Today i search for the off grid community that lives in the sand dunes!
After a 20 minute drive along beautiful Stockton Beach in my mates 80s series land cruiser we find the hidden village of “Tin City” emerging out of the sand dunes like a mirage!!
Tin City began in the early 1900’s when 2 tin shacks were built for shipwreck survivors. During the great depression of the 1930’s, Tin City grew to over 36 huts. 11 of these huts still stand today!

So fyi Port Stephens is famous for its unspoilt beaches, beautiful bays, home to bottlenose dolphins and last but not least the SAND DUNES!????????????????♀️????????
It was a bright Sunday morning and we were nearly 60 in all.???? A big bus was chartered to take us there.???? And definitely we had so much so muchhhh funnn there!!!????

Stockton Beach, Tin City & Sand Boarding. See this before going!
Stockton Beach is located just over two hours north of Sydney, Australia.
Stretching 32km from Newcastle north to Anna Bay, this stretch of continuous beach has some of the finest and whitest sands found anywhere in the world.
Stockton beach forms part of the Worimi National Park and limited for wheel driving is allowed. This is the historic home of the Worimi People, the original custodians of this area.
For those that don't have four wheel drive vehicles, there are tours available from Sydney to take you to Port Stephens and Anna Bay. There are also whale watching boats tours for the intrepid adventurer.
We drove north, firstly to Port Stephens for lunch and then around to the Pacific coast to Anna Bay to pick up a 4 Wheel Drive tour to take us to Tin City and then on for some sand boarding

Subaru Forester on Stockton Beach
Stockton beach adventure with SJ Forester NA and SG Forester XT. Stockton beach features beautiful area of Port Stephens with its large sand dunes and 30km beachfront. It's located 2.5 hours from Sydney
This proves that a non-4WD like a Subaru can do beach driving as long as you know what you're doing. For first timers, sand driving is all about tyre pressure. I was running 14 PSI on my stock Subaru 225/60/17 tyres.
