Stone Mountain Park Covered Bridge, Stone Mountain, GA
A covered bridge that I found while exploring Stone Mountain Park.
The Trail @ Stone Mountain by The Covered Bridge
The best day of the 2011 so far, weather wise. Wow, what a beautiful day...Stone Mountain was a happening spot. People and animals everywhere, taking in the spring like weather. Charlie's new favorite thing is to hike and throw stones into the lake. Looking forward to warmer weather...today just gave us a little relief from winter, but don't let today fool you...winter is still here!
Music by 'ADRON'....one of my new favorite local artist. Check her out!!!

GRIST MILL Stone Mountain Park - GEORGIA RV TRIP - PART 5
THIS AUTHENTIC OLD GRIST MILL AT STONE MOUNTAIN PARK WAS MADE IN THE 19TH CENTURY. IT WAS MOVED HERE FROM FANNIN COUNTY Built in 1867 the abandoned mill was discovered near Ellijay Ga. It was dismantled and moved to Stone Mountain Heading to the east side of the mountain on Robert E. Lee Blvd you'll find the authentic 19th-century grist mill. The structure was moved to the park from Fannin County. Built in 1867 the abandoned mill was discovered near Ellijay Ga. It was dismantled and moved to Stone Mountain, the mill and its milling equipment were reassembled with millstones and a stone millrace. The 13 foot wooden water-wheel
was carefully replicated by a devoted carpenter and continues turning today without a care.
This area of the park is one of the most picturesque places in the park. Newly weds taking pictures, for a picnic and a shady stroll on Cherokee trail by the shore of Stone Mountain Lake.
It's also within walking distance to the Covered bridge and the Quarry Exhibit.

Stone Mountain Thanksgiving
We could not have picked a better week to visit one of our favorite spots, Stone Mountain, Georgia. The weather was perfect...sunny every day, crisp nights, mild days...and the entire Stone Mountain Park was decked out for the holidays. Other than a continuing saga with our refrigerator...which you'll see in this video...this was a great Thanksgiving!

I’m on a cross country road trip. I started in Florida and I’m heading to California with my final destination being L.A. I have a total of 35 stops planned and 35 of them being national parks. Stone Mountain Campground was my first stop and it happened by accident. After driving for 10 hours I needed a place to stop between Fort Lauderdale and Vogel State Park and Stone Mountain had spots available. It turned out to be a great first place to stop.
The campground is beautiful and very clean and there are lots of activities to do and there are grocery stores and restaurants nearby.
I stayed in Trail O campsite number 397. My campsite had water and electricity but other sites have full hookups including cable.
The campground has wifi and they RV sites with full hookups like electricity, water, cable, sewage, and sites with only electric and water which is where I stayed. They also have tent only sites and they have Yurt rentals.
Wifi? Yes
Pets? Yes
Full Hookup? Yes
Tent only sites? Yes
I was here for 4 nights and stayed in blue site 397 on Trail O
Here’s what I loved about the campground. It’s beautiful and it’s clean, clean clean,
The grounds, bathrooms, showers and laundry room where very clean. Every-timecam I walked into the bathroom it appeared as if someone had just cleaned them and the washer was literally sparkling.
There are plenty of activities like kayak and SUP rentals, there’s also hiking trails. I hiked up to Stone Mountain to watch the sunset and that was the highlight of my stay ( other than clean bathrooms.) If you want to walk from the campground it’s an 8mile round trip. There is however a parking lot across the way from the walkup trail and that hike is only a mile up. If you don’t want to hike you can take the cable cart to the top of the mountain.
There are restaurants inside the park as well and they have a free laser show that might be great for families, the laser show was not my thing.
If you’re on their website trying to decide where to stay i’ll give you a brief overview.
Tent only sites: I walked by and they were all great, they all had a lake view.
Blue Sites: These are for RV’s of all sizes and they have back-in as well as pull through sites. These have water, electricity and wifi. They are the furthest from the entrance/ pool area so they’re more quiet and peaceful. Tail O has many sites with a lake view.
Some of my favorite spots: 389,391,414,415,416 ( all back-in)
Red Sites: For Rv’s of all sizes with pull-through and back-in sites. These have full hookups.
Trail M site 341, 340 are some of the best ones if you want a view of Stone Mountain and the Lake.
Lime Green Sites: For Rv’s of all sizes with pull-through and back-in sites. These have full hookups.
Purple Sites: These are for RV’s of all sizes and they have back-in as well as pull through sites. These have a wooden decks, gas grill with propane included, full hookups. Close to the entrance and close to the pool, volleyball courts, playground and campground store. These and the orange sites would be my last pick because they are the busiest. I prefer to be as isolated as possible.
Orange Sites: : These are for RV’s of all sizes and they have back-in as well as pull through sites.
RIDE THE DUCKS TOUR & THE CARILLON - STONE MOUNTAIN PARK- Georgia RV Trip - Part 10
WE TAKE A RIDE THE DUCKS TOUR AND GET TO SEE THE CARILLON FROM THE LAKE AT - STONE MOUNTAIN PARK- Georgia RV Trip. These type of tour buses are Popular in areas that have sceneries in both water and land close together. The amphibious vehicle is a reproduction of the famous World War II DUKW (Also known as Duck).
The original DUKW is a six-wheel-drive, 2-ton capacity trucks used by the U.S. military and Allied Forces.
Designed by a partnership of Sparkman & Stephens and (GMC), the DUKW was used for the transportation of goods and troops over land and water.
Today, the this company manufactures its own amphibious vehicles that incorporate modern advances in marine design. Drivers are certified with Marine and drivers' licences, and on top of all that they have to be entertainers, you will see what I mean.
The vehicles are also equipped with flotation devices as you will see them under the roof here.
This ride is for at least an hour, not to bore you with all the footage I'm going to cut it as short as possible and show some quick glimpses of what I thought was interesting. Especially seeing some deer from the way back from the lake, we will be seeing the lake of course , Stone Mtn, the campground, the Carillon from up close, the same one we saw from the mountain summit yesterday along with other cool scenes. So, here we go. The Carillon was donated by CocaCola company after it was displayed at the 1964 World's Fair in Flushing Medow NY.

Stone Mountain GA
While in Atlanta, GA it was a beautiful Saturday so I decided to walk up Stone Mountain. I was also testing out a new suction mount for the GoPro and doing some driving. Not one of my best videos... but it was fun. I'll likely go back and do a better one on a future trip.

Stone Mountain - GA - Hiking up & down Stone Mountain
Stone Mountain GA July 2008 - Two of us from Snellville GA and two family members visiting us from Farmington NY climbed up and down Stone Mountain.
It was a warm and hazy July morning but the view was still beautiful. If you visit the park you can ride the tram/skyride to the top of the mountain.....or hike it like we did.
The songs used in this video are Going the Distance by Bill Conti from the Rocky soundtrack and I'm Coming Home from Chris Doughtry.
Equipment used to make the video is a Nikon D40 camera and a Flip Ultra camcorder.
