Steveston is a small fishing community located in Richmond, B.C. on the western shores. With over a 100 years of fishing history, Steveston has evolved into a picturesque spot to shop, stroll the boardwalk, grab something to eat or just watch the fishing vessels come in after a long day on the water.

We are driving around the Steveston area in Richmond BC Canada.
This used to be a place where quite a few Japanese/Nikkei lived. During World War II the Canadian government accused these people of being spies and stole everything from them. The government has apologized for this and has accepted what was done was wrong.

Fisherman's Wharf at the Largest Commercial Fishing Harbour in Canada
Steveston Harbour in Richmond, British Columbia, is said to be the largest commercial fishing harbour in Canada. The harbour has the famous Fisherman's Wharf - open 24 hours - where fishers unload their catch and sell to the public. Species commonly sold when they are in season: Albacore tuna (June – October); Coho salmon (very limited fishery); Chum salmon (July – November); Dungeness crab (year round); Halibut (February – November); Pink salmon (July, August); Rockfish (year round)Sablefish / black cod (year round); Sea urchin (year round); Shrimp (year round); Sockeye salmon (July, August, September); Sole (year round); Spot prawns (May – June).

My good friend Vanessa took us on a great adventure to the old times sleepy town of Steveston out on the island of Richmond.
We got to eat amazing fish and chips at the famous Pajo's on the water and buy prawns fresh out of the ocean.
The way Vancouverites eat is is out of this world - fresh to death.
And Luna got to sample yet another outdoor playground - by far her favourite part of visiting Canada.

Richmond Canada Day in Steveston 2017
The City of Richmond hosted the ultimate birthday party in celebration of Canada’s 150th year of Confederation. Richmond Canada Day in Steveston featured a free, full-day street party throughout Steveston Village along side the much beloved Steveston Salmon Festival. A headline performance by Juno Award-winners Wintersleep and fireworks over the Fraser River capped off the celebrations.
