed on the weird and the Kanamara Matsuri has become something of a joke and embarrassment in many Japanese eyes. I really hope that this episode can help shed light on the cultural, historical and religious significance of this festival in Japan today. It's more than a gag, a comedy piece.
Parental Guidance suggested:
Because viewers of the shows come from all different backgrounds and ages, I highly recommend anyone under 13 have a parent watch with them. There are no actual body parts shown but I know the material is sensitive for parents; and parents should be the ones making the decision if this should be seen or not. I added a rating at the opening for this purpose.
Where is Kanamara Shrine?
Here's a Google Map:
Address: 2-13-16 Daishi Ekimae, Kawasaki Ward, Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture 210-0802
How to get to the Kanamara Matsuri:
Station: Kawasakidaishi Station / 川崎大師
Take the JR LINE to Kawasaki Station then change to the Keikyu Dashi Line, a 50 meter walk from JR. Take the train 3 stops, 140 Yen.

Sapporo Snow Festival | Adventures in Japan
I flew to Sapporo, Hokkaido for the world-famous Sapporo Snow Festival. It's been a dream of mine to attend the snow festival since I started studying the Japanese language a few years ago. It was incredible to see so many amazing sculptures made from snow. I spent almost a whole day exploring all the sculptures. I highly recommend a visit!

My son and I visited a Trick Art Museum today in Kamifurano Hokkaido Japan. There were a lot of cool art pieces that took on 3D qualities when you looked at them from different angles and with one eye closed. We had a fun time checking out all of the art.

Ryan Takes Japan - EPISODE 15 - TOKYO to HOME
This is the fifteenth, and final episode chronicling my adventures abroad in Japan and Vietnam in September and October 2017.
For the last leg of my trip I spent time in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan after visiting Vietnam. It was kind of the stopping ground to do anything I hadn't done yet, but it turns out I was just so exhausted from a month of traveling and current jet lag that I ended up just hanging in Shibuya where I was staying for the night. And the next day I headed home.
Traveling Japan was the time of my life. I met so many amazing people along the journey. I hope you enjoyed this series and if you haven't watched the previous episodes check them out. I can't wait to go back.

Hello world!
My name is Bitsy Tandem, and I am a professional introvert. For the few who know me personally, I'm known as an individual who draws comics for a living and rarely leaves the house. To say I live under a rock is a bit of an understatement.
Travel, especially international, is something that very much terrifies me. My social anxiety also definitely doesn't help in the least. But, I've been given the wonderful opportunity to move to Japan, the country of my dreams, and I want to live every moment of it! Even if it leaves me shaking at times. So, I decided to start a YouTube channel because it helps me feel like I'm taking YOU along with me. This way I don't feel so alone during my excursions, and maybe might have just a bit more courage to step out of my comfort zone and practice my minimally existent Japanese language abilities.
What's in it for you?
Well, hopefully some good, honest entertainment for one. Additionally, I really hope to highlight the unseen places and aspects of Japan that seem to be neglected in typical videos here. Plus, if you pay attention and take part, you'll be able to win FREE STUFF! Seriously. I want to make videos of boxing neat things up and sending them to people all across the world.
Tokyo, though it is a very typical location, is my debut video because I had to be there for a few days and I felt it would turbo charge my confidence. Which it did! Kind of. I think. But, Tokyo is so ridiculously big, even if you watched every single video about it here on YouTube you would NEVER see it all.
So, let's all experience Japan in Tandem! Because there's always something new to discover.
Lastly, here are the simple Giveaway Contest rules:
1. Like the video
2. Comment on the video
3. Share the video!
That's literally it! The first 5 to do so will be entered to win the GRAND PRIZE as seen at the end of the video. The rest that do so will be entered for one of the other prizes, which are also amazing.
Until next time, my new digital friends.
また会いましょう!

Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 41: The Finale! Sayonara My Neo Japan Friends!
Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome is a Minecraft series that will take a look at the world of the Minecraft Awesome server through the eyes of one regular wanderer.
And so, after quite some time, the Neo Japan arc comes to a close. It was a wild ride, and I thank everyone for going along with me on that ride. From the viewers to the Neo Japan community itself, this was a very interesting experience, and also a learning experience. Love it or hate it (and I certainly hope you loved it because I certainly did) I think the Neo Japan arc will stand out as one of the most-influential arcs in this strange show's strange history.
And looking forward? There's a lot to look forward to. We have a new world which I plan to cover coming in October, a very emotional and personal tour involving someone who has quickly become a very good friend of mine, more amazing statues from Bolt Fox, and in the very next arc, I'll say quite possibly the most controversial statements I'll ever make.
Interesting times are ahead, my friends. And even if you don't agree with what I'll soon be saying in regards to things like the server, comics, movies, and even (gasp) Fraser himself... just know that I love you guys no matter what and I thank you for the support.
And remember, Minecraft Awesome is ran by the folks at videogamesawesome.com
