A trip to the remote islands of Saiki City! Discovering the Kyushu Olle and Gourmet Cuisine
We took a trip to the city of Saiki in Oita Prefecture, the city with the largest geographic area in all of Kyushu. Blessed with beautiful natural scenery including the mountains, the sea, and the lovely townscapes of the local towns, there is no shortage of places worth visiting here. Today we visited Onyujima, home of one of the certified Kyushu Olle Courses as well as a place to enjoy some amazingly beautiful scenery and see the quiet lifestyle of the island where you will find that time simply flies by as you enjoy the many points of interest the island has to offer. A seaside city, Saiki is likewise famous for its seaside location, where you can get your fill of its delicious fresh seafood dishes. Today Heeya and Sunny from South Korea spend a day in Saiki to show you all that the city has to offer.

Not far from Nishiki Market is Higashiyama Kiyomizu 3-chome where you can also find a lot of traditional street food such as fresh off the grill senbei (rice crackers) and green tea ice cream!

日本への外国人旅行者が増加する昨今、従来の東京/大阪といった大都市以外の地方都市も、観光スポットとして注目されています。中でも外国人の方々にとって興味深いのは、日本各地に散らばるその土地土地の郷土料理。
KitchHikeチャンネルでは、これから世界中の外国人と一緒に、日本各地の郷土料理を紹介していきます。
今回の舞台は前回に引続き、宮崎県小林市から!宮崎地鶏を育てている福本さんに、新鮮な宮崎地鶏のバーベキューや、サツマイモと餅で作る伝統的な九州のお菓子”ねったくり”、大名筍などを頂きました。
「自分の手で生き物を殺し、それを残さずに全部食べることが『いただきます』という気持ちに繋がる。生き物に対する感謝の気持ちが、食べる側の人間にとって一番根本的で、一番大事なこと」と語る福本さん。
普段我々が口にしている食べ物は一体どこから来ているのか、そして「食べる」とはどういうことなのか。実際に生き物を殺して食べる経験は、フィルや私たちにその答えを少しだけ教えてくれました。自分の目、自分の手、そして自分の口……体全体で命の大切さに触れた今回の体験、南九州の美味しいを巡る旅のフィナーレです。
Following the previous story,we're still in Kobayashi-city in Miyazaki prefecture.
Mr. Fukumoto, a farmer who raises local Chicken in Miyazaki served us fresh local Chicken BBQ, and traditional snack made from potato and Mochi, and Bamboo shoot.
Before we eat, We say Itadaki-masu which is the word to thank animals and vegetables for serving us meals. This mind is the most essential and important. Taking animal's life to make meals by ourselves, and making the most of them reminds us of this mind Itadakimas. Mr. Fukumoto said.
Where does the meal originally come from, and what actually is to eat.
This experience to take animal's life to make meals taught us about it.
Our eyes, our hands, and our tongue...
As underatnding how important the life is, This series to explore local cuisines in southern Kyushu area approached the finale.
